Keeley, from where i can see does everything right in getting her image and profile out,  but man oh man can the songs back it up…i’m addicted to the new mini album the last week or so since it landed in the shop…( this is the mini album Keeley and her band will be promoting with the instore,  “ drawn to the flame” and it’s super, cd only for now…but there is also a 10” vinyl ep from last year “ brave warrior” in the shop). Fair commitment for her and the band to come to the shop and play for us ( they have a gig in the Crane later on Saturday night) so I hope the community will come out in support of it. Keeley does a great social media and seems to be really supportive of record shops…every little gain in this game is important for an upcoming artist and this band are ticking all the boxes…but most important the tunes stack up…here is “ shadows on the hill” form the super new mini album

Ye remember me banging on about THE MURDER CAPITAL this time three years ago when we were putting on an “ outstore” for their debut album release…this for me could be up there as well…i think it will be one we will be talking about in three years time. Really hope some of you will make it in on Saturday, it’s a bit later at 3.30 so take note of the time…3,30 pm Saturday the 9th. So KEELEY and her band ( four piece) will play a 30 minute set for us and sign copies of the new mini album cd or 10” ep or both! And have the chats as well…should be special. If you can’t make it in and want a record signed , buy from the site and let us know or just email us back and we will sort. As regards up coming artists and record shops, some get it and some unfortunately don’t,  we aren’t going to change their world obviously but we can help a tiny bit and every inch counts when you are trying to climb to the top…sometimes upcoming artists will say buy from our site if you want stock, it ain’t about the dollars folks, aint about that at all.

Here’s a bit more on KEELEY and really hope to see some of ye on Saturday…myself and young Adam will be holding the fort…

“Dublin’s highly revered psychedelic dreampop quartet KEELEY release their first mini-album in the wake of two acclaimed EPs in 2021.

“Picks up where the debut EP ‘Brave Warrior’ left off with a musical search for lost spirits, Keeley goes further and deeper and carries us into a musical dreamworld that reaches in and out all at once” ~ Fiachna Ó Braonáin (RTÉ Radio 1)

“If you could speak, what would you say? To bring you back, I’d give my life away. But nothing can undo what they did” ~ lyric from “Shadow On the Hills”

Led by enigmatic front-woman, guitarist and songwriter Keeley Moss, this Irish outfit went from strength to strength last summer with the success of break-out single “The Glitter And The Glue” from their debut EP ‘Brave Warrior’. While seeming to come from nowhere, Keeley had actually been a key figure on the Irish music scene for some years previous with her band Session Motts before deciding to forge a path entirely on her own in 2020. With the help of skilled Dublin producer Alan Maguire, she began to craft songs that encompassed her encyclopedic knowledge and passion for music stretching back to early Pink Floyd, The Pretenders, The Smiths, Pet Shop Boys and the rich vein that is the dreampop canon of the late 80s and early 90s. It would also be the point at which she decided to base her songwriting exclusively around the murder of Inga-Maria Hauser, a case that had fascinated her for many years and a subject she had written extensively about in her blog The Keeley Chronicles

Determined to make her mark in Ireland she spent 2020 self-promoting to Irish media, gradually coming to the attention of national DJs and key music writers. Suddenly her songs “The Glitter And The Glue” and “Last Words” were on the national airwaves and her involvement with the Inga-Maria Hauser case was being picked up by the likes of The Belfast Telegraph and the Derry Post. In May 2021 a deal was struck with London label Dimple Discs, home to Irish compatriots Cathal Coughlan, The Undertones, Sack and Eileen Gogan. The release of the ‘Brave Warrior’ EP in June was the catalyst for even more national Irish radio support, but now the word on “The Glitter and the Glue” had crossed the Irish Sea, and plays on BBC 6Music were becoming common with support from Steve Lamacq and Radcliffe & Maconie. Regional BBC support in Northern Ireland and Wales followed, as did American play on SiriusXM, college radio and hundreds of global internet radio programmes.

A second EP ‘Echo Everywhere‘ landed in November, supported by further excellent radio and press reactions. On the live front, the band (Keeley – guitar & vocals, Martin Fagan – bass, Marty Canavan – keyboards) had recently added acclaimed Dublin drummer Tim O’Donovan to their ranks. Following a livestream performance at the Dublin Quays Festival in August, the band followed up with sold-out shows at Whelan’s main room in Dublin in October and The Lexington in London in December. Come the new year, Keeley were nominated by Ireland’s Hot Press as one of their “Hot for 2022” acts, and the stage was set for the next chapter in a story driven by self-belief, determination and a lifestyle devoted exclusively to music and songwriting.

Which brings us to “Drawn To The Flame”. A bittersweet title suggesting destiny and arrival, but also danger and ultimately, tragedy. Armed with seven new songs which showcase the maturity and breadth of KEELEY’s songwriting, this mini-album bristles with lush harmonies, muscular beats and inventive atmospherics, skipping gleefully across genres and further establishing Keeley Moss as one of Ireland’s most creative and visionary songwriters. As with previous songs, this set highlights Keeley’s ongoing fascination with the murder and short life of aforementioned teenage German backpacker Inga Maria-Hauser, who was brutally murdered in Northern Ireland in 1988 and whose case remains unsolved despite many promising leads pointing to the culprits. As an authority on the subject, Keeley has recently appeared in “Murder In The Badlands”, a moving BBC documentary that further explores Inga-Maria’s case. The album ends with a hidden track, the only known voice recording of Inga-Maria, a devoted artist and singer, which Keeley managed to procure from her family in Munich by way of a tribute.

Keeley herself notes… “We feel it is our best, and purest, sonic statement yet. The point at which even darker depths are delved into, peeling back layers of the story’s shell to reveal just how close to the flame I came – and how close to the flame I remain.”

Hello everyone, hope yere all doing ok!
I’m playing catch up a bit on newsletter duties this week so won’t dawdle.

The major one of note coming soon this week is R.E.M.’s – Chronic Town EP. Their first EP I believe and it’s getting a nice reissue on both CD and picture disc collectible vinyl – August. Great band!

Next up is a very limited couple of releases. THE PRODIGY – Fat of the Land is getting a reissue on silver vinyl. Legendary album!
And there’s also a really limited 12 inch of ‘Firestarter’ from the album, remixed by Andy C. On silver vinyl that too. Fastest fingers first with those everyone, apparently they have sold out in lots of places online already. Both of those will arrive into the shop at the start of November.

At the end of August, there’s an interesting LOU REED release coming, ‘Words and Music 1965’.
On CD and pink vinyl, early demo/unreleased songs from Velvet Underground. Should be cool. We’ll have a small few of the pink vinyl.

Next up, THE DELINES are reissuing 3 of their albums ‘Sea Drift’, ‘The Imperial’ and ‘Colfax’. ‘Colfax’ hasn’t been available on vinyl for ages I believe. We like them behind and in front of the counter in the shop.

Also coming down the road, KENDRICK LAMARs new album is getting a vinyl release, we’ll be getting the TOP GUN: Maverick Soundtrack on white vinyl – enjoyable film
The Goo Goo Dolls are releasing a new album, CD only for now. Also on CD only at the moment, Beyoncé‘s new album is coming.
NADA SURF’s ‘Let Go’ is getting a reissue, BOBBIE GENTRY ‘The Girl from Chickshaw County’ is on the way and indie band ALVVAYS have a new album coming soon.
