Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong worked with jazz producer Norman Granz from 1956 to 1957. (The other two are Ella & Louis Again and George Gershwin’s folk opera Porgy and Bess.) The small session group included guitarist Herb Ellis, the Oscar Peterson Trio with bassist and Ella’s husband Ray Brown, and drummer Buddy Rich, creating some of the most compelling jazz music in history.
