Hi folks

Hope yer all doing well and looking forward to Santa.

Not sure what kind of a newsletter this one will be as messy time of the year for us….but if you see anything listed/linked below then please shout at us for it if you want it

 

Releases for this Friday the 12th here….its the last week of any major releases really

 

 

14 days into Christmas … .It’s a bit of a countdown for all small retailers really … .trying to mind stuff and get some stuff for people and not drop too many balls and ideally sell stuff!!

Christmas is tricky as there is a time deadline for most people and with deliveries always wonky , its a bit tricky…but we always do our best.

A few bits of housekeeping next … .last orders are going to be done over the weekend so if chasing something for christmas let me know and ill do me best….if your an online friend, it maybe a little trickier but again will do our best

We are opening this SUNDAY THE 14TH FROM 1 TO 5 PM…OPEN SUNDAY … .I will update on more opening hours next week … .but that’s the main change in the next 7 days.

Also the students are back doing their christmas exams…this week and next week….there are a few bollards in our parking spots….get out and move bollard and park away or park around the side also….park it anywhere…call into us if in trouble and we will sort it…no drama!

With the new DRY CLEANING album below on the 9th of Jan….there are signed prints available with preorders….need them this week though!! Need all preorders this week in fact!!

We have some class instores coming up in the new year…the ever wonderful John Blek has a new album out on 16th of Jan and will be in with us on Saturday the 17th @ 2 pm…here is a cracking tune from the new record

We will have DANI LARKIN on the 31st of Jan ….more on that in the new year…Dani is really talented and we are very much looking forward to the performance here in the shop…new album out the day before

One that I do want to mention is Madra Salach … .mean anything to you?….well my guess is in 12 months time a lot of people will know who Madra Salach are….so Madra Salach are releasing their debut EP on Friday the 23rd of Jan….and they are playing in the siopa on Monday the 26th of Jan…heres one of the singles from the band so far…its stuck in me ceann and truth is when i heard it first i wasnt sure i liked it….now i fffing love it

Blue & Gold

There is a mish mash of all sorts of influences…pogues, lankum, MBV,  a lazarus soul, dubliners…i hear all of them but unique as well … ..something special about them.

The main reason im saying this now is we put the link for the ep and a spot at the instore up last friday with very little fanfare and about 20 people already have bought the ep and hence booked their spot at the instore….so i dont want ye folks to miss out….if you want to go….buy the EP here…i think its the start of something special

Here’s a live performance from Next Door Records in London … .you really should watch it all if you have the 40 minutes,  its brilliant … .a mix of their own material and a few covers thrown in….but if you have 10 minutes go from 10 to 20 minutes…ribbon factory is class and then they do a cover of Sineads “ black boys on mopeds”…i had goosebumps…get in on the 26th is my advice…you have the info party people

Next Door Sessions: Madra Salach

Last instore to note for now …is super Cork band Cardinals who release their debut album “ Masquerade” on Friday the 13th of February….the band will be with us the night before to launch the album with us…so they are in on thursday the 12th of Feb at 7 pm.

First one to mention from me this week is the reissue of JEFF BUCKLEY – The Complete Live at Sin É. On 2 CD or 4 LP Vinyl set. This is a class solo live album from the small little venue in New York City. My family and I trekked across the city when we went there about 17 or 18 years ago to try to find it but all we found was a pet shop. I’m a big fan of Jeff! I had their heads wrecked!
That one will be out on February 13th.
It hasn’t been on vinyl since RSD a good few years ago.

For the metal fans, MAYHEM have a brand new album! Out in February. I’ll list below.

For sci-fi/horror fans, the soundtrack to Season 5 of STRANGER THINGS is out at the end of January. CD, black vinyl or indies Sea Blue Smoke Vinyl.
Noelle and I watched the first four episodes, number 4 was very exciting! Some great tracks in there so far.

And a first timer on vinyl MICHAEL JACKSON – Number Ones is coming out on black vinyl and red vinyl 2 LP also at the end of January.
