Hey everyone,

Hope all is well.

There is quite a lot to mention and talk about tonight so I will rock on.

Universal have quite a few new releases worth a mention for the 28th of August.

Uni are hoping for a big chart topping release from THE WEEKEND, who is a Canadian alternative R & B artist with a couple of huge international hits already from this new record.

They also have a debut album from ELLA EYRE, she is a talented 21 year old Londoner, signed to the same label as THE STRYPES, Virgin/EMI.

Uni also have a debut record from American indie pop singer HALSEY, who had a massive hit in the states with “Americana”…..

Universal have some class reissues also for the 28th August and first mention here goes to TASTE (was a close call).

The two TASTE studio albums (self titled and on the boards) are being reissued as a 4 CD set called “I’ll remember” which includes remastered versions of the aforementioned classics plus two extra discs of previously unreleased live recordings……looking forward to that release in the Music Zone Corporation…..Dowtcha Rory boy….

There is a companion to the TASTE box set out the same day if the set a bit rich for your blood….a 16 track collection for 6 euro….for young readers a nice introduction to our own genius….MR. RORY GALLAGHER….

NIRVANA, the posthumous collection gets a Vinyl release as a deluxe 45 rpm double LP and a standard 33rpm on 180 gram with codes. Kurt’s solo album from ‘montage of heck’ is in November.

The brilliant 1997 BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB record gets the Vinyl reissue treatment also….great listen as ye probably know already.

Lastly from Universal are more DEEP PURPLE reissues “ from the setting son – in wacken “ on 3 LP, 2CD/DVD, DVD and BLURAY “ to the rising son – in Tokyo) on the same formats.

Quick word on our boys from Cavan with an average age of 18 and a half….second long player record out tomorrow….and its really strong in my opinion also…really strong…..musically and vocally strong…great guitar, bass, drums, harmonica…

.all the ingredients for a great rock n roll strypes

record which is exactly what it is…few standout tracks in there but overall very strong in my opinion, such a huge step forward from the debut…. good few songs about getting laid and girls but hey there 18 year old boys I suppose after all….they wont always be writing about that….reviews a small bit mixed…mostly 4 out of 5s, read a couple of 3 out of 5s also and one dick from the Guardian who gave it 2 out of 5….no problem with the 2 out of 5 and that’s not why he is a dick, welcome to his opinion….he is a dick because he bases his two out of five seemingly on the songwriting as he mocks some lyrics…..they are 18 you knobhead….macca wrote she loves you yeah yeah yeah when he was 20 and he wrote “blackbird” when he was 26….” Blackbird singing in the dead of night, take these broken wings and learn to fly, all your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arise”

Which is about the civil rights movement in the states in the late 60’s and the black mans struggles over there at the time…Macca’s use of the lyric blackbird was symbolic of that struggle….what a difference six years made in songwriting, that’s why Mr Guardian man is a dick.

Sony for the 28th have a JIMI HENDRIX reissue –live at the Atlanta pop festival on double CD and double LP recorded just 10 ten weeks before his passing and has all the big tunes.

Sony also has a 35 track VAN MORRISON collection spanning his whole career.

And some beauties get the VINYL reissue treatment….JOHNNY CASH “ at folsom” and “ at san Quentin” and ELVIS PRESLEY “ self titled” and “ 30 number 1s”.

Warner mainly have reissues for the 28th …some strong ones there though.

LP reissues on rhino of “the real thing” and “angel dust” from FAITH NO MORE.

WARNER also have a LINDA RONSTADT double CD best of thingy…NOEL GALLAGHER’S new 7 inch single “ lock all the doors the strypes are in town” ( the last 5 words I made up) with a non album track as a b side…..ROBERT CRAY has an interesting live release entitled “ 4 nights of 40 years live” on 2 CD/DVD, BLURAY/2 CD and 2 LPs….THE FACES have a 5 CD AND 5 LP box set out….LP set limited to 7500 worldwide.

Two new albums also from Warner….the fourth album from FOALS “what went down” ….lots expected… and the 22nd album from MOTORHEAD “ bad magic”.

Pias have the new record from BEACH HOUSE “depression cherry” on Bella union, which sounds like it could be a really good listen, there is also a new YO LA TENGO album , DESTROYER who is the NEW PORNOGRAPHERS Dan Bejar with a new record….and a couple on nuclear blast from SOILWORK and NILE.

There is an LP release of THE NATIONAL’S six hour song/jam on 9 LPs….it’s entitled “ a lot of sorrow” ….no wonder there was after six hours, surprised there wasn’t some death also….sometimes THE NATIONAL/ the dessner’s get a bit to arty farty up their own arsies for my own liking….made a few great records and seem to really love Cork but what’s this about like….now I haven’t listened and it may be mind blowing but its six hours…has anyone listened to it all???… as we’d say in Cork….come off the stage lads….literally.

I wanted to talk some more about the demise of INDI entertainment….the main CD wholesaler for Irish artists/products….there was a bit on Joe Duffy during the week so I will attach the link there now but talk about it next week as its pushing after 1 now….!rii=9%3A20830946%3A53%3A17%2D08%2D2015%3A

You may need to type in INDI ENTERTAINMENT to hear this link….i didn’t have the skills….sorry…gave up!!

CARGO have a real early days NIRVANA CD release when they were called SKID ROW pre dave grohl on drums….two different radio broadcasts’ from the states.

There is a WARNER VINYL promotion, between 10% and 40% discounts on certain titles ….some great albums there folks…..if anyone is interested just holler.

On the local scene, the new tune and video from JOHN BLEK AND THE RATS was released this week gone….man it’s a cracker….this gang are really excellent musicians…it really has wet my appetite for the new album out on the 18th of September….i know they are really happy with the record and if this track is anything to go by, then a real treat is in store….i love it love it love it….even though John is very scary in the video…….we hope to have John and a few of the lads in around the release day….will keep you posted….there are a few tickets still left I think for the launch gigs in COUGHLANS on the 24 and 25th of September….gig not to be missed I would think….let your ears be the judge and not my words…

Remember if you cant get into us….its free shipping on three records or more….did I say free…

Sin e for this week,

Thanks for listening,

Hey everyone,

Hope all is good.

There is only so much giving out one man can do, but seeing as the summer has arrived, today is sweetness and light, more love street than unlovable, more little deuce coupe than trapped under ice.

Right lets go…it’s finally nearly here….the second album from the four young fellas from County Cavan THE STRYPES.

Yes “little victories” is with us on Friday the 21st of August through Virgin/Emi who is owned by Universal these days for those of you who care about that stuff.

Available on three formats….CD at 12 euro, deluxe CD with four bonus tracks for 15 euro and VINYL RECORD for 20 euro.

Us here at the Music Zone Corporation have been banging on about these boys for a few years….i think I wrote a bit about them in this newsletter about two years back when the debut album came out….if anyone still has that…send it on to me please…i cant find it.

Basically I think I said that these boys could be the biggest band the music industry will see this decade or indeed for many a year. (Christ sake Ray….you say that ever week or two about some band!………..i don’t really)

I still stand by that, I have great belief in them….

They have taken a big step forward sonically and lyrically with this only their second long player….and a combined age of just 73….yeah, the singer Ross will not be 18 till September.

They are young, Irish, really tight musicians and a real rock and roll band….what is there not to like or try and support….

If they can stay together I really do think they can blow up…really blow up….as they mature they all will start contributing more, lyrically and musically….i think so anyway… is really exciting time for the band…I really hope they can keep those size 8’s on the ground….i think they will, good sound heads on young shoulders.

These guys have it in my opinion.

We have a competition or two running on twitter etc….

We are getting a few signed copies….i hope an LP or two….definitely will have three signed copies of the album on some formats and another four unsigned deluxe CDs to give away also… chance to win one is come in on Friday and buy one…if you win it…you can swap for anything else.

The first 25 people to buy the album next Friday will be entered into a draw for a copy of the signed LP or at least signed CD… at 9.30…..and the rest will be entered into another draw for unsigned copies…..entrants to these secondary draws is for anyone who buys any format of the record on the day.

Does that make any sense!!!?? .

Another big release (rush release) is the soundtrack by DR DRE to the film COMPTON… I heard this is a really strong album….only on CD format for now.

The JOHN LENNON catalogue is reissued on Vinyl record for next Friday also including albums “ imagine” , “ the plastic ono band” and “ double fantasy” .

The first two records by D’ANGELO get the vinyl reissue treatment also…1995’s debut “brown sugar” and 2000’s follow up “voodoo”.

Right so, lastly from universal is another Irish band starting their journey with a major label….in fact their second single….Limerick 3 piece BLEEDING HEART PIGEONS who have been compared to early Radiohead ….no pressure their so lads…..have a listen here

WARNER for the 21st August have a few decent releases also which include JESS GLYNNE’s new album….quite a bit of interest in this one in store in recent weeks.

WARNER also have the 6th record from American metal band DISTURBED ….huge stateside…the last four records debuting at numero uno in the billboard album charts.

Quite a bit of interest here in it also.

The first two ORBITAL RECORDS GET THE VINYL RECORD REISSUE TREATMENT….the green album and the brown album with codes included.

Last to mention from Warner this week is the new CD from WILCO “star wars” which I am hearing from very good sources is one of the best albums of the year so far….LP later in the year….have a listen to it all here.

Sony only really have a reissue of BUSH’s sixteen stone on Vinyl and a NOW that’s what I call house compilation on CD.

