The album marks a departure from the sound of Biffy’s first three records, with Puzzle marking the band’s first major label release under Warner. The album begins to explore the more pop driven, epic sound that would dominate the band’s next three records, or second phase of the band. While the album was kept from the #1 spot in the UK Charts by Rihanna, it was the band’s first #1 in their home country, and brought the band huge international acclaim, with singles such as ‘Living Is A Problem’, ‘Saturday Superhouse’, and ‘Who’s Got A Match’ becoming staples in the band’s setlist.
