So main week for this week are the releases for the 26th August …the year is just flying….the summer has been iffy business wise but releases are iffy also…should bounce back in another 5 or 6 weeks and be fairly good for the end of the year hopefully anyway…;pricing aint gonna help retailers when things are quiet…the high 30s euro price tag for a coloured reissue is just too steep in my opinion and folks ain’t gonna pay it…your diehards of a band/artist might but it wont cross over and we will sell much less…its probably a bit different for the labels as they simply cannot get things pressed so for them , they can only sell so many anyway as they cant get more pressed for circa 8/9 months now…look tis a mess, but when things settle, i hope pricing will settle a bit also…Anti doing a few TOM WAITS coloured reissues and high 30s, early 40s price tags…anyway the 26th of August.

There is a vinyl reissue of THE CUREs “ wish” album coming down the road also….the lads mentioned the cd formats last week but an LP release also happening in November…numbers are tight enough on it so if interested give us a nod or buy from the site.

“Blondie mark a career milestone with the release of the first ever authorised and in depth archive in their history. This release features 124 tracks, 36 of which are previously unreleased. Remastered from the original analog tapes and cut at Abbey Road Studios, this expansive box set is available on four formats (Super Deluxe Collectors’ Edition, Deluxe 4LP, Deluxe 8CD and 3CD editions). Housed in a foil-wrapped carton, Against The Odds includes extensive liner notes by Erin Osmon, track by track commentary from Debbie Harry, Chris Stein, Clem Burke, Jimmy Destri, Nigel Harrison, Frank Infante, and Gary Valentine, essays by producers Mike Chapman, Richard Gottehrer, and Ken Shipley, a 120-page illustrated discography, and hundreds of period photographs.

This archive box set—the first band-authorised collection in their 50 year history—is a collective moment to celebrate their legacy and be immersed into Blondie’s genre-bending sonic universe, including their first six studio albums recorded for Chrysalis; Blondie, Plastic Letters, Parallel Lines, Eat To The Beat, Autoamerican, The Hunter, and in turn their catalogue of era-defining hits “Heart Of Glass,” “Atomic,” “Tide Is High,” “Sunday Girl,” “Rapture,” and “Call Me.” These six groundbreaking albums have been expanded to include over four dozen demos (including the group’s first-ever recording session), alternate versions, and studio outtakes, creating a near-complete document of Blondie’s studio sessions prior to their 1982 hiatus.

Against The Odds has an unusual beginning; for nearly two decades, the bulk of Blondie’s audio and visual archive sat inside in Chris Stein’s unassuming barn just outside Woodstock, New York. One hundred reel-to-reel tapes, half a dozen cassettes, a few storage tubs crammed with records, bits of promotional flotsam, flyers, a stray Warhol print, and mirrored dressing room signage from four sold-out January 1980 nights at London’s Hammersmith Odeon. All of it lay in wait through twenty humid summers, twenty frigid winters”

Cargo for the 26th Aug has a few well worth a mention , firstly is Cork based ELAINE HOWLEY  with her debut solo album “ the distance between heart and mouth” …here is more about the album.

“Touch Sensitive Records proudly presents the Cork-based musician Elaine Howley’s debut solo album The Distance Between Heart and Mouth. The product of an audio diary kept on a 4 track cassette machine throughout 2019 and 2020, the album recreates the intimacy of a radio show filled with Howley’s favourite sounds, pallets, and textures; effortlessly joining the dots between pop and experimentation, summoning the kaleidoscopic world of Trish Keenan & Broadcast, the bruised lo-fi soul of Tirzah and the dubbed-out blues of Leslie Winer. Over nine patient, spontaneous self-recorded and produced tracks, Elaine Howley traces the outline of a small space that could be considered one of the longest journeys to be taken – The Distance Between Heart And Mouth.  As a member of Crevice, Howlbux and, perhaps most notably, psychedelic rock group The Altered Hours, Elaine Howley is renowned as a singular voice in the Irish underground.  The Distance Between Heart And Mouth. TRACKLIST: 1. Silent Talk  2. Autumn Speak  3. Archeological Longing  4. See Saw Seen  5. To The Test  6. Buried Way Out  7. Person Count  8. Song For Mary Black  9. SoSo  “

Nearly forgot kid…a week off and the brain goes a little to mushy peas…going to hand ye to Shane now as he takes ye down the road with announcements etc..

Sound, Ray! No bother about us filling in for you on the hols, well deserved, and as you said life is short!
How’s it going everyone? Hope yere good. Nice bit of sun this week for listening to music outside in, enjoy it! Bit jealous of our dogs sunbathing out the back at the moment though!

Not a huge amount to mention this week compared to the last few weeks actually.

One to definitely mention is a class one, JOHN COLTRANE – Blue Train is getting a special Tone Poet Series reissue on 2 CD, 1 LP Mono and 2 LP Stereo. No doubt one of his best albums, this is a really well pressed reissue from the analog tapes. On the 2 LP and 2 CD, there’s an extra album of unreleased outtakes/alternate versions and a booklet. Bit pricey but the quality is very high.
That will be released next month. Oh and numbers are limited with it, so if interested probably best to order from the website link above as we might miss the email for a bit.

A couple releases (Tom Waits) were very limited and we didn’t get any, which is why there’s not many to mention this week.

BRIGHT EYES are releasing 3 reissues, ‘Digital Ash in a Digital Urn‘, ‘I’m Wide Awake It’s Morning‘ and ‘LIFTED..’ plus a companion 12 inch record for each with re-worked versions of songs on them.
They will be out in November.

Lastly, we will be getting the vinyl version of Beyoncé’s new album – ‘Renaissance’ which comes with a special booklet.

That’s all actually from me. Back to the boss-man.

Thanks Shane!

Right last one for this week is Integral for the 2nd Sept…Duophonic/Warp records release the 5th installment of STEREOLAB “ pulse of the early brain – switched on volume 5” on indies 2 cd, 3lp or indies 3lp….lps include codes.

Partisan reissue on its 10th ann HEARTLESS BASTARDS “ arrow “ and there is a new BEN SALISBURY/GEOFF BARROW soundtrack to “ archive 81”.

Sin e for this week really folks