PIAS have a few to note for the 21st of August starting with DRINKS – this is a collaboration project with CATE LE BON and TIM PRESLEY from WHITE FENCES…debut from them on Heavenly entitled “ hermits on holiday”….sounds a ok to me…

The first two FALL records get the reissue treatment also via Pias.

New release also from KADAVAR….more psycheldic rock for me than metal and I have an older, sensitive ear.

Available on CD, DELUXE CD and DOUBLE LP

Another couple of interesting ones out from AFX ( APHEX TWIN) BRIANA MARELA ( INTERESTING)

aphex               markylan

GARDENS AND VILLA and lastly a MARK LANEGAN RECORD CALLED “HOUSTON” which is collection of 12 unreleased songs from 2002 that were selved for some reason…god knows why when you hear this….Mark has some voice…..

ESSENTIAL have the new FRATELLI’S record for next week.

REPUBLIC OF MUSIC has a live release by the great WALLIS BIRD covering 4 albums over 7 years on double CD and double LP….16 TRACKS.

I have attached CARGO’s most interesting releases for August.

MUSIC ON VINYL has a few nice ones coming up also…I have attached their newest releases also.

Check out the website for all movers and shakers and if you can’t get in to us, remember it is free shipping for 3 records or more if you want us to post….a fiver for one record to be posted, a fiver for two records to be posted and tis free shipping in Ireland for as many records as you like after that and we use wider and longer cardboard mailers where the LP sits protected in the middle and nowhere near the sides where it can get damaged.

Sin e for this week…

Thanks for listening!!

Hi everyone,

Hope all is good.

This week’s releases are mainly if not fully for the 14th August even though I ordered these records two weeks ago or maybe more.

This new release day change to Friday’s has changed everything for us (even though we were always the Friday!!) we now have to have pre orders in nearly two weeks earlier than before.

That’s all good for making sure we get the product on time and for having information on the new releases that bit earlier…

This is not me being a grouchy bastard or being slow to change (well there is a bit of that in it!!) but my real concern is not having time enough to get a vibe from the shop/customers about a release….before when I sent out the newsletter on a Thursday or Friday, I had only ordered the records a day or two before….8 days lead time now 22 days in most cases….

What’s the problem Ray?? I hear you say

I am having a grumble is all…because everything we put on the shelves more or less we have to pay for 30 days later ….sell it or not, that bit doesn’t matter!!

So having a tighter deadline to release date would suit indie guys like me (would not suit bigger players in the game of love) because it gives me more of a feel for what will move off the shelves….less risk involved, the closer to release day the more idea I have what will sell through because sometimes it’s a crystal ball, and the ball game can be rigged….an example please…

A couple of years ago, Christmas 2013, when 1D were in their prime, I know, I know, their movie was being released on DVD on the 19th of December, one order before Christmas (god, isn’t it getting close now) we were told….biggest DVD that Christmas…..two minutes there now and I will just get my crystal ball and tell ye how many we will sell….still have 25 of them and some….the winner takes it all…

I may have got off to a bad start this week…

Will I start again, less cranky maybe?

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying the summer…

This week mainly covers releases for the 14th August.

We will start with PIAS for this week that has a few nice releases.

First up from them is a definitive compilation album of GARY NUMAN/TUBEWAY ARMY best known hits on LP for the first time.

Pias have the first in a series of PAVEMENT rarities records being released, this 30 track DLP has b-sides, rarities, john peel sessions and a live concert from 1992.

Pias also have MARK KOZELEK and THE RED HOUSE PAINTERS four records on 4AD reissued for the first time in donkeys…..this came as a much sought after box set for RSD , but now coming individually…” down colourful hill” “rollercoaster” “ bridge” and “ocean beach”.

The new SOULFLY album is out next week via NUCLEAR BLAST on CD, CD/DVD and LP and lastly from PIAS is a reissue of THE SUGARCUBES debut “ lifes too good” on neon green VINYL for good measure.

sugarcubes                                    replace

WARNER for next Friday the 14th have influential alternative rock band from state side THE REPLACEMENT’s, with a limited numbered vinyl box set of there first four albums “ sorry ma” “ hootenanny” let it be “ and “tim”…..( those of you who watched the video earlier will notice I plugged it on that also but its not out till next week…arrived a week before it is out, I ordered it a few weeks back…so you can see how I don’t know what day of the week it is….and why I was grumbling at the top of the page)

Warner also has a TOM PAXTON double CD reissue out next week.

I received some sad news today for me on a personal level and the Irish music retail industry.

A rep from the main supplier of Irish music in this country ( INDI ENTERTAINMENT) whom I have know for over 20 years rang to say that the company was being liquidated and was closed with immediate affect.

It should not have overly surprised me but I got a bit of a jolt….good, friendly, honorable people worked for INDI down through the years….they will be a loss to me.

Tough time for the 11 employees and owner, I wish them all well.

INDI moved into the old Sony music warehouse on the Naas road when Sony moved all distribution to the UK nearly 20 years ago (times were good…Sony music had a warehouse in Ireland….Christ lads they were selling units then!!)

INDI’s customer base has whittled away over the last 5 or 6 years, having now about 12 independents doing biz with them on a regular basis, Golden Discs, Eason’s and HMV.

INDI never got into the vinyl market over the last 3 years and more significant in their demise is Irish artists ( not signed to a major) are tending to do distribution themselves and you can’t blame them….HAM SANDWICH got a number one album in Ireland through a self funded, self promoted and self distributed album ….fair play like

I have noticed myself how we as a shop are going more and more direct with musicians in Ireland now, up and coming artists as well as better known names like MARY COUGHLAN and KIERAN GOSS who had albums out recently and who would traditionally be with INDI.

There is little enough money in the game than having to give it to a distribution company as well as a retailer…..i suppose a retailer gives a presence in store and more if something is liked….have I mentioned how good the SHAKER HYMN album is??

So artists ultimately would like people to buy direct from their websites but I think most artists see the benefit of it being in a retail shop, but a handler in between…?

Still a great shame…they were a sound bunch to deal with and if they could only have hung on you never know what’s around the corner.

Poses a biggish problem for me with certain products going forward in the short term but that is of little importance.

I am going to call a spade a spade here, and these views are my own, in case the big dog comes looking for me.

HMV when they kind of went bust in Feb 2013, they caught INDI for 220k in unpaid invoices for their Christmas stock and more….”i’ll take the money and run to you baby, I’ll take the money and run”…..and I was told today that INDI never really recovered from that hit they had to take from HMV.

HMV basically put them out of business (albeit slowly and maybe it would have happened in 12 months or so anyway, but who knows??)

The HMV brand is still doing the rounds, and it is the legalities of it that are the problem and not ultimately HMV, but I just think it is morally wrong what occurred.

The company is gone but the brand can live…run by the same people?? Who knows…

Ok let the brand live….but have some pay back clause from that brand to the small indigenous business who gets fucked over…HMV reported 17 million profit…..

PAY BACK THE F***ING MONEY YE OWE SO…..simplistic I know but I am just annoyed by it….bit

rich people

like the AIB announcing 1.2 billon profit for first six months of the year….lets double small business charges….were backing brave….brave my bollocks…

Anyway, anyway…

BILL WYMAN’s new album is getting its VINYL release through Music on VINYL at the start of Sept.

UNIVERSAL has the next in the series of 7 “ vinyl box sets from THE WHO…

They also have a STATUS QUO 11 LP vinyl record box set and a CD release of the music from TRUE DETECTIVE TV series.

SONY for the 14th has a new BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE release “ venom” on CD, DELUXE CD and LP.

I read a real interesting article on the infancy of piracy in the mp3 form….well worth a read…guy in question a real pillar of society I’d say with the morals of the HMV board who rears pitbulls and likes boy toys…….my kinda guy… cranky this week.

Lastly on the local scene, the STRYPES second album is out on the 21st August.

We at MUSIC ZONE TOWERS will have about 6 or 7 freebies to give away….3 or 4 of which will be signed by the lads themselves…..running various competitions on the aul social media lark so follow us or like us to see details….will have more next week anyway.

Lastly, hot off the press ( ing plant) NEIL YOUNG latest is out on LP next Friday the 14th

also…..33% cheaper than his last record…..still 40 euro.

Anyway, sin e for this week…

Sunshine and light next week..

Thanks for listening!

Hey Everyone,

Hope all is good.

This week’s newsletter focuses on new releases for Friday the 31st of July.

First up so is the  last installment in the LED ZEPPELIN studio albums reissues through swansong/ Atlanta/ Warner.

Will Page and Co drive on now with some similar live releases….they/ he must have loads of said material….time will tell….what’s your guess???

They / he needs the Johnny Cash??

So the ZEPP reissues of “presence” “in through the out door” and “coda” are out on the 31st …..again for regular readers on the five formats…CD, DELUXE CD, LP, DELUXE LP and SUPER DOUPER FANCY BOXY DELUXEY THINGY.

zepcod                   zepbox

Coda is a triple LP and a triple CD.

Don’t want to break a habit of a lifetime so anybody want to throw a nod my way re there favourite format… will be gladly and kindly received.

Warner also has the LP release of the latest ERIC CLAPTON “forever man” compilation on two records.

Warner lastly has the new album from folk, soul singer from London town LIANNE LA HAVAS.

Staying in London town, UNIVERSAL for the 31st of July has the return of the MACCABEE’s with their fourth record “marks to prove it” first since 2012.

There is also the reissue of the debut album by PLACEBO.

Fine album it was as well in my opinion….Nancy boy and teenage angst a couple of big hits but over all a fine record.

Universal have the release of the capitol recordings from THE BAND.

