RSD Lists With Pricing, RIP Mark Lanegan, New Ghost, Bryan Adams, Midlake And More

Hi Everyone,

Hope all is well out there.

Its RSD wishlist week….sorry i was napping last week and we put out the american RSD list…here is the correct one for here/Europe and the UK with lots of info…

Tonight , we will ( well truth be told,  Shane will,) send out some record company lists for the day RECORD STORE DAY Saturday April 23rd with prices to give you a better idea….tonight we will send Integral/Pias, Sony, Orchard, Proper, Shellshock, SRD and Cargo…we haven’t received pricing from Warner, Uni , LITTLE AMBER FISH, RoM yet as well as a few smaller companies as well…Warner is due so should make this newsletter.

Will hopefully send Universal and anyone else next week.

We are asking for your help here as regards the wishlist…most of ye know the drill but if this is new to anyone…this spiel  is for ye… a wishlisted record  is a record you would hope to get on the day…you are greatly helping us by sending back any wishlist you may have as it allows us to fight harder for stock we need and also if its a rather obscure record it makes sure it is ordered in …unfortunately we cant guarantee you will get your record  but most people who wishlist us end up been happy ….so critically a wishlist is not a guarantee but we will do our best to secure enough stock to cover the wishlists…thats the hope anyway!

I need wishlists back by close of play weds the 9th of March…that is only 2 weeks away….some record companies need the orders back to them on the 10th of March …so the full list is above and here Shane will do some magic to get out  some record companies RSD lists with pricing here:

A lot always gets said about Record Store Day, some positives, some negatives…its a game of opinions folks…there was an article by a record shop owner in England doing the rounds where he felt a year off from it would maybe allow the plants catch up and allow smaller labels and artists to get their records pressed, he also argues about the curation of the stock for the day …a bit more merit to his second point for me…re the first point though, big or small to my knowledge,( i have asked some local artists who do vinyl runs), you have to book your slot at the plant, it is 6 to 9 months lead time to get a record pressed at the used be 12 weeks….canceling RSD for the year won’t solve that problem…alleviate it slightly, fair enough,  but that’s all ….there are probably 100 records a week sold to me if not more, we cherry pick what we stock or think we can sell…so its 4 weeks worth of  records sold to us in one week…..its not clogging up the plants completely….increase capacity is the only thing that will properly alleviate the queues  but that’s a risky venture and an expensive one also…but cancel RSD over the supply chain and queues at plants , i would think that’s very extreme…the day was set up to help record shops and we sell more records on that day than any other day in the year…probably times 2 or 3…i would regard it so highly and so important in our year…the man who wrote the article says the job of the record shop in its simplest terms is to sell records…so let us sell them i say…game of opinions folks.

Also there is a second smaller release day for RSD on the 18th June which are for the releases that won’t make the starting post for the main event on Saturday the 23rd April…wishlists appreciated folks!!

Terrible sad news overnight with the passing of MARK LANEGAN at just 57 years of age…an amazing life he led, packed more into it than most would in 10 lifetimes, what a legacy he left, what a voice,  alas still too young to go…very sad…here is “ resurrection song” from him….rest in peace Mark

Sound Ray!
Hey all! Hope ye’re all keeping well. Sad news about Mark Lanegan, a huge loss. I saw him supporting Guns n Roses in Slane a few years back, he was quality.

A few bits of interest again this week:

First up, one biggie, well two, the latest Daft Punk reissues! ‘Homework‘ and ‘Alive 1997‘. They’ve been out of print for a while and sought after, so great to have them reissued now. They’re coming through Warner on April 15th.

Secondly, one of my favourites, IRON MAIDEN, will be releasing a commemorative cassette of their classic album ‘Number of the Beast‘. Yes, a cassette. They haven’t taken off at all like vinyl but definitely collectors will have an interest! Out March 18th.

Next, Seattle lads PEARL JAM will be releasing the two volumes of their greatest hits on vinyl!

On the Irish front, 2 very interesting releases. Firstly, alt/noise rock band, JUST MUSTARD will be releasing their second album at the end of May, here’s the new single, ‘Still’ from the album
Sounds class!

Also, Limerick-born, London-based, SINÉAD O BRIEN will be releasing a new album on June 10th. Here’s a song from it
I like the strong accent! She writes poetry as well and has been published in London.

Oh, before I go, here’s last week’s Youtube video from Ray and Adam:
Give a like and subscribe on there if you can!

Back to you Ray!

New Band Of Horses, Some Cracking Irish Releases, RSD First Look And Out Galavanting After Today’s Ad

Hi Everyone

Hope all is well….i’m as excited as a little baby puppy…i am…A LAZARUS SOUL are playing Coughlans Live tonight with support from ARRIVALISTS  and i am as excited as a little puppy…this is the one, ohh this is the one…pure magic are the only words for it…what should be a great night of class music….when all the gigs were been canceled march/april/may 2020 and the shite was hitting the fan i think i had about 7 tickets bought for various gigs, but this was the one i was most looking forward to and most disappointed when it was canceled …here we are now though!! Pure magic…..great band  by the way in case they are new to you

Here is “ funeral sessions” from A LAZARUS SOUL

Right enough about me…here are the releases in the siopa for this Friday the 18th of Feb…

Khruangbin & Leon BridgesWHITE LIES , SPIRITUALIZED

And now we have the releases for the 25th of feb…the new JOHNNY MARR album, SOFT CELL TANKARD boxset, AVRIL LAVIGNE  and a new RICHARD CLAYDERMAN comp.

