I was really sorry to hear about SINEAD O CONNOR’S troubles during the week, i really do wish her well….i served her in a previous life in Mcdonalds and she seemed like a good skin….i hope she gets well soon.

A few big releases are still hitting the shelves including from Sony the latest BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN boxset from the river era “the tie that binds”. The set contains 52 tracks on 4 CDs with a wealth of unreleased stuff plus four hours of never seen footage on 3 DVDs or Blu-ray and a coffee table book with 200 photos. The DVD set retails at 85 euro and 95 euro for the Blu-ray and seeing as I haven’t thrown them a jab for a little while, my fearless faceless foes in the sky are selling them for 103 and 117 euro respectively…#easy #easy…

Faithless “2.0” gets its vinyl release as does the BBC LIVE LOUNGE 2015 (nice one as always that) and more vinyl reissues of OZZY OSBOURNE records “blizzard of oz” and “diary of a madman” and lastly on the Vinyl front from Sony is RUN THE JEWELS “ meon” on a double LP.
Sony on the pop front have releases today from OMI and FLEUR EAST and lastly for VAN fans a really nice THEM CD boxset which includes their two albums as well as demos, live sessions, alternate takes and rarities…..not taking it to DYLAN extremes but two discs of them…ahem…by them….by the way the latest DYLAN bootleg is excellent.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year with….and also the time when all the albums of the year lists come out….i am a firm believer that everyone has unique taste buds or in this case ear buds so I am going to tell you what I liked this year….which could be polar opposites to what you liked….on the international front I liked as the great PJ and purple would say…. in no particular order ….SUFJAN STEVENS – Carrie and Lowell, BLUR – THE MAGIC WHIP, TAME IMPALA – CURRENTS, RICHARD HAWLEY – HOLLOW MEADOWS, MUSE – DRONES and TOBIAS JESSO JNR – GOON.
On the very important home front, I really liked ( I listen to more home grown stuff than anything else) again in no order….GIRLS NAMES – ARMS AROUND A VISION, HAM SANDWICH – STORIES FROM THE SURFACE, JOHN BLEK AND THE RATS – BORDERS, THE HEDGE SCHOOLS – AT THE END OF A WINDING DAY, JAPE – THIS CHEMICAL SEA, THE HARD GROUND – TRIPTYCH, GIRL BAND – HOLDING HANDS WITH JAMIE and lastly and I may tip my hat to THE NORTH SEA – ANNIVERSARY….

COLDPLAY release their second album of the year ( throwback to 40/50 years ago creativity wise so fair play) “a head full of dreams” on CD and limited blue and green double LP on 180gram with download codes…all bells and whistles on this release…

WARNER also has new albums from JOOLS HOLLAND and RUBY TURNER, BETTE MIDLER and a new EP from the PUNCH BROTHERS “ THE WIRELESS” as well as some reissues including FLEETWOOD MACs “ TUSK” on 3 CD or boxset 5CD/2LP/DVD, AMADOU AND MARIAM “DIMANCHE A BAMAKO” which is a first timer on Vinyl…orange at that, GREEN DAY “ American idiot “ on double LP one red/black and one white/black….very expensive though at 50 euro…..lastly we have the new RICHARD HAWLEY 7”.

UNIVERSAL had a few out today also including KURT COBAIN “MONTAGE OF HECK” vinyl album and a single from the album is also out on 7″, CREAM release a 7″ singles boxset, ROY ORBISON vinyl boxset also in store, SIMPLE MINDS ” once upon a time ” gets the reissue treatment on five formats including LP and a 5CD /DVD set, Beatles 1s gets a vinyl reissue also, BOCELLI’S new album in on vinyl also and some nice SONIC YOUTH vinyl reissues including ” dirty”, ” goo” and ” washing machine”…bit of a theme in them!
Uni also have an album by Aussie sensation TROYE SIVAN, a new album by FATHER RAY KELLY and a remix album by THE KOOKS.

PIAS labels released a few today also including a SWANS reissue of ” white light from the mouth of infinity/love of life” in a deluxe vinyl set, OKKERVIL RIVER 10th anniversary of ” black sheep boy” on 3 LP via jagjaguwar and Irish lad Patrick O Laoghire aka i have a tribe has an interesting EP out today also…
