May 14th: New Irish Pressing Plant, new/limited ROBERT FORSTER, RSD instore video, new ALAN SPARHAWK, OZZY Box Set and EELS coloured vinyl

Hi folks

Hope all is well and all that yadda yadda.

Releases in the siopa for this Friday the 16th May include

Ye folks may or may not have heard but there is a new vinyl pressing plant just opened in Clane County Kildare called Anthem vinyl.

This is really good news for the little music ecosystem in the country.

It’s good for artists, bands, labels and shops to have a pressing plant in the country.

The really good news about Anthem from our perspective is they are really customer focused and really record shop focused…i know one of the lads running it quite well and Chris has always been a serious supporter of record shops in this country…it’s not going to change with Anthem, i think there will be a lot of plant/shop incentives happening over the years ahead.

It’s great for up and coming artists/bands or more established artists /bands to have a trusted, quality and customer led pressing plant on these shores. Keeps delivery costs to a minimum.

Anthem believes in the record shops…i think there are 47 record shops the length and breadth of the country … .If you manage to get 47 record shops behind a release, it will go a long way, I predict some high quality instores and a lot of collaboration with Anthem.

Here’s a little more info

I forgot i forgot i forgot last week the new Robert Forster – Strawberries lp/LP (Ltd indies only red vinyl)/CD on Tapete….its out on the 23rd May….that indies red vinyl is one press only of 250 only….we are getting 7 of it…not bad…be quick id imagine

Other releases for the 23rd of May include….

Just jumping back on the Anthem vinyl thing….i hope and think a lot of mid to high enough profile Irish Acts will use Anthem, bit of a one stop shop for the lot, pressing, fulfillment, chart eligible sales, local etc….if an act is not signed with a record company, Anthem probably has all the right tools for that act.

We contact a lot of these type of acts if they have a release coming not via a record company and its 50/50 whether they will deal with us….some of them see us and some of them dont….thats ok….those that don’t, probably think, what benefit is giving our record to a poxy shop, we have our own shop….they don’t see us, they don’t see ye folks, they don’t see  ( sorry buzzwords coming)  the community…that’s what all good record shops are.

Anthem sees us and that’s why it’s such a good thing from our point of view.

Anyhoo…we are going to stick in some of the performances from RSD over the next few weeks for your enjoyment….hope to have the Bockety instore for RSD here now if the superb IT dept got it done?….thanks to Tim as always for the high quality work ( which he gets a few records for…pittance….but Tim sees us)

And thanks to Terry , Dave, Ralf and Con from Bockety for coming in and playing for us on the day. Here’s the video:

Releases for the 30th of May then include ( ordering these ones in next few days so holler if interested in someit)

Here is a beautiful song from it….i thought when i heard it first that is was Mimi’s vocal that they had or it was something they had half done before and revisited it… but when i looked into it it turns out to be Alan and Mimi’s daughter Hollis on vocals

Alan Sparhawk – Not Broken (Official Video)

Heres a tune

Irish artist, Portlaoise native , signed to HEAVEN-SENT records

Here is a tune, i really like the song

Kean Kavanagh – A Cowboy Song (Official Video)

I can’t let this one pass without saying a few words … .this album means so much to me…it helped me out in sad and dark days, it was my friend, i found great comfort in it, it’s what music can do, the power of it…i have gifted this to a good few people over the last ten years, some get it and some don’t , that’s ok …10 years old it is already….here’s one from it about Sufjans relationship with a fatherly figure, whom he adored “ the man who thought me to swim, couldnt quite say my first name”

Some of you will get it and some won’t and that’s ok…it’s worth the 2 minutes 24 seconds to check though…

Sufjan Stevens, “Eugene” (Official Audio)