The main point of attack of this weeks ad is friday March 4th …ah Terry harsh kid…Terry is a pushing on geezer from the east end of London town who one day 5 or 6  years ago said to me…” you know it was in your ad” and i was looking at him as if he had 3 heads and was from London town…he repeated it a bit more floury in a thick London accent “ it was in your fuckin AD” …Ad…is he talking about my weekly masterpiece…fucking Ad he is calling it…i never thought of it like that and off course he was right, would;nt tell him that though….should;nt have said he was pushing on either i suppose! Rumour has it he pushed Adam Ant off the stage they shared when playing a gig together back in the day in London town…be careful out there Bob! …anyway the 4th of March…sorry first….RSD will jump upon us very soon and i know theres a few leaks and slippages out there already…we will as ever, like every other year, send out the full lists when we are allowed to and we shall ask for wishlists as usual and will keep the lines of communication as open as we can…so more on that over the weeks…critical point …a wishlisted record is not a guarantee..anyway more on that over the weeks but back to the AD.

We were caught a bit by surprise with the RSD 2022 List of Releases. It’s just been announced, here is a link to the list: RSD 2022 Releases

We will have more in-depth info next week with prices but will start the wishlist in the shop now so the book is open now for any requests!

Right so, the 4th of March, Warner have the brand new BAND OF HORSES album on BMG entitled “ things are great” …6th album now from Ben Bridwell’s alt country rockers from Seattle…there has been a lineup change and Ben says he is back with renewed vigor…this is available on CD, std lp and indie shop only coloured vinyl…i like their sound…here is “ in need of repair” from the new record

BMG also have JOHN MCLAUGHLIN “ the montreux years” on CD and LP, PINK FLOYD MUSIC LTD reissue debut “ piper at the gates of dawn” on mono, yep remastered from the original mono tapes…remaster was 2017 and a very limited release in 2018 so released again now.

Rhino have a reissue of RANDY NEWMANs 4th album “ good old boys” as a 2lp, there is a new MARIANNE FAITHFULL album “ vagabond ways” on cd and lp, mainly covers i think, produced by Daniel Lanois…. brand new SABATON album also out on the 4th March via nuclear blast “ the war to end all wars “ …well hopefully not!…cd, deluxe cd and lp on this one.

Last one from Warner for the 4th of March is the second album from MIKE CAMPBELL AND THE DIRTY KNOBS “ external combustion” on BMG…Mike was TOM PETTYs sidekick in the heartbreakers for years and this is now his second album since his life changed forever in 2017…CD only for now on this one, lp later in the year…here is “ wicked man” from the new album…good ole fashioned rock n roll

UNIVERSAL for the 4th March have the debut album by KAWALA on EMI records called “ better with you” …here is im good like this from the album

Bluenotes Tone Poet series returns with 2 more titles on the 4th March …with SONNY REDs “ out of the blue” and GRANT GREENs “ the latin bit” getting the high quality represses out of Record Technology Incorporated ( RTI)

Because music has a reissue of the CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS debut album “ Chaleur Humaine” on vinyl.

Lovely, interesting Irish release ( half cork like) out on the 4th of march via Dimple discs is the debut album by Jackknife Lee and Cathal Couglan TELEFIS … the record is called A HAON… it  is an exploration of Irish nostalgia and modern global hierarchies,

strange characters and caricatures springing from Coughlan’s fertile imagination,

while Jacknife Lee creates irresistible electro-funk backdrops full of melodic,

squelchy synths and thunderous basslines.

Here is one of  the tracks from it “ mister imperator”

The Orchard for the 4th of March  sees the release of STEREOPHONICS brand new album ‘Oochya!’, their 12th studio album featuring the new single ‘Hanging On Your Hinges’.

The veteran Welsh rock band were formed 30 years ago, in 1992, and 2022 also marks 25 years since the release of their debut album.

We also have Canadian folk band The Weather Station – ‘How Is It That I Should Look At The Stars‘, self-described as “a quiet, strange album of ballads” – please note stock limited so cuts may have to be made….at the moment we are allocated for 10 copies of the indies vinyl version but with the orchard trust me that can change….just warning ye…last years album was really good…here is “ endless time” from the new one

We hope to get a few copies of THE CORAL self titled lp reissue via ROM on white vinyl …it is expensive at 44 euro…due around the 4th march also.

Proper have a nice few for the 4th of March…Highlights  include the brand new studio album from Dolly Parton…available on cd and lp,  the debut release from the brilliant CMAT….here is “ lonely” from the debut album

CMAT is the stage name of Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, from Dublin Ireland, one to watch out for me thinks…she says  “I realised the thing I was best at in music was toplining – coming up with melodies, lyrics, hooks, arrangements, structure; the skeletal form of everything is what I know I can do.”

Well thats some start! Available on cd, std lp, indies lp and cassette i think also.

