1. John Blek ‘The Embers’ Launch At Music Zone.. Genuine winner!!!

Ah man, the Top 20 International was savage close.. Only 9 votes separated Fontaines D.C (Double winners.. Conragts!!) down the Bruce in 4th.. 9 votes.. It was never so tight.. Great charts I think.. Fontaines did run away with the Irish album, but very close after that.. Pillow Queens 49 votes, John Blek 45, Bleeding Hearts 39, Niamh Regan 37, Silverbacks 33, Ailbhe Reddy 29… Very close!! First time ever ‘our’ gig won the gig of the year… Genuinely.. But it was a special night.. Will draw the name for the €50 voucher out of a hat ‘live’ on d’video on Friday…

My own personal favourite album last year (still now!!) and it’s so subjective.. We had hundreds of albums in for the international top 20… Hundreds… Tastes differ folks.. But I loved the Bleeding Heart Pigeons album ‘Stir’.. A bloody great album I.M.O… Here is ‘All For The Best’ from it  :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKWPTsb3_Sc

We have no stock of it at the moment but if anyone is interested I can contact the lads and see if we can get more!!

I also really like The Strokes, Waxahatchee, Bruce, Bob and especially Khruangbin.. To be honest
I the quality of the Irish albums are phenomenal in my opinion.. Every single album in that top 20 is really good.. Do have soft spots for Niamh Regan, Paddy Dennehy, Joe Chester, R.S.A.G and of course The Emperors!!!

Right, hand you to Bobby now for any upcoming albums etc…

Hey folks,
Hope you are all keeping safe and well. Quite a lot there this week, some nice announcements again!
Gonna start off with something a bit different. We have just put on the site for pre-order the brand new announcement from Rega, for their new loudspeakers called ‘Kyte’ Loudspeakers. We are big fans of Rega products in the shop, so really nice to see new speakers from them, first time we will have speakers from them in the shop. These are due to ship in Spring 2021, but if any interest pop us a mail and we can try get a more concrete date.

On to the tunes! There is another live NEIL YOUNG release announced, this one for late March is entitled ‘Young Shakespeare’, recorded 50 years ago for German TV, just two months after the release of the exceptional ‘After The Gold Rush’. What an album. There will be a CD, Vinyl or Deluxe Box Set with the CD/Vinyl/DVD.

There is a new NEW ORDER Live release now up for pre-order through Warner. ‘Education Entertainment Recreation : Live at Alexandra Palace’ captures the band’s show from London in 2018. 2 Hours and 20 Minutes of hits upon hits upon hits from their catalogue, and a few Joy Division covers. It’s coming on 2CD, 2CD/BluRay or Vinyl. Out in May.

A nice one which has just gone live (quite literally, announced at 5PM today, Wednesday 17th) is a new live release from BLACK PUMA’s, called ‘Capitol Cuts’. This is gonna be limited on red vinyl, and is due for release in June

I’ll rattle through the rest, there’s quite a bit there so I don’t want to keep ye all day! Coming over the next few weeks / months there is a new deluxe edition of FLEETWOOD MAC’s ‘Live’ as a 3CD/2LP/7” box set,  a new JOE STRUMMER release ‘Assembly’, featuring tracks from his solo career, and live versions of hits from the Clash. This is coming on CD, Vinyl or Limited Red Vinyl. Other bits now up on the site for pre-order are THE SNUTS debut albumnew ROSE CITY BANDa new MOTORHEAD live release, the debut album from Dublin’s FOR THOSE I LOVERHIANNON GIDDENS (with Francesco Turrisi) new releasea deluxe edition on CD and Vinyl of DUA LIPA’s most recent album ‘Future Nostalgia’, and the second collaboration LP from MATT SWEENEY / BONNIE ‘PRINCE’ BILLY called ‘Superwolves’. Finally from me this week, Music On Vinyl have a few nice coloured, limited vinyl reissues from WILLIE NELSONJOHN MAYALL & THE BLUESBREAKERS, and THE MEN THEY COULDN’T HANG.

That’s it from me, back to the bossman!

Thanks Bob!! Before I go there is a lovely charity release CD coming out on the 26th of February.. SomeRiseSomeFall brings together a bunch of musicians who record their own takes on some obscure enough songs.. Here is the info on it : SomeRiseSomeFall is a community of songwriters, musicians, and creatives based in Cork that features singer songwriters such as John Blek, Anna Mitchell, Rowan, Marlene Enright and Kevin Herron .
‘No Simple Highway’ will be released on Feb 26th with all proceeds in aid of Aware Ireland ( supporting those affected by anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder or a mood related condition) . The album pairs carefully selected songs and performers, overseen by project director Michael Fitzgerald (FITZZ Records), to create new  interpretations and recordings of songs written by Jerry Garcia & Robert Hunter, Joanna Newsom, Beth Gibbons, Jimmy Lafave, Eilen Jewell, Country Joe McDonald, Roy Wood, Greg Trooper, David Ball, Jackson C Frank, Eliza Carthy and The Milk Carton Kids.

Lastly, just a couple for the 12th of March as I need to order in the next day or two.. BRAND NEW HEAVIES Live LP (first timer) ‘SHIBAYA 357’ on Acid Jazz Records is out, also a brand new ROB ZOMBIE album on Nuclear Blast, a new THUNDER album and finally a SLAYER coloured LP reissue of ‘Repentles’..

Before I go here’s my favourite song from the Bleeding Heart Pigeons album... Apt title for the world we are in.. ‘Dig a Hole And Then, Fill It In Again’..
