One that was announced in the last week and one that we are really excited about is the news of the new THE MURDER CAPITAL album in Januray 2023..” gigi’s recovery” will be available to us on CD, std vinyl and indie shop only pink vinyl…3 and a half years since the stunning debut album,  we hugely believe in this band, the night of the launch in the crane lane will live long in the memory for those of us there…it was thursday the 15th of October and it was a  special night…the shopping centre in Douglas  was burnt down on Sat the 31st of Aug..highs and lows folks..sher thats life…here is the cracking new tune from the new album “ a thousand lives”

Lots more on TMC over the next few months I’m sure..

The main week for plugging this week is the 21st of October releases, so Warner for the 21st have the brand new album from SIMPLE MINDS “ direction of the heart” on cd, deluxe cd and lp via BMG…its the bands 18th studio album…they were a massive stadium band at one point as ye know but still making good music…i think Kerr and Burchill live in Sicily or Sardania or somewhere like in Italy now…here is “ vision thing” from the new album..

(121) Simple Minds – Vision Thing (Official Audio) – YouTube

Warner also have a brand new album from AVANTASIA ( 9TH studio album) “ a paranormal evening with the moonflower society” on a host of physical formats …cd, ltd digibook cd, ltd artbook/bonus instrumental cd, std lp, ltd pic disc lp and indies coloured lp…released via metal /hard rock label Nuclear Blast.

There is the picture disc release of MADONNAs “ erotica” 12” single also on the 21st of Oct.

Universal for the 21st Oct have quite a bit…none bigger than the new TAYLOR SWIFT album “ midnights” via EMI…it is available now on a host of physical formats….4 different cd variants as well as 4 different coloured lp variants. A few weeks ago i spoke about the biggest stars born in the music game this century and I forgot this lady…my bad…she fully deserves to be up there…always striving forwards ( sometimes against a shit storm) but always making credible well written music…she deserves a huge amount of respect…her last 3 or 4 albums have been really good. I vaguely remember back in the day something with Kanye West where he came on stage at the grammys or some awards ceremony and embarrassed her ( and himself ) after Taylor won the award by saying the Beyonce album, video or something was the best and not Taylors…she was only 17 at the time i think…some said after it was all orchestrated ..sher i dont know, she was only a kid. She has proven herself to be one of the 21st century greatest artists in my opinion…give her music a go sometime, the last 3 or 4 records are really good…shes a fan of the aul record shops as well so we are bound to like her then…some see us for what we are, some dont..Taylor is in our corner, we will take that. Going back to the greatest acts ever from a few weeks ago, i playfully left the forgotten man of music out..a Mr. David Bowie…sher i was only playing like..

EMI also has the new album from LOYLE CARNER “ hugo” on cd. Lp and indies lp version. I listen to a bit of bbc radio 6 most sundays and Loyle was doing a show back along for a few weeks…a right muso, smart, informative dude who loves his tunes…i think he said one day his name is Coyle Larner ( i could be wrong there) …here is “ hate” from the new album

(123) Loyle Carner – Hate – YouTube

ANDREA, MATTEO & VIRGINIA BOCELLI has a christmas album on Decca “ a family christmas” Andrea with his 24 year old son and 10 year old daughter.

Primary Wave has OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN “ greatest hits 45th anniversary” edition on CD or 2LP.

Last one from Universal for the 21st of  OCT is the MICK HANLY & MICHEAL O DOMHNAILL album “ celtic folkweave”.
“Originally released in 1974 on Polydor Records, Mick Hanly & Mícháel Ó Domhnaill’s Celtic Folkweave is considered one of the most seminal albums in the Irish traditional music genre. The album features some of Ireland’s most well-regarded traditional musicians, including Mick Hanly, Mícháel Ó Domhnaill, Liam O’Flynn, Matt Molloy, Donal Lunny, Tommy Peoples, Declan McNeils & Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill. All of the musicians on Celtic Folkweave would go on to make notable contributions to the Irish and Celtic music genres, with Molloy, Lunny, Ní Dhomhnaill, Ó Domhnaill, and Peoples ending up in The Bothy Band, one of the most influential bands playing Irish traditional music in the 1970s. Remastered with additional tracks, this album features four bonus tracks, and the previously unreleased The Banks Of Sweet Primroses. The album artwork is designed by Des O’Meara & Partners and is centered around a triskelion graphic, a neolithic design featuring a triple spiral with rotational symmetry. Celtic Folkweave will be available on CD and LP.”

Sony for the 21st of Oct have the brand new album from A HA “ true north” on cd, std lp or indies only coloured lp…as a child was a bit of an A HA fan…had “ hunting high and low” and “ scoundrel days” on vinyl and used play them to death…i reckon i was around 12 or 13. 9th studio album this one…here is “ im in” from the new record…nice song.

Here is more on the band: “God Alone are a 5 piece math/noise rock band hailing from Cork, Ireland comprised of students of the CIT Cork School Of Music. They combine the dense atmosphere of post metal with elements of indie, hardcore, jazz and dance music. They self released their debut EP “INTIVIM” in late 2016 to critical acclaim and subsequently released their first full length release: titled “Poll na mBrón”, an album based on events and stories from Our Lady’s “Hospital” of Cork. Shortly after the release of their debut full length, they returned to the studio to create their most eclectic mix of sounds yet: their sophomore self titled EP, released in November 2019 which enabled them to embark on their first Ireland and UK headline tour. They have played numerous Irish festivals including Townlands Carnival, Monolith Festival and the Siege of Limerick and were recently crowned winners of the “Mammothfest Best Band Competition” of Mammothfest in Brighton, beating 200 bands across Ireland and the UK who battled through the heats. They are also currently booked to appear at ArcTanGent 2022 in the UK. Their self described “sad metal with some dancey bits” heard on their first single release “Dagda” has been described by Overblown as “a blast of visceral fury and dance floor filling interludes”. They have been featured and interviewed on numerous media platforms including Hot Press, Totally Cork, Kerrang and Metal Hammer. Their latest release will see them push the boundaries of metal even further, until it cracks. “The band’s new self-titled EP hits that sweet spot in a way that makes God Alone memorable from the get-go.” – KERRANG. “God Alone that you realize what makes the next generation of metal bands so special.” – METAL HAMMER.