There is a nine LP box set retailing at 150 euro with us or the 8 capitol albums individually.theband

Universal also have STYX vinyl reissues including “paradise theatre”.

I was reading something last week about the new apple streaming service, to compete with Spotify and the article was about sound quality.

The bit rate that Apple is using for their streaming service is 256 kbps, same as that used with iTunes downloads.

Spotify stream at 360 odd kbps…..a CD is transferred at 1400 kbps….when TOM PETTY said that when you buy an iTunes download you are only getting 20% of the quality…..the bit rate in music terms is kilobit per second and this refers to the number of bits processed per unit of time ( without getting to techie about it!!) so maybe hard to argue with Mr. Petty……not fully the case though, there is more to it than just bit rates but over all the CD is much better quality….end of story.

The day will come when the download will be the same quality and maybe better…..who knows in ten years…..slow down, you move to fast, you gotta make the moment last……

Why bore ye with this lecture?????

Because some people seem to think the CD is shite….everyday “the CDs are gone are they” “everyone must be downloading now” “does anyone buy CDs anymore” .

It is simply people’s perception of the product, and not the truth.

In brass tax, it is still one of the best quality formats to listen to music….second arguably and only to Vinyl.

Off course I am going to say these things….

Example Raymond….

Listen to Queens “another one bits the dust” on YouTube, 360 kbps I think or less, and you will hear Mr Deacon’s exceptional groovy bass line no problem. ( quiet enough song)

Listen to Zepp’s “dazed and confused” which has a brilliant bass line also and its fine in parts but when it gets loud….its gone….gone….meshed in with the rest of the melody…..i cant hear it anyway….then listen to it on CD… can hear it all the way through without needing a magnifying glass for your ears or the equivalent, you know what I mean!!!

Basically CD gets an unfair wrap in opinion….some people feel borderline embarrassed for buying a CD……

Because it is so much worse than a download….!!!

10 Euros for a new album on ITunes….no cover, no nothing….good melodies.

“Do ye sell iTunes vouchers”….. says I, I do in my roll.

Whatever people choose whatever format they like, across the board, should be cool and certainly not something to be embarrassed about, once you’re looking for fun and feeling groovy.

Now, I’m feeling a bit better….who’s next.

Sony has a new BUDDY GUY CD “BORN TO PLAY GUITAR” fair enough title I think you would agree!

Pias for the 31st of July have the third solo album from ALBERT HAMMOND JUNIOR from

THE STROKES as ye know and son of senior as ye know.alham

Little topic for the forum, maybe I am missing the obvious here but not a whole pile of successful musical offspring to famous parents that I can think of anyway.

Julian Lennon, Adam Cohen, the Marley boys, Ziggy and Damian, Kim Wilde….maybe I am having a mind freeze….are there more? And more obvious ones?

The young Mr. Hammond’s record is on white vinyl. Here it is :

Pias also have a record from ASTRID WILLIAMSON who is and was and can be a bit part member of DEAD CAN DANCE.

Bit of a change to our opening hours as there is a bit of a siege/squabble between Dunnes and the landlord at the moment.

The centre is now only open mon to weds 9 to 6, thurs 8 to 9, Friday 8 to 9 , sat 9 to 6 and sun 12 to 6… cant enter the centre unless within those times…..even though Dunnes are open 8am to 9 pm on a Monday….you can only get into Dunnes between 9 and 6….confused….Dunnes are meant to pay for the centre security when they are the only shop trading…..Monday night at 8.30…..but they aint paying….why….because we are Dunnes….

We used stay till 6.30 every evening early in the week and Saturdays but for now you can’t get in after 6 ….just telling ye….Dunnes will have to crack….losing about 20 odd hours a week trading times…..2 k an hour??? More??

Check out the website for new bits

by the way, got the north sea record during the week and its really good and enjoyed the new MUSE album and the new STEVEN WILSON album this week a lot also.

Sin e for this week,

Thanks for listening,

Music Zone Header Logo_edited-1 (3)

Hey everyone,

Hope all is good…

This week we cover releases/reissues for Friday the 7th of August mainly.

Starting with Universal they have the new FRANK TURNER record, his 6th, out through Polydor on CD, CD/DVD and LP.

I like the title “positive songs for negative people” ….or do I, I think I may prefer negative songs for positive people…..i quite like dreariness and melancholy in music….i know I’m unlovable, you don’t have to tell me……that kind of thing.

Anyway, anyway…Turner gets a bit of stick cos he is a bit of a posh boy…studied at Eton alongside the future King of England and loads of readies in the clan by all accounts…..but I think that is unfair sticks and stones….there is definite talent there also…..have a listen here to a track from the new album….must have cost a few bob to get that wrestler dude in the vid I’d say…..the readies can come in handy I suppose…..bonus disc is a 10 track acoustic set….

greg all

The legendary GREGG ALLMAN has a new release out on 7th also which is a live recording from last year “ BACK TO MACON” which is packed with a load of favourites, available on 3 formats, CD, CD/DVD and LP.

Also a new album out from HEALTH which kind of caught my ear….just my ear maybe…

Sony has a new PAUL KALKBRENNER album out on the 7th also.

It is the seventh album from the German techno guru.

paul kalk

Sony has some nice reissues on vinyl record including PATTI SMITH, RATM and KOL.

These titles are in the shop already as Sony had licensed/ rented them out to Music on Vinyl to reissue them, but now Sony are releasing them, so to tell you the truth I am not sure if both reissues will be in the marketplace going forward or is it tough shite for MOV on some strong titles for them…..i will find out.

Pricing the same on the RAGE album but SONY 3 to 4 euro cheaper on the rest, so that won’t help MOV cause….could be a concern for them I would say.

Man, the hurling last Sunday was a tough watch, well if you are a native rebel anyway…like a stake through the heart….the last time I witnessed it as bad was 1996 down the Pairc against Limerick…JBM was in charge that day also, won an All Ireland then in 99!!!

Just can’t see that type of transformation…not a hope I would think….although 23 months ago Cork were 10 seconds from all Ireland, now it looks like it could be 23 years.

Brolly made a point talking about the other game… have got to win or break even in the battle first…then skill will win the day, without that battling spirit, you’re goosed, KK very seldom lose the fight.

The tone was set very early on, when Mr. Glynn was allowed waltz through untouched,( I like nice hurlers, but you got to have fellas who will give a belt also) and then hits it in from 5 yards ( also you need fella’s to take a belt) …..but I am sure none of us are feeling as dejected, disappointed, low as that whole crew after Sunday…..structures have to change….tough tough task facing everyone involved.

So many issues…

60 million on a BOWL sitting on a river……answer please

Schools hurling gone to the dogs, lay teachers don’t have the time or maybe the interest….back in the day the unchristian brothers would scare the bejesus out of you if you didn’t train…….answer please

Why aren’t the younger fresher minds in charge of any Cork teams at any level…..or club
teams for that matter?

Hi Everyone,

Guess whose back….back again…

It feels like it has been ages since I have bugged ye with my ramblings….lazy boy here only done one newsletter in three weeks….tut tut.

Back at it now, full steam ahead, Christmas is only around the corner!! Ha

Some savage amount of releases due in the next few weeks which is savage unusual for the time of the year (my guess is the record companies want this global release day to work for the big countries so lets get some big releases (reissues mainly, not new stuff) into the shops in the first few weeks….or maybe it is just a coincidence and I’m being a cynical b……. as usual.

Releases in this week’s newsletter are mainly for the 17th July and also now the 24th of July as I hit a few sidetracks last week….

The third record from the fantastically psychedelic rock/pop group from Australia TAME IMPALA “currents” is probably the biggest release of that day, distributed by Universal.

We are big fans of Kevin Parker and Tame Impala here in the shop and the few tracks I have heard have hit the spot again for me anyway….influenced by Jim, John, Robbie and Ray, My Bloody Valentine, KYLIE and the Flaming Lips….that’s a strange enough stew, so for us definitely one of the most interesting bands this decade.

Double LP pressed on yellow and purple LPs for independent record shops only….. (Thank you Mr. Parker for the support!! That stuff helps)

Have a listen to a new track here…

Also advertised for the 17th in this newsletter is the new CHEMICAL BROTHERS record but I got a mail today to tell me it is put back till the 24th of July.

Also out through UNIVERSAL is the soundtrack to the Irish movie “song of the sea” which is basically a new LISA HANNIGAN album….her third solo project I think. ( well 4 tracks anyway….lets call it an EP)

Lastly from Universal there is an album coming out from the front men of BAND OF HORSES and IRON AND WINE, Ben Bridwell and Sam Beam.

WARNER for the 17th has vinyl record reissues from ULTRAVOX – Vienna, THE WATERBOYS – room to roam, ZERO 7 – simple things as well as an ELLIOT SMITH DVD – heaven adores you and a live SUPERTRAMP album from 1979.

Sony for the 17th of July has a MILES DAVIS – live at Newport 55-75 four CD set.

PIAS for the 17th of July have a BRYCE DESSNER/SO PERCUSSION album called “music for wood and strings”.

Bryce seems to be at the cutting edge of experimental projects and this is no different with the use of chordstick instruments for the most of this recording…..CD only.

SAM BEAM gets his second mention of the evening with the release of a 7 track mini album recorded in 2004 with the full CALEXICO band….could be worth a listen.

The Charlatan’s “melting pot” compilation from their beggar’s banquet days on vinyl record is also due in from Pias.

Pias also have more reissues on vinyl record from the brilliant COCTEAU TWINS…the early compilation “ the pink obaque” and the two EPs of “ tiny dynamite” and “ echo’s in a shallow” merged into one LP, both LP’s cut from the analogue tapes and include a download code.

