So releases then for the 17th of October include…

Cracking tune here from the album, i do like Kevins sound

Tame Impala – Dracula (Official Video)

There is a bit of hassle with the SYLVIAN LP reissues due this week ….so we were allocated 5 copies of each….i looked for more but was “ guaranteed” 5 each….we went and sold the 20 records….invoice comes in yesterday morning with 2 or 3  copies only of each reissue coming in….not the 5 each promised….

Reps response here “ hi bud

we are waiting on more stock.

should be with us in a couple of weeks”….that rep is sound btw

So look first two names for each and im hoping the rest of ye will wait the few weeks….sorry!!

Frustrating from our end when promised X and get B….but the lad is trying to manage stock across 200 shops….nightmare id say…Sorry again

Wonderful Cork rockers HOPE IS NOISE have a new single and video out from their forthcoming album…here is the tune…enjoy

Why have you got that face? – Hope is Noise

Going to hand ye over to Shane now as he takes ye down the road as always….any jokes or anything Shane as i feel as if all we are doing is trying to hawk records…not a whole pile of craic from me with this newsletter….i suppose a load coming at us this weather….8 weeks of it …8 weeks of solid hawking ahead folks

Anyways over to you Shane!

Haha, sound, Ray, I know! Basically you know in those tornado storms that they get in the US when it hailstorms sliotar sized chunks of ice? We feel a bit like someone in that with a camán trying to defend ourselves. White Christmas from Hell!
Ah look, we all love the siopa and ye folk, but the hawking is intense. I think most of ye enjoy the newsletter so we’ll keep at it.

Really like the new Hope is Noise track/video above!

One that jumped out at me this week is PRINCE & THE REVOLUTION – Purple Rain – Limited One-Step Vinyl Pressing. This is a high quality pressing of the album, a bit like the Mobile Fidelity ones. Numbered and with different packaging/cover. One for the audiophiles.
A classic album, of course. Prince was a genius. Was lucky enough to see him in Malahide Castle a few years before he died.
Here’s a bit more info about the pressing. Interesting. Pricey but maybe worth it if you have a high end system:
“One-Step vinyl is the ultimate vinyl pressing. Because Sound Matters’ meticulous One-Step process creates the definitive-sounding audiophile version of the all-time classic album, Prince’s Purple Rain. 192kHz/24bit files transferred from the original EQ’d analog master tapes have been used to ensure Purple Rain has never sounded better!

This initial pressing of this One-Step version is limited to 6,000 copies. The album is housed inside a top-quality, uniquely designed numbered slipcase. The enclosed LP will feature an “Old Style” single pocket gatefold tip-on jacket with original artwork, including the original inner sleeve and poster.

Special care has been taken to faithfully preserve the original sound with exceptional clarity and depth, capturing the recording’s nuances and subtleties at every step, in order to create the best sounding, record possible.

The One-Step process is highly regarded among audiophiles and collectors for its unparalleled sound fidelity and represents the pinnacle of vinyl manufacturing craftsmanship.

Having sold over 25 million copies, Purple Rain isn’t only one of the best-selling records of all time, it is considered a creative masterpiece. A classic for all time!

In 2010, Purple Rain was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. In 2012, the album was added to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry list of sound recordings that “are culturally, historically, or aesthetically important.” In 2019, the film was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.”

Purple Rain was recorded, mixed and mastered on analog tape including a couple live performances captured at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Only a ¼” EQ’d analog master tape was ever delivered to Warner Bros. by Prince – clearly a sign that was the source he ALWAYS wanted to be used in manufacturing. After 40 years, Because Sound Matters did not want to run the risk of additional wear and tear on this iconic tape as several playbacks would be necessary in the One-Step process – so, they used an original 192kHz/24bit file transfer, as opposed to a more recent 96kHz/24bit update.

They listened and analyzed many different vinyl LP pressings. Most of those sounded very good, but what they accomplished was being able to surpass the sound of original 45rpm 12″ pressings of the singles. Not an easy task considering the length of sides on Purple Rain and, in the process, created the best sounding version of this iconic record ever.

I’m going to list out the rest for ye. The OASIS Live one is definitely another stand-out, and I’m biased but THE OFFSPRING – Conspiracy of One: 25th Anniversary is another good one.