The Orchard also for the 21st sees the release of the second collection of ‘B Sides and Rarities’ from Rumer on Vinyl,  a Very Limited Caroline Polachek 7″ (to which cuts will inevitably need to be made according to the rep) Rubblebucket with a Pink Swirl Vinyl and Per Husby Septett on BBE. We also have Metal from Inclination, Krisiun and EXHUMED.

Integral for the 21st of Oct has quite a few…brand new albums, indie coloured versions on most of them…by ARCTIC MONKEYSDRY CLEANINGBIBIO..a new ep by ANNA CALVI, reissues by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and THE LIBERTINES and also a live 3lp by MY MORNING JACKET.

Going to hand ye over to Shane now as he takes ye down the road with the interesting announcements etc…

Sound Ray!
How’s it going everyone? Hopefully as well as can be.
There’s a good few to mention this week again. Stuff is ramping up now with Santa around the corner (but Halloween first!)

First up is yet another new release from legend NEIL YOUNG. He’s with CRAZY HORSE again for a brand new album ‘World Record’, out on November 18th. Fair play to him, incredibly productive. Great passion in his lyrics. Here’s a song from it, https://youtu.be/aTouMWlq754

Second up is another legend, PAUL WELLER with an interesting compilation set ‘WILL OF THE PEOPLE’
Here’s a bit about it:
“Back in the autumn of 2003, the Fly On The Wall 3LP & 3CD collection brought together a wealth of Paul Weller solo recordings that stretched back to 1991. The B-sides, 12” EP tracks, single remixes and ‘live’ recordings featured all had one thing in common, namely that they hadn’t been included on any of his hugely successful solo albums. Furthermore, in many instances, they’d become highly sought after as the original 7”, 10”, 12” and CD singles and promo’s that first aired them were fetching significant sums from fans and collectors.

Will Of The People follows up Fly On The Wall and takes the listener through a similar mix of rarities, this time spanning the period 2002 to 2021. Like its predecessor not only does it make for some great listening but it’s a superb way to hear all those hard to get solo tracks that haven’t been featured on an album before. This collection has been compiled by Paul Weller himself and Paul has provided artwork ideas and sketches for the design. Alongside this Paul has written track-by-track sleeve notes. The release includes additional sleeve notes from writer and broadcaster John Wilson.”

Adam’s a big Weller fan so I’m sure he’ll be interested!

Thirdly is a band I like, saw them in Belfast a few years ago, PARAMORE. They have a brand new album called ‘This is Why’ coming out in February next year. Their sound has changed a bit over the last few albums from their earlier punkier days but the songs are still great. Here’s the title track from it, sounds good: https://youtu.be/xIYJ7VaSxYY

Fourth is a nice deluxe gatefold reissue of IRON MAIDEN’s ‘Number of the Beast’ (40th Anniversary). Classic album! 3 LP including a live concert and the inclusion of ‘Total Eclipse’ on the original album/tracklist. Bruce Dickinson’s first album with them. He’s another legend. It’s coming out on November 18th, bit pricey though.

Also coming out around the corner: a THAT PETROL EMOTION CD box set‘Homework Remixes’ by DAFT PUNK , another EDDIE PILLER compilation record, this time ‘Acid Jazz’
a 25th anniversary picture disc of SPICE GIRLS ‘Spice World’
A 6 LP or 3 CD set of B-sides and rarities from PJ Harvey (November 4th) (maybe should have mentioned that earlier)
A 20th anniversary deluxe reissue FLAMING LIPS ‘Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots’ on 5 LP or 6 CD sets, two FRANK BLACK and the Catholics releases, CD and red vinyl release from TOYAH,
Live from Lund 1970 2 CD album from PINK FLOYD and also a deluxe coloured edition of SHARON VAN ETTEN‘s latest album from this year.

Here are the lads with the video as well.
https://youtu.be/cC4_xo–HG0

Back to you Ray so bud, cheers.

Thanks Shane!

Lastly so for this week is INTEGRAL for the 28th of Oct and sticking with the Irish flavour…( from an artistic /creative stand point i think we punch way above our weight for a small country…maybe tis green tinted glasses i dunno) Partisan records has the new AOIFE NESSA FRANCES album “ protector” on cd . lp or indies LP…here is “ emptiness follows” from the second album

(124) Aoife Nessa Frances – Emptiness Follows (Official Video) – YouTube

New albums also from JARV IS…, ASGEIRDEAD CROSS ( Supergroup) , NIGHTMARES ON WAX…there is a deluxe reissue of latest BICEP album “ isles” ( northern irish again) and reissue of MICK TAYLORS first 2 solo albums in one double vinyl  and lastly “ a modern jazz symposium of music & poetry” by CHARLES MINGUS mastered from analogue tapes by Kevin Gray.

Sin e for this weeks folks..

As Prince heard down here 30 odd years ago ( not our proudest moment, I remember being awkwardly  embarrassed by it as a 16 year old, now he was acting the bit of a langer on his king size bed with his guitar squealing for about 20 minutes)…. OLE OLE OLE OLE!

Thanks for listening

Ray Shane and young Adam.