Proper have a vinyl reissue of the cupla million selling record from FAT BOY SLIM “you’ve come a long way baby” for the 17th of July.

Essential for the 17th July have new albums from JASON ISBELL, POWERWOLF and SAMANTHA CRAIN ( bit of a buzz stirring on Samantha)

So above is mainly the stuff ( product or units are the industry buzz words….units, units, units…..we will all be a unit someday with our own little chip inserted into our wrist’s …we will scan ourselves ….beep…beep…beep…beep…..beep… you can drive my car) out in the shop this Friday the 17th of July.

Bored yet??

Because I am only getting started……..

So moving on to July 24th, firstly we are going to mention the genius that is ROGER WATERS (regular readers may have noticed that I would not use that word lightly, A genius is a person who displays exceptionally superior intellectual ability, creativity, or originality…… according to the dictonary) and i think Mr. Waters fits that bill… mention of JOEY BARTON here unlike some commentator some years ago.

Sony are reissuing his “ AMUSED TO DEATH” album across four formats, CD, CD/DVD, DOUBLE LP, DOUBLE PICTURE DISC LP… the title kind of suggests it was based around our obsession with TV and other media forms ( this was in 1992!….the guy was 25 years ahead of his time… phones and all the other bollocks we seem to think is just so important now….i am at it myself this instance….nature of the beast, necessary evil, need to stay in the game….whatever cliche you want to throw at it….it’s still a ball’s…..did anyone see the IRISH PUB documentary on RTE the other night….now that was real and had savage character….these sanitised hospital ward super pubs make me want to vomit…..their was a pub around the corner from my home place some of you may remember it THE TOWER…..and it was just class….wall to wall characters….snug, holy hour, late pints, the whole sabang… me a tradtionilist but i prefered it when i was 20 than any super pub springing up…..totally sidetracked now….i think there was a point in their somewhere i hope you can find it)

It’s high time for a sequel Roger….LP’S are expensive at 40 quid….but…. ah there’s a but…..those gunwielding exponents of retail from a galaxy far far away are 50 bucks….all’s fair in love and battles with invisible cosmic forces.

Sony also have a new JOE SATRIANI album called “ shockwave supernova” out on the 24th as well as some KINKS vinyl reissues ( SONY had a load of the product they owned now licensed/ rented to other labels to manufacture on vinyl but starting to recall them now and re issue themselves)

Sony also has some HENDRIX CD reissues out on the 24th and lastly is the latest in the NOW SERIES ….NOW 91.

The likes of those NOW releases are as important to the shop as a guy who buys a record every 3 months….i may not wax lyriclly about same type releases but i/we certainly do not look down our nose’s at those customers…..x factor winners….whatever you like is super cool with me and always has been…..i doubt if there are many snobbish/elitist record shop owners still trading in Ireland…..think jack black high fidelity….no we always try to help everyone…be it looking for the difficult andre rieu CD or the difficult dead can dance CD…we will do our best….there was a guy in last week…regular to the shop….knows his music….waxing lyriclly about RAY LYNAM……so refreshing…his honest opinion was he thought he was a first rate singer….class ( i probably will regret writing those last couple of lines).

Random thought occured to me as i passed a billboard in Midleton tonight advertising the 10th anniversary of a shopping cente there…..i would now be out of business….on a different road….if i had got what i wished for 10 years ago….a unit in that centre ( those units again) ….i was disappointed at the time and tonight it was like i got hit by a brick…..ray boy you barely hung on when you had one….you would have been a goner if you had two…’s twists and turns…..just be thankful for what you got……have been thinking about the awful awful tradegy that happened to Nick Cave and his family over the last day or so….you just never know.

UNIVERSAL for the 24th july have the vinyl record reissues of the METALLICA studio catologue and S&M also…..from the highs of Master of puppets all the way down to St Anger…..11 records in total being reissued on 180 gram Vinyl.

Universal have a couple of limited northern soul 7” boxsets, the soundtrack to the new movie “ southpaw” featuring EMINEM, a LYNRYD SKYNRYD live album tribute type release and lastly ( gets a mention because of their orange twist attitude) from Beatles territory debut single from foursome CLEAN CUT KID “ vitamin c” on orange scented vinyl….beep beep beep beep yeah!

Warner for the 17th of July have the GAVIN JAMES live in Whelan’s release on vinyl record, another up and coming Irish singer/ songwriter.

Warner for the 24th of July have two more JOY DIVISION releases (peter hook won’t be happy) both on double LP….” STILL” which was a compilation of then unreleased studio and live recordings. “SUBSTANCE” which has the four non album singles with two additional songs.

Warren Haynes third solo album is out via Warner on 24th July, he of GOV’T MULE and ALLMAN BROTHERS fame, it’s on double CD and double LP formats.

The latest in the BOWIE 40th anniversary vinyl picture discs “ fame” is out via Parlophone/ Warner on the 24th also as well as the latest PAUL WELLER 7” single “ going my way “ from his current album which includes a brand new track.

Lastly from Warner is a 4LP SISTERS OF MERCY release “first, and last and always” with the original record and 3 LPs of rarities and b sides from that period.

PIAS for the 24th July, have the BJORK “ vulnicura” reissued again on coloured vinyl this time.

PIAS have new ones from metal acts LAMB OF GOD and SYMPHONY X “underground” and a reissue of GIL SCOTT HERON’s “nothing new” as well as a new FIELD MUSIC record.

Cargo music have two big releases for the 24th of July, firstly is the new SLEAFORD MODS record entitled “ key markets” ….again hats off boys as indies only get it on green vinyl…22 euro.

Cargo also have the reissue of SONIC YOUTH’s third record “ evol” also for the 24th of July.

Music on Vinyl has reissues by SANTANA, KEB MO and DOLLY PARTON.

PIAS are running a Vinyl promotion with between 5 and 25 % off their catalogue….attached is the list….it has a sterling symbol but the prices are in euros….round it to the nearest euro if anyone is interested in anything give me a shout.

On the local scene, we will have copies of the excellent JACK O ROURKE EP tomorrow and have Vinyl and CD copies of THE NORTH SEA debut also on Monday or Tuesday.

Check out these two crackers from Jack and the North Sea

Check out the website for movers and shakers and we might post a video up of Bobby reenacting his Noel Gallagher moment (ask him about it!!)

For those of you asleep, oiche maith, and for those soldiers’ still reading…..Sin e.

Thanks for listening,

Hey Everyone,

Summertime and the releases are iffy….oh stop me oh oh ohh stop me, stop me if you think that you’ve heard this one before….i think I may have used that first line last year…where did the 12 months go.

Summertime is traditional fairly shite for new release product and that is the case for the next fortnight for more than a traditional reason.

Music releases are all moving to a global release day of Friday’s.

We here at home were always Fridays for the new releases so tis no change, I always felt it was nice to have the new stock a few days before our English counterparts….but everyone is on the same page now…..i wonder did some big corporations have a say in the change of release day, if you are a big friendly online giant based in the UK ( FEE FI FOE FUM I SMELL THE BLOOD OF A LITTLE IRISH RETAILER) then you are not as competitive as a physical store on product availability because two weeks ago you could buy MUSE in your little local shop but would only have got it at best a week later from our online beasts ( BE HE ALIVE OR BE HE DEAD, I’LL GRIND HIS BONES TO MAKE MY BREAD)… get my drift id say.

Speaking of Corporations NEIL YOUNG or should I say angry NEIL YOUNG has a right pop at them on his new record on a track called BIG BOX

Having said all that, releases for late July are very strong.

So because of the global release day thing, to streamline, there is hardly anything out on the 3rd of July and for this reason (and finding it hard to get my mojo back after being away) I am going to kill two birds with one stone as they would say and do the releases for two weeks 3rd and 10th of July…hence no newsletter next week, back to normal then folks.

Anyway, few releases for the 3rd JULY

Sony has a new album from LUCY ROSE who a did of vocals with BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB and a new /debut album by BLEACHERS who was one third of the band FUN…

Universal have a hip hop debut record from KREPT AND KONAN.

PIAS have an album by EZRA FURMAN called “perpetual motion people”….bit I heard sounds alright.

So moving on to the 10th of July then….

Warner have the Vinyl reissues of the first five studio albums by the powerful MUSE, some HOLLIES and CHICAGO CD box sets and a new reggae album on VP records by JAH CURE….old school reggae?….have a listen.

UNIVERSAL for the 10th of JULY have the debut album by winners of the sound of the BBC 2015 award YEARS AND YEARS called “communion”.

They have some ICED EARTH LP and CD reissues and a limited 50th anniversary 12” numbered edition of THE ROLLING STONES “SATISFACTION”.

PIAS have a limited live LP of the ANTLERS , the last two BLACK SABBATH LP reissues “ technical ecstasy” and “ never say never”.

Pias for the 10th of JULY also have the new CRADLE OF FILTH album on nuclear blast across five formats and a DUKE ELLINGTON LP reissue.

PROPER for the 10th of JULY has a new ASIAN DUB FOUNDATION record.

MUSIC ON VINYL has a few nice releases towards the end of July including SIMON & GARFUNKEL CONCERT IN CENTRAL PARK and the new one from WILLIE NELSON and MERLE HAGGARD.

I got an email today to return the JOHN LENNON Vinyl box set, all of them are being recalled because there is a duplicate track on the ROCK AND ROLL record….thats a fair few sets recalled and a fair few bob lost over a repeated track……some head somewhere gona spin id say.