One to mention here folks…Jamie Duffy

For fans of Olafur Arnalds and Ludovico Einaudi (and all things modern classical), there is the fantastic self-titled album from the Monaghan native artist and composer Jamie Duffy released on the 10th of October via Irish record label Rubyworks.

Jamie has been played on Late Date fairly regularly over the last 6 or 9 months, and i really like what i heard ( although half asleep…Late Date my going to sleep music the last 6 or 9 months) so i was aware of him but I have listened to this album in full twice during the week, it is beautiful…a real talent and he is from these shores also which will always peak my own interest …here is a tune from it…CD and Vinyl available on the 10th October

Jamie Duffy – Solas (Official Video)

Some of ye must be thinking “is Ray making up these competitions he do be running or what….he do be all on about them and then we never hear who wins”

Well … .there were 29 people in for the Big Thief signed test pressing and I asked Mia in the shop one day for a number between 1 and 29 and she chose 17 … .17 was John O Connor so John won the big thief prize.

As for the Michael D signed test press, that went to a lad, Martin Costello … .buys a bit online from us … .we did a video of authenticity for that ( not like all ireland hurling final ticket draws!

Adam done a video so we will share it here once it’s up.

We have a nice instore on Saturday the 4th of Oct when we welcome Laura Elizabeth Hughes to the shop as she launches her album “ knots and echoes” with us.

Laura will perform songs from the record and hopefully sign some copies for folks after the performance…it is at @ 2 pm on Saturday the 4th of Oct.

Here is a lovely song from the album

Going to hand ye over to Shane now as he takes ye down the road etc…

Sound, Ray.
Hello everyone hope yere well!
Noelle and I went to a great movie yesterday, Christy. Shot in and around Cork city.
Dark and sad at times but a brilliant watch. Well worth checking out.

I won’t dawdle cos there’s been loads of stuff. Too much stuff in my opinion. But I’ll stop moaning.

Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy, Neil Young and Irish hip-hop group BRICKNASTY are the stand outs this week, I reckon. Oh and Prince.
Anyway, here’s the list. Click into the links if interested and want to know more.

Back to you so, Ray. Slán.

Thanks Shane!

Sin e for this week
Thanks for listening.
Ray, Shane, Adam and Mia.

September 17th: NEWDAD this Saturday! PINK FLOYD 50th Anniversary Box Set, DYLAN Bootleg set, MAYKAY debut LP and in-store, CARDINALS debut + GORILLAZ for next year.

How d folks

Hope all is well.

Firstly, our thoughts are with Adam and his family since Adam lost his grandfather at the weekend. They laid him to rest yesterday. Adam spoke beautifully at the mass. He was a huge figure in Adam’s life and will be an awful loss, he had a big part in raising a wonderful, kind, smart, honest grandson,

I think John would be very proud of him.

Rest in Peace John.

Other releases then for the 19th sept include

Another instore to announce and delighted to be announcing it is the debut solo album launch from May Kay.

“On 10 October, MayKay will release her first solo album on GrainStore Records. Known for her

fearless energy as the frontwoman of Fight Like Apes and for a string of collaborations across

the Irish music scene, she’s now taken a step she never thought she would.

“After years of great bands and deadly collaborations, I’ve finally done the solo thing,

” she says. The album has, as she puts it, been “a long time coming, and follows the release of

‘Busted’  is a song that tackles the way older men influence younger men. It’s a collection that

reflects two decades of making music, but still manages to feel like a surprise, even to its creator”

Here is the song

MAYKAY – BUSTED (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO)

So MayKay will be with us on Weds the 15th of october @ 5 pm….ill remind ye!!
Looking forward to it

I see the  Debut album by Cork’s own  CARDINALS was announced in the last few days … .super band….album not out till next Feb…exciting one!

Here’s a bit more info…and a song at the end.

“Cork’s acclaimed Cardinals announce their much-anticipated debut album ‘Masquerade’. Set to land February 13th on tastemaker label So Young Records, the ten song album was recorded with producer Shrink at RAK Studios, London across the summer. It’s a record that is at once grand and intimate, awash with romance and flickers of holy imagery, and most of all, it’s an undeniable fulfilment of the innate promise the band have shown since their earliest beginnings.