Proper also have a  beautifully repackaged reissue from Mulligan Records of the landmark Andy Irvine/Paul Brady album on indies coloured lp and cd….beautiful album.

Going to hand ye over to Shane now who will run through a few interesting but further down the line releases with ye..

Cheers Ray! Hey everyone, hope ye’re good and the week is going smoothly enough. Nothing massive this week compared to last but some interesting ones coming up nonetheless that we thought were worth a mention.

First up is a reissue of the excellent debut record by Goldfrapp, ‘Felt Mountain’. It’s going to be available on limited gold vinyl which is nice. That will be out on March 25th through Warner. Here’s one of the singles from it, ‘Utopia’

Second up is a very limited ‘fastest finger first’ 12″ EP release from up and coming London band FOLLY GROUP, they’ve a post-punky sound, the singer of IDLES is a fan and has been giving them rave reviews. Lots of interesting stuff coming out of London. You picked a good spot Bob! Here’s a track from the new EP

Thirdly is the brand new album by CYPRESS HILL called ‘Back in Black’ (sounds familiar!) which will also be out on March 25th. Their last one ‘Elephants on Acid’ was quality, so looking forward to it.

Also, just a quick note, there are a few other interesting ones coming. A first timer on vinyl live album by QUEENSRYCHE, an interesting hidden gem 70s compilation from David Hepworth and a HALL AND OATES reissue of ‘Marigold Sky’

Anyway those are the main ones that are coming down the line, but not too far away either.

Back to you Ray! Enjoy the gig tonight!

Thanks Shane!

Right INTEGRAL for the 4th march have the reissue of BRONSKI BEATs debut, a brand new Porches album, a lovely couple of reissues from SOUL JAZZ records “ studio one dub” and The Winstons ‘Color Him Father’ .

Lastly for this weeks ad so is Integral for the 11th March, there is a brand new album by ALEX CAMERON “ oxy music” on Secretly Canadian , a fine FRANZ FERDINAND best of compilation on Domino on loads of different formats, there is a brand new album also from JENNY HVAL and last but not least is another Irish release ( really nice sprinkling of Irish releases across this week’s newsletter…great to see) this one is a brand new EP from Dublin band SPRINTS …ep is called “ a modern job” …here is a cracking tune from it “ how does the story go”

…its out via nice swan records…i be honest the 3 tunes i have heard from this band are cracking…really cracking.

Sin e for this week really

Im off out galavanting

Thanks for listening as always

Ray, Shane and Young Adam

Johnny Marr Is Back, New Chilis Album With J.F., Beth Hart Does Zeppelin And CD Love

Hi folks

Hope all is well.

Few nice little interesting bits landed into the shop in the last week which I may not have mentioned before now. We are delighted to get some copies of the new ARRIVALISTS album on CD …beautifully packaged CD to be fair, full of beautiful songs…” last of the written words “ it is called.

We have got copies of JOHN BLEK’S “ on ether and air” on cassette!!

And local metal band SOOTHSAYER have a brand new cd out “ echoes of the earth”…the new BIG THIEF album is sounding only lush to me also.

Right firstly we have releases in the siopa for this Friday the 11th Feb …the new ALT J record “ the dream “ , SLASH album featuring MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS
AMORPHIS “ halo” ,BRUNO MARSSEPULTURA,  John Prine tribute album, new EMPATH STOCKTON’S WING,  FRANK TURNER,  KANYE WEST and EDDIE VEDDER‘s new solo album

Khruangbin & Leon BridgesWHITE LIES , SPIRITUALIZED

.i think i may have forgot to plug the Cargo releases for the 18th last week with all my excitement in giving out about spotify…i won’t go there again for fear of more abuse..( im serious !) so Cargo for the 18th Feb have the new album by ANDY BELL “ flicker” as CD or limited clear vinyl, there is a ROLLING STONES “live in london and detroit 1969” tv and radio broadcasts on Rhythm and blues records and there are 2 JOHN FRUSCIANTE LP reissues of “ the empyrean “ and “ curtains” …Shane will have more on Frusciante later…oh yes indeedy…KANYE’s – my dark twisted lp is finally going to be back in stock thursday if anyone interested.

Right so , moving onto the releases for the 25th of Feb…Warner have the new JOHNNY MARR album on BMG/ADA called “ fever dreams pts 1 to 4” …it comprises a few eps released last year…i really like Johnny’s three solo albums to be honest, all good …this one is available as CD, std black vinyl as well as a limited turquoise vinyl…we were allocated 16 copies of this version so fine for now but wont last long either…here is “ lightning people” from the new record

Warner also for the 25th Feb have a brand new SOFT CELL album on BMG also…” happiness not included” …good title…MARC ALMOND and DAVE BALL return with their 5th studio album and first album in 20 years! This one is available on CD and indies only yellow vinyl version…here is “ heart like chernobyl” from the new album.

Warner also has a TANKARD boxset, brand new AVRIL LAVIGNE on CD and a new RICHARD CLAYDERMAN comp.