See site for new stuff and stuff not so new

Sin e for this week and next!

Thanks for listening,

Hi Everyone,

I am going to fly through the new releases like a Cork man racing for a pint after an all Ireland final win….well the way things are that could be a while.

Rumours are rife of derision in the camp….this fella’s walked out, that fella’s walked out…..2005 since the last all Ireland, the longest in my lifetime for Cork hurling.

Not 20 months ago we were 30 seconds from winning one now it looks like it could be 30 years.

That year Cork’s touch was sublime…..twas clumsy a lot of the time last Sunday and from halfway through the second half even though there was only 4/5 points in it….there was only going to be one winner…..who really stood up and roared I want this….as Johnny Giles says about another game….you gotta win the fight first.

Anyway this is supposed to be a music page and not a Cork hurling page (some passions run deep)

Warner for the 19th has a solo album by TILL LINDEMANN of RAMMSTEIN….not for the faint hearted

and the latest in the ROLLING STONES live reissues on Eaglevision “ from the vault: the marquee live in 1971”

Warner for the 26th of June has a new NEIL YOUNG CD with backing band promise of the real that include a couple of WILLIE NELSON’s youngfellas.

The title is “the monsuato years” and its being released as a CD/DVD.

Warner are reissuing JOY DIVISION’s “unknown pleasures” and “closer”….as PETER HOOK famously once said “ there are two joy division records, all the rest is record company bullshit” although you would have to give a nod to a few live albums also I feel….but you probably see his point or feel his pain as the record company cash’s in on his band’s stuff…..all that said….two GREAT albums above….Curtis just had something, I am not sure exactly what it was, but he could kind of put a spell on you visually and vocally….that’s how I felt anyway…musically it is intoxicating if that makes sense.

There is a JETHRO TULL “ THICK AS A BRICK” LP reissue and THE WHO live in SHEA STADIUM DVD plus the latest JOHNNY MARR 7”.

Universal for the 19th have LP reissues of the first two Small Faces records, reissue of RELISH’s CD’s in a little pack and a nice 47 track JAM anthology for a tenner. ( CD)

PIAS for the 26th of June have singles/eps by FUTURE ISLANDS and FUFUNA as well as albums 4, 5 and 6 by BLACK SABBATH being reissued on 180 gram Vinyl with CD included.

ESSENTIAL for June 26 have a new RICKIE LEE JONES album as well as an interesting TWILIGHT SAD/ ROBERT SMITH double AA sided single…twilirob.throw your hand in the air if you would like one as the rep tells me they me they are limited… that his job?….then hence is that my job?….anyway to f**k if someone wants one let me know.

PROPER have a new BILL WYMAN album for the 19th and a new Richard Thompson album for the 26th, produced by JEFF TWEEDY.

I don’t think there is anything major coming out for the 26th that I have missed….there is a nice Lloyd Cole boxset alright.

Just want to say a word before I go on the boy RORY, Cork’s most famous musical son whose 20th ANNIVERSARY was the other day.doutchaboy

It is nice and an improvement I have to say that there is a bit of activity surrounding this ultimately sad anniversary….RORY is as big a legend as this country has ever produced and long after we are all well and truly gone and forgotten they will still talk of RORY, play RORY, try play like RORY and tell stories of RORY……and I have heard a few down through the years…..i may have told ye the one where an elderly couple where out in ST OLIVIERS cemetery ( maybe a year back) and the husband was walking behind his wife as he saw her talk briefly to this tall well dressed man further up the path… he then passed this man he recognized him as BRIAN MAY from QUEEN whom it transpired had being looking for RORY’s final resting place……all the CORK radio stations, Life fm, Red fm etc, played “tattoed lady” at 1.10pm, a moment in remembrance of the man…..i suppose all I want to say really from one Cork man to a man who called Cork his home is dowtcha RORY BOY you are sadly missed on the streets of Cork and even more so by up and coming musicians, bands….it would be magic if you were mulching around the streets but hey I’ve got that feeling that you gonna make us smile forever as only you can….

Sin e for now,

The lads ( BOBBY and SHANE) will pick up all emails , tweets and that other thing I cant use facebook while I am away….

Thanks for listening

Hey Everyone,
How’s it going?
After last week’s moan, crib, rant, bitch or whatever you would like to call it….this week is mellow yellow, a week’s work (or whatever I choose to call it) left before the O Brien clan head to the sun soaked strands of neighboring County Kerry….positive thinking and visualization! (That’s the key)

Really looking forward to the briste….a lot of ye may think I am a ghost as I am never really around at weekends as Gina works all weekends so I am at home with the smallies, so really great for us all to get away together…so nothing going to increase the blood pressure tonight.
Anyway, enough said, releases this week mainly for the 19th June.

Warner have some nice reissues on Vinyl record of the AIR catalogue….the main one they seem to be pushing is the soundtrack to the Sofia Ford Coppola movie “ the virgin suicides”.

Very underestimated record “the virgin suicides”, it’s a really good listen…..obviously “MOON SAFARI” was huge but the others all interesting in my opinion. (Pocket symphony on a ltd white vinyl)
Warner also has a new release live album from SLASH featuring MYLES KENNEDY and the CONSPIRATOR’S….”live at the Roxy” where they cover not only the new stuff, but also stuff for VELVET REVOVLER and some classics from GUNS N’ ROSES.

Last to mention on Warner is the vinyl record reissue of the BETH HART album “37 days”.
I would have mentioned in the visual newsletter (that’s me acting the goat) how there was a really nice little piece written by RYAN ADAM’S on the back of the new live record where he says ( amongst a few other things) that no guests are allowed back stage before or after a solo show as he seems to try and totally detach himself from the situation of the gig….he wants to be chilled as if he was in his living room (or front room as we would say in Cork Ryan boooyyy)…..can understand that……after the show is probably cause he is just a bit odd….worth reading what he wrote…far more eloquent than what’s above….that was a rough synopsis.

Universal have the new record by JAMES TAYLOR “before this world”, his first body of work since 2002’s “October road” …it comes on CD and LP.
Local artist Eamon O Dwyer’s new album “that wrinkled shirt” is in store at the moment and has a lovely James Taylor flavour to it….LP due in soon.
Some vinyl record reissues also from Universal including RUSH and ELLIE GOULDING…first time for Ellie on Vinyl actually I would think.

MUSIC ON VINYL has a few nice ones coming up soon so they are next….
The brilliant yep brilliant TRICKY record “ maxinquaye” gets a reissue towards the end of JUNE, start of JULY….the first 1000 pressed are red vinyl ( I think red anyway they are some colour other than black….all vinyl records are transparent but they use carbon black to strengthen them….hence they are black but Vinyl is transparent……useless fact for ye all….don’t say I never told ye nothing…)

MOV also has a re issue of Mr. BOB DYLAN’s spiritual, holy, gospel album “ slow train coming” for the end of the month and lastly worth a mention from MUSIC ON VINYL is a SIMON & GARFUNKEL 6 LP complete collection set….120 bucks…..i am not joking here but my pals in the sky….you probably know the ones I am on about, I may have mentioned them before… know the ones….they want to sell you everything from baby monitors to lipstick for dogs……well I kid you not…. 133 sterling… or about 190 euro.

PIAS has a few nice reissues out for June 19th….especially we like the sound of THE DELGADOS “ great eastern” on vinyl record and also reissues from BLACK MOUNTAIN and CARNIFEX.

New from PIAS for the 26th June are records by CAYUCAS and also GILL LANDRY from OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW.

Sony has new albums for the 12th June from GIORGIO MORODER and EVERYTHING EVERYTHING as well as a metal record from DEW SCENTED.

CARGO for the 10th of July has the third SLEAFORD MODS record entitled “ key markets” , limited green monster coloured vinyl on the first run…….Mr. Williamson will not be mincing his words I would imagine.

On the local scene, people its time to get the finger out, JOHN BLEK AND THE RATS have just 12 days left to raise the cash to get their new album made….still just 47% of the bobs needed in….so BUY A COPY of the new album here and a) you will have years of listening pleasure b) you will be doing something worthwhile in your day/week/month c) you will support local artists d) you won’t have to listen to me if you do it…..–the-rats–borders

Lads and ladies, as for this thing

the standard of piss taking was downright appalling…..
I’d say this was about the best we got…
Well you’re no Scorsese that’s for sure 🙂
Anyway, Sin e for this week….
Thanks for listening,

Hey Everyone,

Hope all is good…

Quick update on the cards today, mainly for the 5th June….

Universal have THE ROLLING STONES “ sticky fingers” reissue for Friday the 5th of June across five different formats….deep breath….which are deluxe 2 CD, standard LP, Deluxe box 2 CD/DVD, super deluxe box 3CD/DVD/ 7” VINYL and lastly deluxe double LP.

Universal also has an orchestral version of the Who’s “quadrophenia” with Pete Townsend and Alfie Boe entitled “classic quadrophenia”.

June the 5th also sees the release of the second album from the Icelandic quintet OF MONSTERS AND MEN, truly difficult second album after a debut smash of over two million copies sold…….PS…double LP not till 24th June.

There is a 9 LP DELUXE box of the albums of Mr. JOHN LENNON on the 5th also and a SINATRA “ultimate collection “double LP.

The May referendum is done and dusted now, I had been tempted in previous weeks to have a spoke on it but felt enough opinions were being thrown at us (and everyone is entitled to their view, like it or not) but I think the boy Lennon above with his scouse pal hit the nail on the head…..there’s nothing you can do that cant be done….altogether now……

Sony has the RYAN ADAMS “live at Carnegie hall” LP and CD out on the 5th JUNE.