These are emotionally expansive songs, some simmering with an undercurrent of violence, cynicism or fervent discontent (Anhedonia, The Burning of Cork, Barbed Wire) and others gleaming with a bright-eyed vulnerability. A vivid first half contrasts a darker second and crafts a record with a clear A-side and B-side. A nod to the band’s collective love of vinyl, that tonal shift takes its cue from a variety of expected and unexpected influences – from the brittle honesty of folk to the theatrical melodrama of goth-rock. “

Here is the latest tune…released yesterday…excellent it is

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dIWVkmaiuY&list=RD4dIWVkmaiuY&start_radio=1

The lads are Kinsale direction i think originally

Releases then for the 26th of Sept include

I was at two special gigs over the past week … .the Remembering Talos show in the Operahouse was unforgettable really, beautifully done from start to finish,  tasteful and poignant, brilliantly done to all involved. Twas beautiful, the love in the room was so palpable.

RIP Eoin…what a talent

Talos – Crows | Mahogany Session

And I was at Black Country New Road on Sunday night in Cypress, they seriously impressed me, wonderful musicians and wonderful harmonies and vocals, blew me away a bit to be honest….they had me before they took the stage tbh….lights went low and Microdisney’s “ birthday girl” blasts out from the sound system, and the 6 piece enter the stage belting out the song…twas a classy entrance

Salem Sisters

Main week for this week is releases for Friday 3rd Oct…shout if interested in anything

Going to hand ye over to Shane as he takes ye down the road … .quite a few big announcements in the past week really … .trying to write this and run the shop is a little tricky…but I think i said everything i wanted to say!!

Anywoo over to you kid…

Sound, Ray. Hi all, hope ye’re well!

Just want to echo Ray’s words regarding Adam’s Grandad, John. Rest in peace.
Never easy to lose someone so close. We’re all here for you Adam bud.

First to mention today from me is one of Adam’s favourites, BOB DYLAN, and the next installment of the Bootleg Series, Vol. 18, ‘Through the Open Window’. It will be released on Halloween as a 2 CD, 4 LP or an 8 CD Box Set.
Here’s some more info about it:

This next volume in the award-winning Bootleg Series tells the story of Dylan’s emergence and maturation as a songwriter and performer, from Minnesota to the Greenwich Village bohemia in the early 1960s. It includes rare Columbia Records outtakes, recordings made at club dates, in tiny informal gatherings, in friends’ apartments, and at jam sessions in long-gone musicians’ hangouts.
The 8CD Deluxe set features 139 tracks – 48 never-before released performances, as well as 38 super-rare cuts plus a hardcover book with extensive liner notes by Sean Wilentz and over 100 rare photographs. The last two discs of the set consist of the unreleased complete recording of Dylan’s 1963 landmark show at Carnegie Hall, mixed from original tapes.”

Watched the HBO Jason Isbell documentary last weekend. Great watch. Cool to see him in the studio.
He came across as a difficult person to work with, at least from his wife, Amanda Shires’ perspective.
Tough on the little girl how it ended up between them.

Second to mention today and coming out on December 12th, PINK FLOYD – Wish You Were Here: 50th Anniversary! Class album. One of their best. Twill be on coloured LP, 2 CD, 3 LP, Deluxe Box Set and Blu Ray.
Here’s a bit about it:

“Featuring “Shine On You Crazy Diamond“, the hypnotic “Welcome To The Machine“, the scathing “Have a Cigar“, and the essential title track, Wish You Were Here is undoubtedly one of the most important album releases in the history of popular music.

The record’s themes of absence, isolation, transience, and comment on the insincerity of the music business are embodied in the iconic album artwork. 50 years since its release, Wish You Were Here sounds as resonant and vital as ever. This special anniversary edition allows fans, for the first time, to delve deeper into a pivotal moment in Pink Floyd’s history.

Wish You Were Here 50 gives fans an exciting new perspective into one of Pink Floyd’s most iconic and best-loved records. The 50th anniversary edition features the original album plus two discs of studio rarities including previously unreleased alternate versions and demos presenting Pink Floyd’s eighth studio album in a brand new way that demands repeat listening.”

Also coming soonish, THE BEATLES – Anthology 4 on 2 CD or 3 LP (November) and a brand new GORILLAZ album, ‘The Mountain’, but alas, not til March 2026, yikes.

