March 26th: New CMAT! Ray Rant! RSD stock cuts update, The CLIFFORDS and THE CARDINALS rising, UHD Jazz CDs, DIRE STRAITS 40th Anniversary, BUDOS BAND Purple Vinyl

Hi folks

Hope all is well…weather quite nice lately, makes a big difference.

Got an email there yesterday about Amazon in Ireland and opportunities for retailers with them.

With their Cead mile failte …three words for them…9 letters  Go is the first word and the other two words begin with F and O… … ..opportunities me arse.

Here’s a line from the email…

With Amazon.ie now live, competition for online sales is surely intensifying, that much is obvious!

Anyone hear a hint of menace in the line…..

Same three words from me with a little bit more bite … .abbreviated for brevity here…with  a bit of  venom though…GFO….do you know what…scrap the abbreviation…Go Fuck right Off with yer opportunities for local retailers.

I really hope folks in general will stop and think a bit more before making a purchase … .give the independent retailer a chance… give them a shot.

Biased i know, but there is something special about independent shops i feel….record shops, book shops, bric a brack shops….we are communities generally, customers support us, we support customers, local bands/artists etc etc….GFO with yer cead mile failte.

Anyhoo….folks seem to like when im grumpy ( the tongue do be in the cheek a bit ) releases in the shop for this Friday the 28th of March include:

Still trying to tidy up the music for RSD….think we have 4 acts at the moment…hoping for a 5th …should have a firm update next week!!

Releases then for the 4th April include…

RSD stock update time folks…

Still hounding the rep on THE DOORS release….no movement though from the 3 copies on the shelf….further news on cuts below here…if you see your “ wishlisted” title below, better be early is the advice

Proper cuts below with PIXIES the most problematic…i asked for 12 copies….got cut in half…getting 6…7 of ye wishlisted it….

Suede ordered 14…getting 10…9 wishlisted it…MJ is bang on wishlist level…quo should be ok…some of the others i dont have good info yet im afraid only they were cut….trying to manage 500 releases and get good info out to ye is tricky so bare with me!!

Also the Fred Again releases aren’t going to make it on time so these will be released now later in year…again just passing on the info!

No need for a GFO for me please

Heres the list of titles cut by Proper…

SUEDE
MJ LENDERMAN
PIXIES
STATUS QUO
DOCTOR WHO
DEAD OR ALIVE
MISSION
BLACK STONE CHERRY
VINCE GUARALDI
DEICIDE
THE DWARVES
BUDY-MAGLIONE

An important note here, please ask me on the day if you don’t see a record you are after….it could be simply delayed … .it happens every year….anything up to 20 releases can simply be delayed/late….so Ask me, Ask me , Ask me.

Also also also Cork bands THE CLIFFORDS and also THE CARDINALS starting to make ripples around the world. THE CLIFFORDS signed a record deal recently and are with top management , long way to go but the future could be bright, they are starting to get bums in seats around the world…great to see some of our own making waves.

Even though I laughed when I read this, folks from the rest of the country will laugh harder though…got a mailout from a PR company in the UK about THE CLIFFORDS recently ( sent to a ton of people not just Cork people like) and heres a few lines from it

“ It might be Ireland’s second biggest city, but Cork isn’t renowned for its pulsing cultural output, and whilst The Frank and Walters might resonate with a listener of a certain vintage, there’s little else paving the way for an ambitious young band kicking hard at the glass ceiling, and harbouring ambitions better aligned with those success stories 160 miles north in Dublin”

Do I need to bring out my GFO again…anyways, the very best of luck to them ( the band that is , not the PR company!)

Heres a nice article rolling stone done last week with the band

Below is a list of Japanese UHQ-CD reissue series, marking the 85th anniversary of Blue Note Records. Long one today it felt, going to hand ye over to Shane now as he takes ye down the road etc….

Sound, Ray, yeah, bumper one this week! Will probably be the same next week with the RSD live acts news and things. Fair play on your rant at the big beast in the sky! Shower of cunts!

We love your rants! Between that and the sun we’ll all be in great form for the rest of the week.
Hello everyone, hope ye’re all doing well!

There’s been an update to the Declan O Rourke RSD Kyabram with Kisses release. A collab track announced on it:

Will be a nice one to get on the day!

I watched the documentary film about the poet Pat Ingoldsby last night on RTE. Class. What a unique soul he was. My friend bought me one of his books recently, I’m hooked. I remember him sitting outside the GPO in Dublin selling his work.
But Imelda May was in the doc and she read a couple of his poems. Great watch. I guess it’s on the player now.

First release to mention is a big one, the brand new album from CMAT – Euro-Country. She has been going from strength to strength in recent years. Talented girl. Popular in the siopa.
Here’s a new track from her: https://youtu.be/hAvWMb-zoKM?si=l56FrZqgfyd5Z0pC

The album will be released in August, and we’ll be getting it on CD, black Vinyl and indies coloured vinyl.

One that wasn’t announced until after the newsletter went out last week, DIRE STRAITS – Brothers in Arms: 40th Anniversary Edition. Remastered with loads of extras. Out May 16th. Here’s a bit more info:
“One of the world’s best-selling albums, Dire Straits’ Brothers In Arms, celebrates its 40th anniversary with an exquisite 5LP deluxe edition.

The 5LP deluxe box features the full studio album and a previously unreleased full-length live concert from the band’s Municipal Auditorium, San Antonio tour stop in 1985. Housed in a slip-case with art prints and a 16-page booklet featuring new liner notes, following new interviews with band members Mark Knopfler, John Illsley and Guy Fletcher.”

And a band I like a lot are releasing their new full length album on May 30th, THE BUDOS BAND – VII. CD and Limited Purple Vinyl of that. If ye haven’t heard them they’re mainly instrumental but with very groovy Sabathy riffs with guitars and brass. Here’s a new track from them: https://youtu.be/bzEiUxdDj0o?si=LRQzvHVljKH9pjRI

Oh and there’s a brand new album coming out from MORGAN WALLEN – I’m the Problem on May 16th also. 2 CD and indies 3 LP vinyl available of that. I was calling him Wallace and Grommet there for a while. Getting old!

Here’s everything else coming soonish:

To those who have gotten this far, thanks!

Before I go, here’s the new bÚkl music video for the track ‘Bubble’ off the new album:

Maybe subscribe if ye enjoy!
Thanks again to everyone who has supported the album so far! CDs are nearly gone but more on the way.

That’s all from me. Back to you Ray so bud.

Thanks a mil Shane

Sin e really for this week folks