UNIVERSAL for the 25th of Feb have a brand new album from TEARS FOR FEARS on Concord…” tipping point” is the title and it is available on a few formats, CD, deluxe CD, std vinyl and a limited indies only green vinyl…fine band in their day and this is their first studio album in nearly 20 years also…here is the title track for the album

Tears For Fears – The Tipping Point (Official Music Video) – YouTube

Another interesting release from Concord on the 25th of Feb is the new ROBERT GLASPER album “ black radio 3” …CD and LP available on this one from the four time grammy winner..a mish mash of hip hop, R&B and Jazz …quality stuff…here is black superhero from the new album

Robert Glasper – Black Superhero (Official Music Video) – YouTube

Brand new Rock album from SCORPIONS on Spinefarm records also out via Uni.

“ rock believer” is the title and is available as a CD, 2CD deluxe, LP and limited 2LP gatefold ..the deluxe versions have the full 16 tracks…just 11 tracks on the one disc versions.

Impulse reissue two Jazz classics with self titled releases of DUKE & COLTRANE and also COLTRANE & JOHNNY HARTMANN.

UMC have a reissue of YUSEF/CAT STEVENS “ teaser & the firecat” and there is a CURTIS STIGERS release on cd and lp..compilation type of thing.

Sony for the 25th of Feb has a debut album by Londoner BAKAR on black butter records…its available on cd. Lp and an indies only white version also…could be hearing a lot more from him i think in years to come…here is the 1st time from the debut record

Bakar – 1st Time (Official Video) – YouTube

Lots of talk/articles online about “the cd revival”…it never needed to be revived from where we sit, granted we do more vinyl but we do sell nice levels on cd as well…generally on the new releases to be fair…back catalogue is slow to be fair ( our customers have the back catologue already!!) …in the uk in 2021 physical music was up 7.3% on 2020…the first growth in physical music in nearly 20 years…see the cd was in decline year after year…CD sales increased by nearly 2% last year for again the first time in 20 years…vinyl grew once more by over 20% in the uk to 135 million pounds…is there a stabilization of the physical formats? We hope so obviously!…streaming has the bulk of the revenue with 85% of the market and downloads fell again by 27% …back to the CD…if you are an up and coming band /artist ( in my opinion) you have to produce a cd..ideally vinyl also..tee shirts, mugs, lyric books, hats, sandals..anything else you can sell from your merch table after a small show…you will sell them…bands that don’t produce a CD are nuts in my opinion…why not ? cost of making them is low and they will sell…why not make them…it makes no sense …and we saw it in the last few years that some bands/artists were not releasing their albums on CD…mistake in my opinion, you should be….CD sales were probably helped along last year by the trouble with stocking vinyl and also  the price difference between the two formats…sometimes a CD is a third of the price of the lp…thats mad as well…look from where things were for the physical record shops 10/12 years ago…its great to see growth again…there was a cull of record shops back then when probably only 20% of shops survived…over 200 here in 2005 and down to 40 by 2013..UK similar…over 2000 down to less than 300 shops in 2012…last shop standing was really a thing…fingernails stuff i remember it well, running on fumes..not enjoyable…so look hopefully a period of stability ahead for us record shops with lots of cds and lps selling and a few cassettes throw in !!

Going to hand over to Shane now as he tells ye about some interesting further down the line releases …

Sound Ray, cheers!

Hey everyone! Hope ye’re all getting on ok! Definitely some interesting ones to mention this week. Biggies as well.
First up is the third album by Australian band Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. They’ve a really good summery indie sound. We all enjoyed their last two in the shop. Lots of good stuff coming from Australia in recent years. This one is called ‘Endless Rooms’ and it’s out on the 6th of May. We were only allocated a small amount of the indies yellow coloured vinyl… so as Bob and Ray say, ‘fastest fingers first’ for them here
Best to order straight from the link there if interested as emails might be missed over night/until morning.

Second up is the brand new album by RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS called ‘Unlimited Love’. It’s going to be released on April 1st. First album back with legendary guitar player John Frusciante since ‘Stadium Arcadium’ I think in the 06/07 season. They released the first single from it a few days ago and John’s playing/sound is recognizable straight away…here tis
He’s a lucky boy to be alive, like a lot of musicians down the years.
Great to see him back. We will have the indies coloured version plus other formats!

Thirdly, and another biggie, LIAM GALLAGHER‘s new solo record is coming on May 27th. ‘C’mon You Know’ it’s called. Liam has been doing well in the last few years.

and finally, two quick mentions. There’s a nice Hip-Hop compilation coming on March 18th, not too far away, with loads of big names included. It’s on limited coloured vinyl from Music on Vinyl.

And we will have vinyl copies of the debut album by Cork band ROWAN, they’ve a good sound, here’s ‘Everybody Talks’

Back to the gaffer!

Thanks Shane!

We have a few videos to share as well…Young Adam makes his debut!!

here’s last week’s:

and this weeks vid:

Right Integral for the 25th feb were to have the new SPIRITUALIZED album but its now moved to April…it turned into a dogs dinner for us as we thought we were allocated 4 copies of deluxe vers and 4 of jap vers …only to be told this week just 1 copy of each now…had to disappoint 6 people…not finding a record when someone buys it off the site and overselling are two parts of the job that bug the hell out of me…the missing record is one of those things, human error somewhere, it will happen, apologise and move on…its an error….but the overselling does my head in…give us a firm allocation, be it 1 but dont say 10 and then its 2…it leaves us exposed and you cant blame folk for being pissed off…anyway spiritualized was a dogs dinner as was slash cd boxset..sorry again to those affected.

