Product Description
The Who – Ready Steady Who 7″ EP (Sell Out At The BBC)
RELEASE DATE: 1st November 2024
(Sleevenotes): This session, The Who’s seventh for the BBC, was the first time any band had been permitted to record outside the corporation’s own studios. The songs here were destined for the bands third LP The Who Sell Out and were specially remixed by Kit Lambert for radio transmission. As a result the tracks sound different to both stereo and mono LP versions. I Can See For Miles features clearer vocals plus a considerably enhanced Entwistle bass track which fills out the track. I Can’t Reach You and Our Love Was both show the simple perfection of Pete Townshend’s songwriting around this time. The former is a completely new mix, the latter has stripped down percussion and a novel country-style guitar part. Summertime Blues was not included on the album but it is a fine version, with reverb on the hand claps and a fuller drum sound than the version that would eventually emerge in 2009. This EP perfectly complements The Who Sell Out, their finest studio LP.
