CD copy of John Neville’s – Sun Valley Drive. 2022.
Sun Valley Drive is the second studio album from John Neville.
It contains 10 tracks, all written by John, and contains various genre styles that have influenced him musically from his teenage years to the present day. It has been produced by his long time friend Martin Leahy.
The songs touch on a wide variety of subjects and emotions, with one whimsical springtime story describing an Old Honey Bee’s unrequited love for a flower.
Another delves into the history of life on a small farm in West Connemara in the late 1950s as a horse was put out to pasture to make way for modern machinery. The 1957 Massey Ferguson 35 operated on the small land holding as the Old Red Mare watched from the fields. It still operates to this day.
Palomino Cowboy tells the story of a silver-badged peacekeeper and the notorious desperadoes he faced with his sidekick.
The title track, Sun Valley Drive, describes the part of the city where John grew up and the local council’s plan to change the street names in the poorer areas to make residents feel better about where they lived.
Old Honey Bee was playlisted by RTÉ Radio 1 when the single was released and is already a favourite with audiences.
Sun Valley Drive is an album that is packed with real stories about life, told with beautiful musicality and John’s signature song writing style.