Here’s the list of the rest:

That’s all from me for today. Back to the bainistoir to send us away for tea. Slán.

Thanks Shane

I forgot to mention Mark E from EELS has a new record out this week with another musician from 79.5….under the moniker BOO BOOS…different but good…give it a listen and email if you want a copy

Bit of info:
“There was only one winner in the Britpop Wars: Pulp. They were in a Different Class….

Different Class (originally released October 30, 1995) is Pulp’s most successful album, achieving multi-platinum sales and international acclaim, winning the 1996 Mercury Music Prize and debuting at number one on the UK Album Chart. It also produced four Top Ten singles, including ‘Common People’.

Four months prior to the release of the album, the band headlined the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival on Saturday 24 June. Four months prior to the release of the album, the band headlined the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival on Saturday 24 June. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of what is widely regarded as one of the best records of the era, this legendary Glastonbury performance, the audio wholly restored and released here for the first time, has been paired with the remastered album (each cut over 2 LPs) and is released as a deluxe 4LP boxset.

The audio has been remastered/mastered by Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road, overseen by Jarvis Cocker and Mark Webber, and is presented in a sturdy slipcase with a comprehensive, 28-page booklet featuring extensive notes from new interviews with the band members, plus previously unseen images from photographers Rankin and Donald Milne (who took the photos for the original release) and the band’s own archives. The original ‘aperture’ sleeve design, which invited purchasers to “Choose your own front cover”, came with six double-sided inserts/art cards of alternative cover images depicting cardboard cutouts of the band members in a variety of situations. This has been fully recreated and a 12” by 12” poster featuring miniatures of the cutouts themselves is also included.”

And on October 18th it’s NAD or National Album Day!
Here are a few things from that:

That’s all the down the roads for today. If interested in anything just click the link and there will be more info.
Slán so. Back to you Ray, sound.

—————————————————————————————

First up is an instore thats very close. This Friday in fact. Its the one and only Caoilian Sherlock with the amazing Tessa Rose Jackson!

People. They released a (sad) duet a little while ago and its as earwormy as it get. One of the songs you wake up with in your head and go to bed still humming it.

Kicks off at 6pm this Friday the 8th and its free entry

Heres the track “Sad Duet”: https://youtu.be/-iqJKZ5Zvyw?si=-SDB5XtRXYQsmTQh

—————————————————————————————

Releases for the 8th of August include…

Next bit to announce is is a nice one. For fans of For Those I Love, he’ll be here on Saturday the 9th at 2PM. To get entry to this one ye’ll have to pick one of the options here on our website. He’ll be signing records and having a chat so will be a nice afternoon in the shop!

Releases for the 15th of August are

Ray left a note before he left for Kerry. Heres what he said:

Hi folks

Im writing this little piece on Sunday afternoon for the lads to put in the newsletter weds coming before i head off for a few days in Kerry. This is not a political piece, its simply a humanitarian piece. I have never mentioned this on these pages before but its to the forefront of my mind most days…Gaza.

Im sure a lot of you like me are just completely horrified and numbed by what is going on

there. It really is hard to fathom in a modern society. A man made famine. Not too dissimilar

to what happened in our own country 170 years ago. How is this allowed to happen? Im sure you feel rather helpless about it as I do.

My dear friend Mick (Monk) who is with us most Fridays of the year (some of you know him as

sandals!) and his daughter Jess have over the last few months been supporting families directly in Gaza. Jess got in contact via the internet months back now and has built relationships with numerous families over in Gaza. Some of these families have tragic rips in their family units now.

We here have supported Mick and Jess’s project a few times over the last few

months, ah sure its getting really critical there now. We are putting it up on the newsletter if

folks want to donate 10 or 20 euro or whatever they can. Don’t buy a record next week or

whatever it takes. A donation would be brilliant…

I can vouch for Mick and Jess 100 million percent, your donation will make a difference to some families over in Gaza.

Here is Jess with a few words and the link to donate…xx

“Hi all, my name is Jess, and many of you know my Dad Mick Monk, a regular in Music Zone. I just want to take a moment to tell you about the work I am doing to get food and clean water directly to displaced families in Gaza.