PROPER for the 25th feb have a brand new BETH HART release on Provogue “ a tribute to Led Zeppelin” on cd, std 2lp and indies only orange 2lp…some undertaking!!

Here is “ good times, bad times” from the album…they make a fine fist of it in fairness

Beth Hart – Good Times Bad Times (A Tribute To Led Zeppelin) – YouTube

Proper also have a brand new TANGERINE DREAM album as well as the new HALF MAN HALF BISCUIT CD.

INTEGRAL for the 4th March have a reissue on London records of BRONSKI BEATS “ age of consent” , there is a brand new album from PORCHES on Domino called “ all day gentle hold!” and SOUL JAZZ records have a couple of nice releases…STUDIO ONE DUB gets reissued for the first time in 18 years ..available as an orange coloured CD and as a strictly one press only on 2lp orange vinyl with download code…lastly SOUL JAZZ reissue THE WINSTONS “ color him father” on LP and a one sided 12”…” amen brother” a track on the album is the most sampled drum break of all time..over 5000 samples…THE WINSTONS were made up from the backing bands of Otis Redding and Curtis Mayfield ( say no more nearly Raymond) and only released this one album before splitting up ( citing difficulties in america with touring due to their inter racial line up)….this lp has not been out for over 50 years and now soul jazz are putting it out…one press only again…here is “ amen brother” from THE WINSTONS

The Winstons – Amen Brother – YouTube

Sin e for this week really folks

Thanks for listening as always!

Ray, Shane and Young Adam.

The amount of records that are out of stock (i’m like a broken record here I know) is so frustrating.. We do our special orders / catalogue orders every Monday and they can take the day and more sometimes.. Our conversion rate is maybe 30 to 40%.. The rest are out of stock.. Equally frustrating, actually more frustrating for the punter as there may be stock on the big beast in the sky and are trying to support us but we keep saying ‘sorry it’s out of stock’.. The industry is a bit wonky this year to be honest.. We will try and give as good info as we can from here to Mr. Claus.. Hi-Fi Hardware was another problematic area all year but we received a good supply of REGA (the best in the biz) stock there a week or two ago, so if anyone is interested in an upgrade or starting out, give us a shout on it..

Right so we will move onto releases for the 19th of November mail.. So let’s start with Warner who have the second outing from ROBERT PLANT & ALISON KRAUSS.. Well if it comes close to the first outing it will be stunning.. ‘Raise The Roof’ is the title of the new record on Warner UK and is available as a CD, a Deluxe CD, a Double LP and an Indie Shop Only Yellow Double LP.. Just heard yesterday that the Yellow Indies version is now looking like it will be Dec 3rd before it will be with us.. The new record was produced by T Bone Burnett and has some quality musicians playing.. Bill Frisell, Buddy Miller, Russ Pahl AND Jay Bellerose to name a few.. The album is made up of obscure covers and one Plant / Burnett original, ‘High & Lonesome’, here tis :

It is one we are really looking forward to here in the siopa..I heard a story a few years back on the shop floor.. From a man, from a man, from a taxi man story so maybe a few grains of salt required.. Planty and Alison spent a few days in Timoleague here in the Rebel County a few years back, in Roy Harpers house i’m told, and local taxi man brought them back to the house and let’s just say from the account I was told they weren’t one bit worried about Covid in the back seat of the tax… More power to em!!! That’s any hope of an in-store gone I suppose Robert?? With me doubling as the showbiz reporter for the Sun…

Warner also have the vinyl release of the new TWENTY-ONE PILOTS latest record, the new JOOLS HOLLAND & FRIENDS release also out on 2LP or CD, a new score by JONSI on Krunk, a JAMES BLUNT greatest hits on 2CD, Deluxe 2CD or 2LP.. Warner also have a brand new EXODUS album as well as the first two INSPIRAL CARPETS albums reissued on indies coloured vinyl..

Lastly from Warner we will be getting copies of Meath outfit N.O.A.H’s EP ‘Echoes Of The Night’ in on vinyl very shortly.. The CDs landed a few weeks ago and the EP is making a bit of noise here and abroad, and rightfully so with some good tunes there.. Here is the single ‘Hands Up’ :

Oh re Black Friday releases.. You should see releases here on Record Store Day site.. If interested in anything shoot us back an email

I’m little disorganised and behind this week, with having been of last week and went to VILLAGERS last night in the Opera House.. Great it was btw.. First gig back pour moi.. Was lovely..

Sony for the 19th of Nov have a big big week with the release of our saviour ADELE’s new album ’30’ on CDBlack Vinyl or fairly fairly limited clear vinyl indie shop only version..

BRUCE is back also on the 19th of Nov with the ‘Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concert’ as a 2CD/DVD, 2CD/BluRay or 3LP Vinyl.. Here’s a trailer to the concert.. It looks only savage to be fair..