Warner has the new Muse album “ drones” for the 5th of June.

PIAS have a few to mention for the 12th of June.

HUDSON MOHAWKE, Scottish electronic artist and DJ releases his second album.

There is a reissue of the brilliant BILL WELLS/AIDAN MOFFAT vinyl record “everything’s getting older” ……, if these last ten or so words mean nothing to you then listen here

There is also a vinyl record reissue from ALEJANDRO JODOROWSKY’s cult classic acidic folk soundtrack “ el topo”..

Lastly from Pias for the 12th June are some Vinyl reissues from nuclear blast and some of THE FALL’S catalogue also including “the wonderful and frightening world of the fall” and “this nation’s saving grace”.

Some more belters for you coming out of ROM Towers this week, from the likes of The Pop Group/Sleaford Mods 7″ split single to Vol 2 of the excellent Too Slow To Disco, just add Sunshine; so welcome to this weeks’ smorgasbord of sound, tuck in.

A subject I have been meaning to mention for a while also is the auld Vinyl pricing.

A brief mention tonight so….

When the MUSIC ZONE Corporation started to get serious back into the Vinyl about 3 years back I was retailing a lot of strong back catalogue at 15 euro….case in point as an example is VAN MORRISON’S “ ASTRAL WEEKS” …..15 EURO two and a half maybe three years ago… 30 euro ( we have a similar % cut….in fact less on the 30 euro price point…nearly 4 euro profit at 15 price point….nearly 6 euro profit at 30…I feel I cant charge 33 quid for it)

Pricing is a grave danger for the industry in my opinion….if certain major record companies go down the greedy road/quick kill attitude, then the whole thing could well implode.

A physical retailer like me would argue that pricing on the CD format had a reasonable bearing on its downward spiral since the middle of the last decade.

We were retailing CDs in 2001 at 16.99 punts or 21.57 euro dual pricing at the time ( CRAZY) ….now we all know at the time the cost of running duplicates on big albums would have been minuscule, a few pennies, granted distribution costs are there and some marketing and administration costs involved.

The record companies chased huge profits with short sighted over pricing…….no wonder people flooded to Napster and whoever else after and it was going to be hard to get them back… or dislike the format.

I believe there would not have been such a cull of record shops if the pricing was more reasonable.

I just hope history wont repeat itself with the pricing on the Vinyl….astral weeks has had only two price increases to reach its 100% increase……the reasons for the increase on both occasions I have been told are “manufacturing costs”…….ah Christ don’t get me started …..Royalty costs is another one banded about….the record companies are greedy geits is one reason I never hear.

NUCLEAR BLAST have a blast ( pun pun) of vinyl reissues…….20 euro for a double LP and 13 euro for a single LP.

Last week WB (WARNER BROTHERS) through Warner had a reissue of the MASTODON “crack the skye” LP on coloured single LP for 40 euro retail…40 quid…single album…..44 quid on Amazon…….I’m sure the lads from Mastodon are demanding massive royalties from Warner for that one….they are in their liathroidi, they will take what they are given… if it aint royalties it must be manufacturing then so??

But how come nuclear blast can put a record on the shelf for 13 euro if those manufacturing costs are so high??

What’s left if it isn’t royalties or manufacturing?

Please don’t pull the piss out of it and us or

Record company man, I won’t be coming to dinner.

Anyway, off in to see THE HARD GROUND tomorrow night….few tickets left I think so

Sin e for this week,

Thanks for listening,

Hi Everyone,

How’s it going?

We are going to start this week’s blog with a little plea for help….one that will make you feel good, and which you can get rewarded for….both in the near future and in the afterlife…well not so sure about the latter!

Excellent local band and good friends of the shop JOHN BLEK AND THE RATS have a fund-it campaign to get their next record made.

They need to raise 6 grand to get it done; they are about 25% of the way there so if you want and can help out please please do….

John will play a few songs in your house wearing a fetching scarlet dressing gown for one of the rewards if that takes your fancy…….or leave you borrow it for a night if you prefer that… are the links to support…

We also have a counter box in the shop if you want to pop a euro or two into it… all helps…..

I was only banging on about fund-it’s a few weeks back saying that whatever needs to be done to get the record made needs to be done, and fund-its are one of those ways, giving bands a chance to get it made when otherwise it may not.

Bobs are tight I know and 6 k is a lot of money but spread across 300 people then it isn’t too bad and I feel that it is so important that these talented local acts keeping plying their trade.

The record companies are like banks……they want zero risk….they will only bite when they are guaranteed a return……they are purely a business now anyway….so fund-its and projects like it are the only real option for talented up and coming artists.

On to the releases for mainly the 29th of May, quite a few to mention again this week, the biggest one through Universal is the third record by FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE entitled “how big, how blue, how beautiful”….huge things expected of this album….singles grew on me a bit after initially not being too keen.

The MUSIC ZONE Corporation is running a little competition over the next week to give away a copy of the Vinyl record and a copy of the deluxe CD….the competition is on face book and twitter ( cos we are looking for followers and all that shite) but if you are not a fan of the social media we don’t want you to feel left out…so just pop us a mail with the name FLORENCE as the subject and you’ll be in also….normally only about 25 names go into the hat if that incentivizes you!!

The record retails at 25 euro with us and 32 euro with the man who sold the world after getting the world for free from local governments…….i had decided to lay back but could not resist….its the Greenmount boy in me!!

UNIVERSAL also has new records by SLAVES ( bit of a buzz about these punk rocking Londoners) and MELODY GARDOT, as well as the vinyl record releases from two icons, BRIAN WILSON and RINGO STARR, of their most recent albums.

Other releases from UNIVERSAL for the 29th May include new records from PARADISE LOST, BABYMETAL, a live album from TARJA and I see from the attachment the RIPTIDE MOVEMENT is getting a release in the UK…….could it do anything over there?…..not unless it gets a bit of radio support.

Lastly but certainly not least from UNIVERSAL is the new EP from THE STRYPES…..album out in July…I have banged on about these boys in the past ( who hasn’t) and I believe greatness could be in the pipeline….I LOVE THIS SONG….i love their persona/attitude in the video…were fffinng rock stars!!….i love the shared vocals…Josh’s vocals although tentative have a lovely tone…..they are tight as **** musically……great tune……album number two…the famed difficult one….greatness awaits buachailli.

PIAS for June 5th have the new record from PINS….well worth a listen

There are also new ones from PRINZHORN DANCE SCHOOL, FFS. this is a combo of FRANZ FERDINAND and SPARKS, also a new EP from SHARON VAN ETTEN.

BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB has a triple LP/ DVD live from Paris release which is supposed to be excellent.

LEFTFIELD have a new album. Yes, that’s what’s written, LEFTFIELD have a new album….i went through a big phase of leftism for quite a while back in the day….must play it again.

WARNER has a massive release also for June 5th with the new MUSE album called “drones”…..good band, fantastic live.

WARNER has some nice vinyl re issues for May 29 including the hugely commercially successful “fisherman’s blues” from THE WATERBOYS and THE GRATEFUL DEAD “VERY BEST OF” on double LP.

There are new albums from DAWES and SIMPLY RED and some live albums from LYNYRD SKYNYRD and JEFF BECK…..see attachment for more details….these are out on the 29th May.

MUSIC ON VINYL for the middle of June have DAVID BOWIES “HOURS” ….first timer on Vinyl….was to be on 3 colours but only black left im afraid….a lot of you or some of you will remember this was the first album in its entirety to be sold on tinternet ….another reason those Bowie fans have to say he was ahead of his time!!

PROPER has the new DARKNESS record and a debut solo album from KATE PIERSON from B- 52 fame.

CARGO has a new OST from CLIFF MARTINEZ entitled far cry 4.

The Music Zone newsletter may not be delivered next week as Thursday night is my night penciled in for it but next Thursday night the Corporation is heading in to THE HARD GROUND album launch/gig in the Olivier Plunkett for some great tunes and deserved creamy pints….apologies in advance….might get something tiny out weds night but don’t know for sure.

Check out the website….what’s your favourite album of all time……

Sin e for this week,

Thanks for listening,

Music Zone Header Logo_edited-1 (3)

Hey everyone,

Hope all is well…..

Quite a bit to mention tonight also and with a self imposed curfew of 1.30am I will cut to the chase and try and avoid rambling tangents where possible (but can’t promise).

The first born (Cormac, whom a lot of you will know from the shop) is home for a break from his year’s holiday; sorry I meant studies, in Italy so my curfew must be obeyed as no spilling into Friday night will be allowed by the newsletter police….

First up is a big Vinyl record reissue for the 22nd May through Universal.

Originally released in 2000 and one that has been off the Vinyl grid for quite some time is RYAN ADAM’s debut record “heartbreaker”.

You could ask me to write down my 10 favorite albums every week and I might have 3 or 4 constants and 30 or 40 albums that will dip in and out depending on my mood…this album would dip in and out for me….a truly great album in my opinion.

Some might argue it never improved from there, but hard to top some more might argue…..some people might think it is not his best album….each to their own…that is one of the great unseen unexplainable qualities of music….different albums resonate differently with different people, be it from personal experiences, friends, age, perceived taste or worst of all coolness ….my opinion is as worthless as anyone’s opinion, it is what it means to you, no one else…..i have heard two different guys ( who know their music) in the shop one day give me their opinions on the Supertramp record “ crimes of the century” …..One saying “Christ Ray, you will do well to shift that, its dreadful” to the other “whoa Ray, see this here, this is my favorite record of all time” ….i kid you not, two guys who love music in the same day had those two varying opinions….brilliant!!