Many of you will be aware that Gaza is facing a man-made famine. Scarcity means the price of basics is astronomical. Flour costs up to $50 per kilo, and a family needs $100+ a day to survive. There is also a severe cash scarcity. Every cash withdrawal is charged up to 52% in commission. People simply can’t afford basics, and are drinking salt water to appease hunger.

The aid that gets in is minimal and immediately looted by armed gangs working with the occupation and sold back to people at unaffordable prices. Those who can’t afford food are forced to go to distribution sites where massacres take place every day.

Standard organizations can’t distribute supplies, so grassroots aid is critical. I am in touch with friends and contacts there daily and I work with my contacts and others supporting families to supply basic needs and send messages of support. Any donations make a huge difference and bring hope”

Email: jmonkjem@gmail.com

Back to Ray here now. Can I ask ye as well as donating could ye share around on yer social

media stuffs as well please. (Cheeky monkey i know) whats 20 quid? Please please xx

Adam here again. Great cause folks so please give what you can and a little of what you cant. The fact its gone on so long is our greatest failure as a planet…

Onto the week of the 22nd of August

Oasis – Complete Studio Album Collection / Box Set 8CD

Electronic – Raise The Pressure & Twisted Tenderness Reissues (2LP Black Vinyl)

The Who – Live at the Oval 1971 (CD/2 LP)

With 35,000 in attendance, on September 18, 1971 The Who headlined Goodbye Summer: A Rock Concert in aid of Famine Relief for the People of Bangladesh at The Oval cricket ground in Kennington, south London. Newly mixed from the original 8-track analog multi-track tapes, this concert shows The Who continuing their dominance as the top live rock band of the era. The outstanding performance culminates in Pete Townshend and Keith Moon destroying their equipment in a grand finale.

Miles Davis – Miles ’55: The Prestige Recordings (2CD/3LP)

  • Chris Stapleton – Traveller (10 Year Anniversary) (Coloured LP/Indies Coloured LP)

The Smashing Pumpkins – Machina/The Machines Of God 25th Anniversary (CD/2LP)

CD – 25th anniversary edition. Newly remastered CD reissue of this Pumpkins’ classic. Includes “The Everlasting Gaze,” “Stand Inside Your Love” and “Try, Try, Try.”

2LP – 25th anniversary edition. Newly remastered 180g vinyl reissue of this Pumpkins’ classic. Includes “The Everlasting Gaze,” “Stand Inside Your Love” and “Try, Try, Try.”

Then from Integral on the 29th we have:

Thats all from me folks so Ill hand ye over to Shane. Hope to see ye at Caoilian & Tessa!

Thanks, Adam!
Hi all, hope ye’re all ok as can be.

Well said about Gaza above by Ray and Adam, and a massive well done to Mick and his Daughter, Jess, for their efforts. I hope people will support.
It’s tragic and horrific what is happening there every day, and to voice support for Palestine is absolutely not anti-semetic. People have enormous sympathy for the genocide that happened to the Jewish people in World War 2. But now there is a genocide happening to the Palestinian people, it is seperate to what happened in the 40s.
Torture is happening on a mass scale to a people who can’t really defend themselves so that’s why people want to help.
I know that probably goes without saying but we’ll say it anyway.
It feels like we’re powerless most of the time, but things like this can certainly help.

On the releases for síos an bothair, there’s a really exciting Irish one this week to mention:
MICK FLANNERY & SUSAN O’ NEILL – In the Game (Live 2021-2025)

It’s coming out on October 17th on CD or Vinyl! In my opinion, in the top 3 Irish albums of the last decade. We played the hell out of it in-store around release time. Brilliant hooks and lyrics. And their voices really compliment each other on it. To hear it live here with crowd reactions/interactions will be very cool.
Here’s a bit more info on it:
“July 28In late February 2020, Mick Flannery and Susan O’Neill took to the stage of The Late Late Show in Ireland fora striking performance of their standout song, “Baby Talk” released the following week. What began as a one-off collaboration quickly sparked a creative connection between the two artists, one that would evolve into something much greater.

Soon after, Mick and Susan began writing and recording together, ultimately crafting a full album of original material. The result was In the Game, released in September 2021 to widespread acclaim. The record debuted atNo. 1 on the Irish Independent Albums Chart, remained in or near the Top 20 for several weeks, and went on to become the biggest-selling album in Ireland by a non-major label that year.

