Rival Sons – Lightbringer (Vinyl)
Rival Sons, who stirs up a bluesy, psychedelic, West Coast-style vintage hard rock sound, and Dave Cobb, who continues to explore vintage rock sounds rooted in the roots of American music, such as country and Americana. Their latest work, “LIGHTBRINGER”, is the follow-up to “DARKFIGHTER”, which was born from their chemistry! Formed in 2008, the two-time Grammy-nominated L.A. band Rival Sons has garnered much attention as the legitimate heirs to the vintage rock sound of the 60s and 70s, and has released seven albums to date, including their self-produced debut. DARKFIGHTER” was released in June 2023.Produced by longtime collaborator and multiple Grammy award-winning producer Dave Cobb, the album charted in the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, and other European countries, and was featured on the cover of Classic Rock magazine and Rolling Stone magazine’s French edition. It was also featured on the cover of Classic Rock magazine and the French edition of Rolling Stone magazine. Just over four months after their last album, the band has released a new album. The new album is titled “LIGHTBRINGER”. The creation of these two albums is intertwined with each other, but at the same time, it is a testament to the band’s enduring progress. There’s a lot to think about when you put out two albums in a row like this,” says guitarist Scott Holliday. The first album has to have enough punch and story to make the second one have an even bigger impact. We balanced energy and meaning, but the next one always needed to deliver a big blow, and I think LIGHTBRINGER delivers that,” he continued with a grin. And according to frontman Jay Buchanan, “DARKFIGHTER” is the new LIVAL SOUNDS, and “LIGHTBRINGER” is the work that clearly defines them as they are today. We broke new ground with ‘DARKFIGHTER,’ but ‘LIGHTBRINGER’ is a step away from personal innovation and exploration. We’re taking things a little further. We really took everything into our own hands and pushed ourselves to see how far we could go. It was a kind of self-exploration to see who we are and who we will become. There was more friction and compromise than ever before. We found the essence of the direction we wanted to go in–and that’s where we went.