Speaking of legendary, the one and only CHRISTY MOORE has a new record out on the 19th of Nov also.. It’s title is ‘Flying Into Mystery‘.. Brand new studio album from Christy.. Poignant lead track considering the crisis we all face with climate change.. Here is ‘Clock Winds Down’ from the upcoming album.. Good on ya Christy.. Beautiful artwork actually also on the Lp and CD…

So Sony have 3 massive releases for the 19th.. The books are open folks.. Tá an leabhair ar oscailt duine go léir …

Integral for the 19th of Nov have a DAVID SYLVAIN Photography Book.. There is a DAWES 10th Anniversary reissue of ‘Nothing Is Wrong’, a couple of JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE reissues on coloured vinyl via New West, as well as reissues from THE NUDE PARTY and POKEY LA FARGE..

Integral for the 26th of Nov have the 10th Anniversary reissue of FIONN REGAN’s ‘100 Acres Of Sycamore‘… Beautiful album.. There was talk of cuts on this one but we hope to cover who asked for it.. The album is out via Heavenly… Rough Trade have a couple of ARTHUR RUSELLL LP reissues ‘Iowa Dream’ and ‘World Of Echo’.. Rough Trade also have JARV IS ‘Remixed’, a remix of ‘Beyond The Pale’ album.. New RICHARD DAWSON & CIRCLE album also..

The Orchard via Big Brother Recordings have the OASIS ‘Knebworth 1996’ physical formats.. 25 years ago.. I was working in GD on Patrick Street at the time and the two bucks strolled into the shop, had a quick look and left again.. Not the tallest lads in the world now to be far… Saw them over two nights down the Pairc back then as well.. Very enjoyable to be fair.. What a track list on this live album.. Plenty of Physical formats here

Cooking Vinyl have the brand new THE DARKNESS album ‘Motoheart’ on CD, Deluxe CD and LP.. They also have brand new DEAP VALLEY album out on the 19th of Nov ‘Marriage’.. Lastly from the Orchard for the 19th is Volume 5 in LUCINDA WILLIAMS Jukebox Series… ‘Have Yourself A Rockin Little Christmas’.. CD or Vinyl... Sorry sorry nearly forgot there is a PRIMAL SCREAM ‘Live At Levitation’ blue and yellow swirl vinyl releases also..

Will pass you over to the Bob Man now to run through a few down the road announcements..

Thanks Boss-Man, welcome back. Howdy folks.
Kicking us off this week on the down the road bits, we’ll have to start with the brilliant ‘101’ reissues by DEPECHE MODE. Cracking cracking live album. The updated versions due out are lovely. There is a expanded BluRay or 2DVD of the documentary with a few extra bits added in, and there is a lovely 2CD/2DVD/BluRay Box Set also. Have never seen the documentary myself, will have to give it a watch! This is due out on December 3rd.

Next up we’ll go with the next EDDIE PILLER release just announced, with ‘Eddie Piller Presents British Mod Sounds of the 1960s’. A savage collection of tracks. 100 tracks on the boxsets, 34 tracks on the 2LP vinyl formats. So with this one, we will have a 4CD Boxset, an Indies Only 6LP Clear Vinyl Boxset, a really limited 6LP Black Vinyl with Signed Exclusive Print Boxset, the standard 2LP Vinyl, and an indies only red / blue 2LP vinyl. February 2022 for this one.

There is a nice new Irish release due into us in February 2022, with the new album from TELEFÍS, entitled ‘a hAon’. Telefis is a new project from the legends that are Cathal Coughlan and Jacknife Lee. Will no doubt be an interesting listen that we’re very excited for. It’s coming on CD or LP, and here is ‘Mister Imperator’ from the album

Gonna fly through the rest of these fairly quickly, ENYA has an anniversary picture disc release of ‘It May Be’, which was a track recorded for the Lord Of The Rings soundtrack 20 years ago now. There is a reissue on green vinyl coming of BLACK CROWES ‘Before The Frost… Until The Freeze’, and there is a coloured limited compilation vinyl record release due from FRANZ FERDINAND ‘Hits To The Head’, pressed on red vinyl.

Fastest fingers first jobs with these last two i’m afraid. SPIRITUALIZED have a new album just announced, ‘Everything Was Beautiful’ is the title. With this one the CD stock and standard LP stock are okay, but there is a Deluxe Indies Pink Vinyl, and a Japanese Edition vinyl which stock is very tight on both. There is also a nice reissue of SAINT ETIENNE’s classic ‘Foxbase Alpha’ pressed on green vinyl released for the 30th Anniversary. Again stock is very tight on this with allocations, so for both these releases safest bet is through the site as they may be sold out before we see an email.

That’s it from mise for this week folks, back to the boss-man!

Thanks Bob!
Right so Universal for the 19th of November have a brand new studio album by ELBOW ‘Flying Dream 1’ as CD, Standard LP or Indies / HMV Exclusive green vinyl version.. Haven’t heard any of this one yet.. Looking forward to it..