They tookIn the Game on the road throughout 2022, touring extensively across Europe and North America.Their live shows captivated audiences, with the album’s songs forming the backbone of a moving, timelessnarrative—about musicianship, love, struggle, and life onand off the stage. Over time, In the Game has becomea cherished album, continuing to resonate with listeners both in Ireland and abroad.

Now, five years on from that first performance, a live record captured across a series of shows from 2021 to2025—will be released this October, accompanied by a nationwide Irish tour and select UK dates.”

Here’s that Late Late Show performance: https://youtu.be/i5htWVUruxM?si=9nVm572b6dQW1wLz

Will be a great one to get. And it’s very reasonable too.

Here’s everything else (sorry if we missed bits this week, Ray usually sends us more stuff when he’s here):

Last but not least, there’s a brand new album from JEFF TWEEDY of Wilco, and it’s massive! It’s called ‘Twilight Override‘. out September 26th on 3 CD or 3 LP.
Here’s a bit more infor about it:
“Arriving five years after 2020’s “surreal and acutely felt” (New York Times) pandemic-era reflection, Love Is The King, Twilight Override is an intentional, sprawling three disc album, a testament to creativity in the face of overwhelming darkness. Recorded and self-produced by Tweedy at his Chicago studio, The Loft, with engineering and mixing from Tom Schick, Twilight Override features Chicago-based friends and family: James Elkington, Sima Cunningham, Macie Stewart, Liam Kazar, and Tweedy’s children Spencer and Sammy.

The three chapters of Twilight Override stand alone, but together, they tell a story of the past, present, and future. Each of today’s singles is picked from one of the discs comprising Twilight Override, offering a peek at the musical and thematic range to come.”
Here’s one of the singles:
https://youtu.be/uqnWfHkCPT8?si=AK7ij715OwucpU2p

Think that’s all from us this week.

Before I go, have a look at the WhazOn website: https://www.whazon.com/
Lots going on worth going to there.

Thanks a mill for listening as always.

Greg Freeman – Curtain (Official Video)

Going to hand ye over to Shane now as he takes ye down the road as usual ( it was a messy one for us all today)

Sound, Ray!
Hello y’all! Hope yere having a good week.
Yeah, Ray, a messy one alright. We’re getting way more jobs to do this year. Pre-orders, listening party links, promo things, chart approval and things like that.
It’s good that there’s a buzz about the shop but it can be a tad more stressful than it used to be.

I’m not going to toe the company line today! I could mention the DAVID GILMOUR new Live release or LED ZEPPELIN – Physical Graffiti 50th Anniversary 3 LP but instead I’m going to talk about one of my favourite bands since my teens.
Yes, SLIPKNOT are bringing out a deluxe 25th Anniversary version of their classic debut album on September 5th!
I remember having to smuggle Slipknot CDs into my house as a 12/13 year old. My parents were horrified by all their swearing and aggressive antics on stage. I insisted though.
I suppose I did turn out a bit off so maybe I should have listened to them.
Also remember buying a few Slipknot albums off Ray in Carrigaline, specifically Vol. 3 on release day off him.
Anyway, their debut is pure class. They had a really unique sound when it came out. Still do really.
There will be a 2 CD or black and red coloured 2 LP available from us. Those will have extra demo tracks, different mixes and bonus track Purity and Eeyore.
I was hoping to pick up the box set of this from their website, but alas it sold out before I could gather the money. Probably better off to be honest as the customs fees etc would have been mad.
So, yeah, class metal album! The intro track and opener (sic) is one of the best album intros ever in my opinion:

Here’s the list of everything else for ye:

Before I go, here’s a short vid of the CRY BEFORE DAWN EP getting pressed in Anthem Vinyl:

Thanks Shane

Sin e for this week folks

July 23rd: RIP Ozzy. SODA BLONDE this Saturday in-store! New BLACK KEYS, new LAST DINNER PARTY and totes, WAR OF THE WORLDS Box Set, NIN Soundtrack, TOM PETTY Blu Ray, and doggie trouble.

Hi folks

Hope all is well enough folks,

Ozzy has left us….a great character, Sabbath and Oz had a huge influence on so many.