We at the Music Zone Corporation are retailing the RYAN ADAMS double LP at 25 euro, whilst my faceless robotic foe in the sky are selling it for 32 euro (that shower sold more records in America last year than anyone else, that, you might have guessed, makes me feel ill……I shall continue my one man crusade against them and their attempts to rule the retail world whilst helping to turn us into a robotic nanny world…..did anyone see the documentary on them about a year ago on BBC….man they don’t half treat people like shite….employees have 30 seconds to find each product in the warehouses, if they fail, the hand gun scanner beeps loudly and incessantly until they find the item…..the undercover lad who went in said his head was ringing all through the night after his first day….anyway enough said, I’m sure ye can feel my love for them and the nappies, lawnmowers, pencils, bikes, watches they sell.

Look, lastly, I know convenience is massive in today’s world (another issue for some other time) but just don’t always think because they are bigger they are also cheaper….that is my basic point……..for all small business.

Universal has the new album by ASH out next Friday also….it is called “kablammo!” ….Tim Wheeler’s recentish album is a really terrific listen, it is a cycle of songs based around his father and families battle with dementia…..heartbreaking and powerful stuff, as powerful as you will get at times….i imagine ( and that’s all I can do) anyone whose family may be affected by this illness, this album would seriously touch a nerve but yet help a bit also….MEDICINE is one of the most lyrically powerful songs I have heard in quite a while….if you have 10 minutes over the weekend its below and its worth it, very sad but written from his dad’s perspective and brilliantly written in my opinion…serious respect Mr. Wheeler…

UNI also have ROD STEWART LP reissues including “ every picture tells a story” , STYX LP reissues including “ paradise theatre” , blue note LP reissues including ART BLAKEY and LEE MORGAN as well as new albums from POKEY LAFARGE, WILL YOUNG, LEPROUS and ALESSO in no particular genre’s!!

PIAS have a load of good releases for the 29th of May.

The first three BLACK SABBATH records are getting the reissue treatment….again…180 gram with CD included of self titled, paranoid and masters of reality albums.

The biggest new material release is from JAMIE XX of THE XX fame….i really like THE XX stuff so looking forward to this one….friends help him out along the way….sounds alright to me

ALGIERS is another one worth a listen I think….new and fresh sounding…political opinions

new albums also from KIDWAVE, GIRLPOOL, HELLOWEEN as well as the debut from the lass from Derry, SOAK, who is a talented girl….she is playing the Triskel on the 13th June I think….i would have harped on about her in the past….listen below

Lastly from PIAS for the 29th May is the new SUN KIL MOON CD….no sign of LP on that one yet….if someone/anyone can inform me??? Bueller, bueller…those only of a certain age will only find that one remotely humorous….

Sony has most but not the entire FOO FIGHTERS catalogue LPs reissued….all except wasted light and echos ( I think)..out next Friday…..some of them tricky to get over recent years…

Sony also has the new VACCINES record next Friday.

WARNER has a few Vinyl record reissues worth a mention including a couple by A-HA, ELECTRONICA as well as MILES DAVIS “ TUTU” 30TH anniversary deluxe double LP.

Lastly, there is a DVD release from Eagle Vision on “the lost songs: the basement tapes”.

I did not get some of the usual info in because of the curfew by the newsletter police (they are based in my head *nee-naw) but here are the main points…..if anyone needs more info please shout….

ESSENTIAL for the 29th have a release from THE WILLIS CLAN.

CARGO for June 15 has the new record from cosmic lo-fi quartet IT HUGS BACK.

REPUBLIC OF MUSIC releases include the debut from THE MIGHTY STEF “year of the horse” who have been supporting those Cavan boys recently.

Three or four guys have been raving about this debut record from 53 year old DAVID CORLEY whom I emailed some months back to source his CD for someone….he was genuinely thrilled we over here in Ireland were looking for it….he came across real well to me to be fair….just spreading the word on the street….DAVID CORLEY…your bag or not…..

On the local scene,

We are delighted to announce we just received today some copies of THE ESKIES debut CD “after the sherry went round” and it really is a foot stomping listen….pirate folk rock at its very best….i made that genre up I think!! Sounds great though…playing it all afternoon….sneak listen here…on sale when we open at 10 in the morning.

Brilliant dance off in the video….

Sin e for this week I think,

Check out, give out, and buy out the website…

Thanks for listening!

Ps…..mainly delayed tonight because I keep listening to a sampler of the new songs from THE SHAKER HYMN….all I can say is there is a treat in store for everyone….corks best kept secret….sin e.

Hi Everyone,

How’s it going….

This week is one of those weeks when a load of stuff deserves a mention in my opinion… has been one of those weeks………broken cars, broken fridges but no broken bones… MASSIVE ATTACK told us all “ just be thankful for what you got”…..anyway move on Raymond before you have a ….

Warner has PAUL WELLER’s debut release on Parlophone for next Friday May 15.

“Saturn’s pattern” is available across four formats if memory serves me correct, CD, CD/DVD, VINYL ( COLOURED), super douper boxy thingy which includes the aforementioned plus a poster and booklet….

The Modfather “thinks it’s one of the best things I’ve done. I can’t compare it to any of my other albums. I think it’s different – not just for me, but different for what else is around. It’s defiantly 21st-Century music.” – Uncut (January 2015)

He is hardly going to say its shite…high opinions…deservedly??….or is the modfather bit gone to the ceann…..sorry I am bit barb wiry!…’s a sample

Warner has some EV classic live DVD’s released for the 15th also which include PETER GABRIEL, ALICE COOPER, B.B KING, SLAYER and THE SHADOWS.

There is a new VALKYRIE LP out through Warner also on the 15th plus some nice LP reissues from RHINO including THE WATERBOYS “ this is the sea”, VELVET UNDERGROUND “ loaded” , THE YARDBIRDS “ little games”, MORCHEEBA “ big calm” and STEVIE NICKS “ very best of “ on double Vinyl record.

Lastly from Warner is the new TWENTY ONE PILOTS album.

UNIVERSAL has the new BRANDON FLOWERS record ( LP for release in June) “ the desired effect”.

UNIVERSAL also have some great classic soundtracks reissued on 180 gram Vinyl record through the back on black label including ET, JAWS, THE GODFATHER, THE BIG LEBOWSKI and THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY.

Some CREAM and BEACH BOYS LPs reissued also plus the ST VINCENT vinyl record gets another reissue.

Universal have even more Vinyl reissues from JOHN COLTRANE “black pearls “ and Vinyl box sets from MARVIN GAYE ( his first seven records) and the SOUNDGARDEN Box Set of rarities, bsides etc gets the Vinyl treatment….CDs were last year…..its nearly all Vinyl with UNIVERSAL this week, noticeably so even from 12 months ago.

SONY has another MARIAH CAREY best of and a new record from ENTRAILS.

The new LEONARD COHEN release: I may have been a bit harsh last week….id say its quite interesting…..probably be apologizing to the modman next week….although I don’t know.

PROPER MUSIC has the latest release by NICK CAVE and WARREN ELLIS out next Friday the 15th also, which is the soundtrack to the movie “ loin des homes” available on LP and CD.

I stumbled across something out through Proper for next Friday also which caught my ear and attention also….so let me introduce SHILAPA RAY, ( no relation) what do you think……a tad rude maybe so if easily offended do not watch….which of course means everyone will watch

Also from PROPER next week is the third FIGHT LIKE APES CD, which was made thanks mainly to a FUNDIT campaign…….i landed in a slight spat recently on that twitter thingy ( and spatting ain’t my thing) with a well known national disc jockey over the FUNDIT thing……some background first….

FUNDIT is where bands/artists take pledges and donations from fans or anyone really to help with the costs of making a record….10 to 20 k ballpark I believe…so the great MOZ tweeted something along the lines of him never doing a fundit album as it would be humiliating and degrading ( something like that anyway) and it got a few thousand retweets…..i saw it and tweeted…..easy for Moz to say……our DJ ( no need to hang him, I’m ok) got a bit catty and bounced back with a reply along the lines of it doesn’t matter a damn who said it….be it the milkman or my mam, it is what is being said….i had to go back again, like a moth to a flame, and nicely suggest that MOZ’s bank balance is rather healthy I would imagine and for young bands trying to make it today “ whatever it takes to get it done” so to cut a long story short, fair fucks to FIGHT LIKE APES for getting it done as I wonder to myself , could life ever be sane again with this twitter thing.

PIAS have the new one from UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA on JAGJAGUWAR entitled “ multi- love”….have a sample listen here below…..also a new album from SUMMER CAMP..

MUSIC ON VINYL have reissues from BARENAKED LADIES, GENE CLARK with the Gosdin bros and STATIC X “ Wisconsin death trap”.

ESSENTIAL have the fourth record by GAVIN GLASS, see attachment as well as the LP release of the new FALL album.

The Music Zone corporation is 14 years old today….the 8th day of May 2001 was the first day……the day is engrained in my brain….mainly because I was shitting myself…excuse the language…and at about 11 am a woman handed me a Bridget Jones CD (was big at the time, ELVIS COSTELLO’S “she” striking a cord) and I was like you want to buy that…from me??….anyway, small businesses are like a small child, you try nurture it along, try to do things the right way, hopefully watching it grow, and when its sick you feel sick also, with worry……anyway still at it….all good.

Sin e for this week,

Check the site for the usual…

Thanks for listening,

Hey Everyone,

How’s it going?

