Hi folks

Hope yer all well.

Come here to me come here to me…..ye never heard of “ the swans” …ffs like are ye Cork or what.

“ the swans” was a series of  comedy shows in the Cork Opera house in the 70s and early 80s….different names like “ the swans fleadh ceoil” etc etc….so when yer man hit his head and told the doc he was a swan….anyways , i kind of give up on ye.

Right right, next Sunday is going to be  a special one… really delighted to welcome Susan O Neill to the shop ( will have Killian with her also)….doors at 3 pm , performance @ 3.30…free entry, all ages….is going to be a truly lovely intimate instore, this is Susans debut record and we have been playing it a lot in the last few days ( perks of the job) its super….so Susan will be performing songs from the record , signing copies of the albums after the performance and having the chats with folks….instores are lovely in that regard….if you don’t normally attend, you should think about it, they are lovely ( if i say so myself)

If you can’t attend and want Susan to sign an album for you, just let us know and we will sort it or buy it from the site with a note asking for it to be signed!!

This could be the debut album of the year methinks, what a voice!! And you can get a signed copy 2 days after release!….here is a tune from it…see ye sunday!!

I hope ye are still getting the newsletter … .the cull of ( hopefully) bogus accounts has taken place….

Also a couple of things to note … .sometimes ( most times) after the newsletter goes out the website cant take it  and the website goes down, but give it an hour or two and you will be able to view the links again etc… .so come back to us!!

Secondly, the newsletter can be too long…I know I know, this time of year a load of links to try to get up … .so when it cuts out it will say view entire message so if you want to read on…click view entire message … .sin sin on that folks.

Right , i shall be ordering from the record companies in the next few days for releases for the 4th Oct mainly and here is what’s on offer folks….shout if you are after someit here…

There do be loads going on this time of the year for us so we are doing our best to get the info out to ye folks….

National Album Day is on Saturday the 19th of October this year and we need figures back to the record companies in the next few days ( for some companies anyway) …we have quite a few on the site already….maybe Shane has some of them here…nice Fisherman’s blues coloured vinyl to name just one…..and Shacks debut on vinyl for the very first time…..bit of a strange one NAD so bare with me here

Most companies allow preorders ( we can put links on our site and sell away. Hold them for folks etc…no issue)….some others allow preorders also but we cant put links on our site until the day ( saturday the 19th of Oct) and some dont allow preorders…. im told  “product can only be sold in store on 19/10, no pre-orders but you can list them as coming ..  that is our directive from UK labels” so some albums not on our site….so the best thing is if your interested to go through the list here and if you would like something email us back and we will note it for you…nod nod wink wink …as i said a good bit going on…need numbers in a few days!!!

Heres the list

Sound, Ray, yeah, lots going on. Sorry we didn’t get some links done for the website. I suppose a lot of ye email anyway to ask for stuff but I know some prefer going through the website.
Here’s the list of stuff we have for National Album Day again, the ones up on the site anyway:
NATIONAL ALBUM DAY PRODUCTS

There’s also a promotion called ROCKTOBER with lots of coloured limited reissues.
Here’s the list of everything for that. Best prices for a few here. If interested in any of the other ones just let us know: ROCKTOBER RELEASES

As Ray mentioned there, two biggies announced during the week. First up the Fab Four’s early albums in Mono, including some live ones. The Beatles – 1964: Albums in Mono

These are getting individually reissued and all together as part of a big box set.
Some more info on that:
“1964 was the year that the U.S.A. first fell head-over-heels for The Beatles, with an unprecedented run of albums and singles topping the charts and going on to sell millions of copies. But these albums are not simply replicas of the 1963 and 1964 albums released by Parlophone in the UK and rest of world. Seeing a different opportunity, Capitol Records and United Artists compiled these albums for U.S. release between January 1964 and March 1965.

To celebrate the momentous year when Beatlemania exploded across the U.S., seven Beatles albums are collected for a spectacular new 8LP vinyl box set. Meet The Beatles!; The Beatles’ Second Album; A Hard Day’s Night (Original Motion Picture Sound Track); Something New; The Beatles’ Story (2LP); Beatles ’65; and The Early Beatles all feature faithfully replicated artwork and new four-panel inserts with essays written by American Beatles historian and author Bruce Spizer. The albums’ new vinyl lacquers were cut by Kevin Reeves at Nashville’s East Iris Studios with constant reference to the original vinyl first pressings to ensure they are faithful to the original release, while also enabling more musical information to be heard than was possible before. 180 gram audiophile pressings. The Beatles’ Story 2LP is exclusive to the box set.”
Released on November 22nd.

And as well as that, the debut album from QUEEN is getting a deluxe reissue and super deluxe box set.
So there will be the standard CD, a 2 CD expanded set, remastered vinyl and a 6 CD+1 LP box set.
Here’s some info about the box set:

“This Collector’s Edition sees the album presented in a whole new light, having been newly mixed from the original multi-track masters, and with the song “Mad The Swine” now reinstated into the album running order in its originally intended place.

The bonus discs that complete the 6CD+1LP set include: De Lane Lea Demos (also newly mixed from the original multi-track masters for the very first time); a CD comprised entirely of previously unreleased Queen I session out-take music and dialogue; a CD of instrumental and backing track versions of the album; a live CD featuring some of the best and most interesting live performances of songs from this album (some of which are previously unreleased); and finally, a disc comprised of Queen I tracks that were recorded for BBC Radio One (including DJ announcements).

Queen I – including “Mad The Swine” – is also presented on 180g black vinyl.

The Collector’s Edition is complemented by the addition of a 108-page 12” hardback book, which features a treasure trove of rare and previously unseen photography, hand-written lyrics, Freddie Mercury’s sketches, and more.

Presented in a rigid two-piece box with fold-out poster and four photo prints.”

That’s out on October 25th. Both in plenty time for Christmas!

Here’s the list of everything else coming down the tracks in the next few months:

Just before I keep going, there’s a few other NAD titles we got forwarded by The Orchard:
June Tabor & Oysterband – Freedom & Rain (clear/black smoke vinyl)
The Subways – Money & Celebrity (red/white split LP)
The View – Cheek for a Read (black and clear smoke vinyl)

So again, let us know if interested in any of those.

That’s all folks, I think.