Warner also has a brand new album by BIFFY CLYRO ‘The Myth of The Happily Ever After’ on CD or Red Vinyl / CD set, and also there is a limited 10” EP from Biffy, ‘Errors In The History Of God’.. The last Biffy album was excellent.. Really good.. If it passed you by, well worth spending a bit of time with it.. So really looking forward to this release.. Here is a video of the two lead singles from the new record ‘A Hunger In Your Haunt / Unknown Male 01’

Provogue have a reissue of BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION’s ‘BCCIV’ on 2LP. BMG have a reissue of tenor sax BOOKER ERVIN’s debut album from 1961, ‘The Book Cooks’.. Influential album.. The EP was released between debut and second albums.. I have emailed trying to get numbers on the Slayers…

Republic of Music for the 22nd of October have the brand new and 4th studio album by GLASVEGAS called ‘Godspeed’ on indies green vinyl.. It seems like a vinyl release only.. Madness in my opinion.. Why alienate physical CD buyers?? If it costs a label €2 to send a CD to a shop it costs them a lot.. Do a run of 500 CDs anyway.. Probably make 3k profit on 500 CDs.. So it alienates and makes no business sense Either.. I could be wrong and the maybe the CD is out further down the line.. I don’t get it if there is none produced though.. Same thing with a download code.. They seem to be becoming less and less.. More madness. It should be given if you buy a vinyl record… Give the bloody code… The LPs are dear enough.. The amount of folk who walk away form the vinyl because here is no code is a 3/4 people a week.. Listen to the frontline.. Codes are important.. More and more we need to see, not less and less.. Again it does not make sense to me.. Some of the 3/4 a week will buy CD.. Others will just leave it altogether… No good for us or for the record company..

ROM also have THE STOOGES ‘Live At Whiskey A Gogo‘ and PINK FLOYD in Jazz tribute album..

Integral for the 22nd of Oct have a 7” by IDLES, as well as brand new albums by MY MORNING JACKET and PARQUET COURTS..

There are 7 bonus tracks.. CD or Coloured vinyl on this one.. Dead Oceans release KHRUANGBIN ‘Mordechai Remixes’.. We all love the studio album here in the shop so looking forward to this one.. Bella Union have the new MARISSA NADLER album ‘The Path Of The Clouds’ on CD, or 180GM White Vinyl with download code.. Yipee for Bella Union.. All together now.. Hip hip.. Hip hip… And there is a nice special version for indie shops.. 180gm silver and white vinyl, with a 12 x 12” print and the code! Here is ‘If I Could Breathe Underwater’ from the new album

Warp have a brand new album by NIGHTMARES ON WAX for the 29th.. It’s on CD, standard vinyl and indies only blue vinyl… Here is ‘Own Me’
I’m gonna mention it in future when I see a code with it so there is a cod with the N.O.W. album also.. There is a nice Act Jazz Compilation on CD also.. Nice list of great artists.. The Spirit of Jazz is the title.. Lastly from Integral, Soul Jazz Records Presents : CUBA – Music and Revolution : Culture Clash in Havana Experiments In Latin Music 1975-1985 Vol. 2.. Compiled by Gilles Peterson and Stuart Baker.. It is on 2CD or 3LPs..

I’ll hand you over to the Bob Man now who will run through up and coming releases

Hey folks,
Quieter from me this week, I’d say the week of OOct 22nd / Oct 29th which are linked for the site this week are the busiest of the year (definitely the busiest so far for the year anyway, we’ll see how November shapes up!), which eats into time at getting down the road releases programmed. A nice one none the less is the new PAUL WELLER release coming via Universal for December 3rd. It is ‘Paul Weller with Jules Buckley & the BBC Symphony Orchestra – An Orchestrated Songbook’, a live concert from Weller captured in May 2021, performing hits from The Jam, The Style Council and solo material with a full orchestra. No vinyl yet on this but it lands in December on standard CD or as a deluxe CD house in a hardback book.

Quick note also on THE WAR ON DRUGS new record ‘I Don’t Live Here Anymore‘. There has been another vinyl added, with a nice red exclusive vinyl landing now with a few of the indie shops in the country. So now there is CDStandard Black Vinyl, Indies Blue Vinyl or this new Exclusive Red Vinyl. All formats enter you into the competition to win a pair of tickets to the April 2022 show in the 3Arena in Dublin

JOOLS HOLLAND has a new album out in November via Warner, entitled : PIANOLA : PIANO & FRIENDS. It’s a collection of piano tracks that have inspired Mr. Holland and features guests such as David Gilmour, Gregory Porter, Joe Bonamassa, Rick Wakeman and more. Coming on November 19th on CD or 2LP Vinyl.

Finally from mise for this week, fresh from the press and only announced in the last hour or so is the next in the live series from CAN, this time ‘Live in Brighton 1975’. Extremely well remastered live albums all from original tapes by all accounts with this series. This one is coming on CD or as a limited gold 2LP Vinyl on Dec 3rd

That’s it from me folks, hopefully will have a few more next week for ye. Back to the bossman!

Thanks Bob!
Universal for the 22nd of Oct have ELTON JOHN’s ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ on CD and LP.. THE ROLLING STONES have the deluxe versions of TATTOO YOU out.. Formats are CD minipack, 1LP Standard Black (Mick cover), 2LP 180gm double deluxe vinyl, 4CD Boxset and lastly the 5LP boxset.. LANA DEL REY has a brand new album ‘Blue Banisters’ on CD and LP.. Here is ‘Arcadia’ from the album

Uni also have the OST to ‘The French Despatch’ movie and JARVIS COCKER ‘Chansons d’Ennui Tip Top’ which is a new album and a nod, tip of his hat to French pop music..