Not exactly a mad week for releases this week, it is quite enough really but still a few nice bits.

Warner has a few bits without anything major happening including the latest MusiCares DVD and Bluray release featuring Mr. Paul McCartney.

The tribute concert was over 3 years ago but only seeing release now and a lot of interesting people on it so should be a good one.

I don’t think I ever said a bad word about Macca until very recently when I saw him perform, sorry I should have said stand on stage with Rihanna and Canine West during the Grammys for a performance of the song “ four five seconds”.

Macca is credited with writing the song along with only 8 others….why bother Paul… be hip?… wrote “yesterday”, “blackbird” and “let it be”….that’s hip enough.

There is a new 7 “single from Noel Gallagher “river man” (fine track again) and Paul Weller’s first single from his new album, single on a 7 again called “Saturn’s pattern”.

I saw Paul Weller support THE STONE ROSES down da Pairc a good few years ago for Feile.

There was a great bunch of hardcore fans of the Modfather up the very front that night and in the few seconds gap between every song there was a chorus of WELLEEERRR, WELLEEERRR, WELLEEERRR in really strong Cork accents… probably had to be there…!!

Warner has a new CLAPTON compilation thingy, 3 and 2 CD formats for now, LP to follow later and there is also a SAXON movie on DVD and BLURAY out on the 8th of May.

Lastly from Warner on the 8th of May is the second album together from EMMYLOU HARRIS and RODNEY CROWELL called “the traveling kind” on Nonesuch, again the LP version is coming at a later date and again the way their vocals and harmonies intertwine is unreal.

I have been watching the COBAIN documentary over the last couple of nights…its quite long….nearly 2 and half hours I think.

I am not finished it yet…about 30 minutes left…but it is an interesting watch…very visual, very informative, and very hard to watch at times. Home videos with himself and Courtney smashed off their heads especially hard to watch.

I didn’t realize what an active and artistic mind he had, even from a very young age.

Some of the drawings he did when he was as young as three are simply astonishing for his age…astonishing….if my youngest boy Zach (3) drew a picture as well as Kurt did at three years of age, I would be absolutely astounded and probably retire to a far away island, thinking my boy is a genius!!

His parents did not give me a good bang at all in the documentary.

It’s reported that the Kurt Cobain estate is worth 450 million dollars, i imagine that the main protagonists in the documentary are the main beneficiaries of that estate i.e Courtney, Frances Bean and MOMS and POPS….interestingly Dave Grohl has not said a word in two hours whereas there were numerous pieces with Krist Novoselic…..if anyone has the low down on this, pop it up on the forum please for me….these views are mine obviously but that sure don’t mean they are right….does Grohl think the COBAIN’S are a bunch of money grabbing assholes??

PIAS for the 15th MAY have the new album by FAITH NO MORE…..little break since the last record….18 years I think.

There are also new records from HOT CHIP “ why make sense”, CEREMONY and the HELIO SEQUENCE.

Lastly on 4AD through PIAS is the debut album by HOLLY HERNDON entitled “platform” really experimental electronica if that sort of thing floats your boat.

SONY have a new SNOOP CD “bush” and a new LEONARD COHEN release “can’t forget: a souvenir of the grand tour” on CD and Vinyl record.

When I first saw the Cohen release I thought it was another live album….again….and I thought they’re taking the piss…..but it’s a record of rare enough tracks from rehearsals and sound checks from the last tour…..still taking the piss??…..I’m going to wait to hear it first.

Universal has a new album by NATHAN CARTER for the 8th of May, the debut album by TOVE LO and the JOHNNY CASH AMERICAN RECORDINGS 7 LP BOXSET….only 140 yo yos folks….only 100 ordered….only 165 euro with my big buddy in the sky…in case you thought I was giving them a break….not today punk…hope the nappies are selling well for ya…

PROPER has the new DECLAN SINNOTT album for the 8th of May called “windows in the world”.

Declan’s last album was a really nice listen, and this one is supposed to be as good if not better.

Proper also have a new Keith Jarrett album next week.

MUSIC ON VINYL has reissues from EUROPE and B.B KING.

On the local scene, the Music Zone Corporation has gone global, viral, sick or whatever cool words Macca is using these days.

Check us all out here….like, share, comment please… or dislike if that floats your boat……

Appearance money will be going out with the kid’s Santa letters when things settle down so don’t forget to keep asking your postman did your letter from Lappland arrive.

Check out the site for new bits or have a rant on the forum or buy a few bits!!

Sin e for this week I think,

Hi Everyone,

Hope all is good…

Well, Record Shop Day is done and dusted for another year and I have a few things to say (when don’t i).

This could be a bit like an Oscar’s acceptance speech….tears and all!!

Those of you reading these ramblings for a while now will know I would have done a bit of moaning (when don’t i) about RSD in the past.

I would have moaned about the langers going on eBay…enterprising they think….dirty touts I think.

I wrongly or rightly quizzed a few strangers early doors last Saturday….good homes for the records is what we want not some ballbag making a quick buck.

I would have moaned about the record companies being the only winner…..still the case….they don’t lose….little 25% Sale or Return or Exchange facility with the companies would be a nice touch.

RSD was set up initially to find a way to help and support independent record shops……..and man that is what happened in our shop last Saturday.

There was just a lovely buzz in the shop from pre shutter opening to post shutter closing….made special by so many of ye loyal folks who visited us on the day.

It was quite humbling the support the shop got….sincere thank you again to all who genuinely made an effort to come in and support us…..sincere thanks.

Aside from the sales ( which were great, don’t get me wrong…two bad weeks business or a week and a half good weeks, in a day) there was just a lovely ambience in the shop all day.

So aside from ye guys…there was another group of people who made the day really special, and that was the musicians.

These guys are legends….coming in to play a few tunes to support the shop…..tough slog, a labour of love for them at times I would think.

So a big massive thank you once again to JOHN BLEK, who was his usual brilliant self, THE SHAKER HYMN who oozed class and found themselves a few new fans while oozing that class…top talented lads, JOHN SPILLANE, who had the crowd wrapped around his finger….the chorus of ORO SE DO BHEATHA ABHAILE being sung by everyone in the shop will live long in the memory, RAISING JUPITER, who as there name suggests raised the roof off the gaff ,to one passing woman’s great annoyance about the noise, as she took a bite out of Shane at the counter over the noise!!

Shane took one for the team there!!!!

Myself and Bobby were busy at the time…..hiding!

(I was doing the meet and greet Ray!)

FOX JAW from Limerick were great…really good sound, tight….we were very impressed…..hard working….done three RSD in stores…fair play to em.

Lastly, we had THE HARD GROUND who got the graveyard shift….probably not starting till about 6….there was only about 8 people saw them but man those 8 got a treat…it was beautiful….perfect end to a perfect day.

THE HARD GROUND are very close to being play listed on Today FM… an aul text in to request new single “ pucker” would not go a miss if you find 15 seconds….think of it as your good deed for tomorrow!!….that’s if you like it (were not x factor here) text 53102 and request it….have another listen, it grows

Lastly, I want to thank Bobby, Shane and Ciaran for their help and work all week….#onlyforye

So once again a big thank you to all those who sang for us and sang with us, drank with us, and couldn’t drink with us, shouted at us or shouted for us and supported us all day….we are blessed….

I shall drive on with what is happening for tomorrow week the 1st of May.

Massive release, most preordered this year is the third MUMFORD AND SONS record “wilder man” through Island/Universal.

The banjo’s are ditched for the electric…..not causing as big a stir as Mr. Zimmermann did……top five selling albums of the year??….i liked their first two records anyway.

Universal also has a nice ANNIE LENNOX DVD and the BLONDIE catalogue reissued on Vinyl Record including “parallel lines” and “eat to the beat”.

PIAS has the new record by ROISIN MURPHY which has being well received by press…..leftfield and non conformist….a young female Scott Walker….sorry left out the better looking bit….sorryScott..

Another class release from Pias for the 8th of May is the new record by THE TALLEST MAN ON EARTH on Dead Oceans

Sony has a few metal releases on Metalblade from SIX FEET UNDER and SATANS WRATH.

Warner has a new record from DJANGO DJANGO , VINYL RECORD reissues from DISTURBED “ indestructible” and “ the sickness” and JETHRO TULL’s “ minstrel in the gallery” gets the reissue treatment as well as red vinyl 10” reissue of Roxette’s “ it must have being love”.

MUSIC ON VINYL has some nice re issues coming up….for the 11th of May they have a J.J CALE 4 LP collection spanning 49 tracks, CAPTAIN BEEFHEART’s “blue jeans and moonbeams” and the Grammy winning LP from TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND “ REVELATOR”.

MUSIC ON VINYL for the 18th of May have the million selling “Graceland “ by Mr. PAUL SIMON, MINISTRY “ dark side of the spoon” , MICK RONSON ‘S “ heaven and hull” and YES “talk” .

ESSENTIAL have a new FALL album….i don’t know if Mr. Smith could tell you how many albums he has….is it over 30 studio albums….something like that anyway….i would bet my signed RSD turntable he couldn’t name all the albums ………I have an unsigned RSD turntable…..signature can be arranged.

Local band THE SHED are launching there third record “stealing away” in the Crane Lane tomorrow night …..Doors at 8.

THE SHED are supported by local Douglas young fellas SKRUJAX who have an EP out…..raw but promising….check out the first track here….early JOY DIVISION??…..i think it’s a great track…

Check out the aul website for bits coming and hopefully going…

Sin e for this week I think,

Thanks for listening,