Edmundo ( a regular with us) was in Villa Park just a couple of weeks back to see him….Ozzy managed four songs….im fairly sure he knew the end was very near …recent boxset named “ see you on the other side”…it was like a religious experience i was told ( the gig in Birmingham)

Rest in Peace Ozzy , one of a kind

Black Sabbath ~ War Pigs

Releases for the 25th of July  include…

Well well well, i work from home on Mondays and was back in the shop yesterday morning about 20 minutes id say and who is in,  only “Tipp lad”….we see him about twice a year and he only has money once every couple of years, but i see him 36 hours after the final whistle….uncanny!!

Only messing Tipp lad….as i said to him, it must be the sweetest and one of the greatest All Irelands Tipp has ever won….it is in my living memory anyway….and do you know what, fair feckin play to them , fully deserved, fully fully deserved, its there to be won and they reached out and grabbed it.

This Cork team has given us great days again this year and have to pick themselves up now again … .really tough few days and weeks ahead for these young lads … .but going again is the only answer. That’s sport.

Anyhoo, congrats my Tipp friends, fully deserved and no complaints here, better team by far won the match. I don’t think it gets any sweeter than that one. Well done.

Releases in the shop then for Friday August 1 include….

Really really cracking instore this Saturday coming at 4 pm when we have SODA BLONDE instore with us.

They have a new EP out “ people pleaser” and they will perform tracks from the EP and sign copies afterwards.

If cant make it in and want a signed copy, just let us know!

Here is another belter from the EP

Soda Blonde – The Saddest Thing (Official Lyric Video)

The main week we are plugging in the newsletter is for releases on the 8th of August … .if interested , shout please…

Going to hand ye over to Shane now as usual as he takes ye down the road ….

Hi all, hope ye’re doing ok. Thanks, Ray!

Yes, RIP to the legend Ozzy. Sabbath created metal, for me. Tony Iommi’s doomy riffs, distortion and note choices hit different, and coupled with Ozzy’s dark lyrics, it was totally new. Iommi loved horror films of the 60s and he felt the draw would be there if mixed with music too. Ozzy was a brilliant frontman for that. A mad bastard at times. I read Nicki Sixx from Motley Crues book, and they said that Ozzy was the maddest of them all.
Great song choice above, Ray, very much rings true with the state the world is in these days.
I was in a band as a teen and we used to play that and ‘Paranoid’.
Here’s one that reminds me of listening to Kerrang TV growing up, and again poignant. RIP Ozzy, Legend: https://youtu.be/LCCiwPEdEpg?si=lpF3hI-tlNO7xa3g

First one to mention for down the road is the brand new album from The LAST DINNER PARTY – From the Pyre. There will be CD, standard LP or indies Coloured Vinyl of it. And also, we’re getting some tote bags free to anyone who pre-orders the album.

This is their second album I think. There was a buzz around the first one in the siopa. Here’s a new track from it: https://youtu.be/4T5nNmaTPEY?si=fonAoi-fUJinPESm
Bit of a peaky blinders vibe going on there. The album is out on October 17th.

There’s a deluxe reissue of JEFF WAYNE’s – WAR OF THE WORLDS Musical coming out on August 8th. Every second person’s Dad had this.
It’s going to be a Deluxe 16 CD+2 Blu Ray box set with loads of extras.

And another one that caught my eye is the new Soundtrack for the movie TRON: ARES by NINE INCH NAILS. The trailer for it looks good. Daft Punk did the last movie soundtrack. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are well used to doing soundtracks nowadays.
Here’s a track from it:
https://youtu.be/-Sj-FmI5JfA?si=chzeaJWSJ3aUBnKS
Really like that, to be honest. The indies version of the vinyl is red coloured and comes with alternate cover and poster. Release date is 19/9/25. (The movie is out on October 10th.)

Here’s the lisht of the rest coming soon:

Think that’s everything. Had a few stressful days earlier in the week. Our dog, Taylor, was sick. (We have two, Hayley and Taylor.) Swollen stomach and shivering etc. We thought the worst. Had to step out on Monday to bring her to the vet. She was given light food and some injections and it wasn’t as bad as we thought. Phew. Part of the family as I know ye understand.
Thanks to Adam for covering the few hours for me.

Anyway, slán. Might see ye at the SODA BLONDE in-store.

Thanks Shane

Glad the dog is feeling better, it might have been the match that upset her.