Sin é really for this week folks
Thanks for listening as always

Hi everyone,

Hope all is well enough.. Well remind me to not to come to these pages if i’m looking for a kidney… Ticketless.. And then humbled.. Beat out the gate with our Cork cockiness in town… Some outfit Luimneach..  Brought us down to earth fair lively.. And we also have a huge release for the 3rd of September.. A collaboration album between MICK FLANNERY and Irish newcomer SUSAN O’NEILL (SON), entitled ‘In The Game’..  It’s available on CD and LP via the duo’s own label.. Self released original quality Irish album, I have had the pleasure of the album for the last week or so and it’s a beautiful record… The songs are based upon a couple meeting, falling in love, and then the demis of the relationship and all the hurt and pain that come with it.. The two artists play their parts excellently, it’s really well written (kind of expect no more when Mick’s involved to be fair).. Vocally it is just stunning and there is a lovely tone and texture to the whole album.. The pair go from spitting fire at one another in ‘Are We Free’ to the tenderness of Susan O Neill’s ‘Miss Me When I’m Gone’.. Here is ‘Trouble’ from the album.. More on it next week or maybe later..

Universal for the 10th of September have the deluxe reissue of METALLICA’s self titled album or ‘The Black Album’.. Remastered as a 1CDLimited 3CD Digipack ExpandedLimited 180gm 2LP and a really limited and numbered deluxe box set which we have been allocated a number on.. We have 4 box sets left as I write this.. Obviously one of the biggest and most successful albums of all time in music.. Not alone rock music.. 35 Million copies of this album sold already.. 35 Million.. The box set has class content.. We are doing a special price on it also if any left price will revert to €275.. The set includes the album remastered on 2LP 180gm Vinyl and CD, ‘Sad But True’ picture disc, three live LPs, 14CDs and 6DVDs featuring unreleased content (live shows, rough mixes, demos etc).. Downloads for all audio, four tour laminates, lanyard, three lithos, three guitar picks, lyric folder and sheets and a 120 page hardcover book.. Fine price I know but a fine set in fairness..

JOHN BLEK released his second single from the new album ‘On Ether & Air’ in the last few days and what an uplifting beauty of a song it is, ‘Cormorant’… The opening verse or two sets up the story and as we leave the chorus a few piano keys and Davy’s drums increases the tempo of the song and we are off.. On that trawler with the main character we are.. Trawling the sea for fish.. All good songs do that.. Take you somewhere else.. This for me is as fine a song as John has created.. Here it is.. Well worth a listen (budget a bit tight on d’video i’d say, well well worth a listen)

John’s new album is out on Friday September 10th and we have 3 separate in-stores then on Saturday the 11th, with support from LEWIS BARFOOT for 2 of them.. Bob will show the science of getting in those album launch performances.. Limited numbers.. Offering 2 to 5 % discount on a purchase for the shows also.. or whatever I said 20% was it??? Right over to Bobby again now for some announcements.. Thick and fast they are this weather..

Hey folks, hope you are all keeping safe and well.
A serious amount of releases announced in the last week. Santa Season won’t be long coming around it feels. Only managed to get through half i’d say of the announcements so will be a busy few weeks with it! Few biggies there today nonetheless

I suppose there is only one place to start.. THE ROLLING STONES 40th Anniversary reissue of ‘Tattoo You’. Really sad news yesterday of the death of the legend, icon and one of the best drummers to have graced this planet Mr. Charlie Watts. Like everyone, reading just excellent stories of the man since the news broke. One of my favourites, after a few gargles Jagger rang demanding ‘Where is my drummer?’. Watts late at night has a shave, gets fully dressed into a suit, walks to Jagger’s room, proceeds to give him a few punches and shouts ‘Don’t ever call me your drummer, you are MY singer.’ Excellent. Truly excellent. A sad sad day for rock music, and the overall music work. R.I.P Charlie Watts.

With the reissue, there are a host of formats coming, all featuring a new 2021 Remaster of the cracking album. There is a 1CD reissuea 2CD featuring bonus rare material, a standard 1LP Vinyl reissuea Deluxe 2LP reissue featuring bonus rare material. The Super Deluxe formats come as a 4CD / 1LP Picture Disc (CDs here feature the remastered album, rare and bonus material and a live album from Wembley in 1982). There is also a Super Deluxe 5LP Limited Set with the same material.

Some other really nice releases announced in the last week include a 2CD or 2LP Vinyl release of NEIL YOUNG’s ‘Carnegie Hall’ 1970 show, with this show having never been released or heard before. There is a savage NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDs release with ‘B-Sides & Rarities’ being re-released and including a few new formats. The album has now been expanded to ‘Part 1 : 1988 – 2005’ and ‘Part 2 : 2006-2020’. Part 1 is reissued as a 3CD, and the new Part 2 will be released as a 2CDDeluxe 2CD, or standalone 2LP. There is also a lovely ‘Part 1 : 1988 – 2005’ & ‘Part 2 : 2006-2020’ Deluxe 7LP Set. This set will be the first time Part 1 has been pressed on vinyl.

There is a new MOTORHEAD compilation album announced, ‘Everything Louder Forever : The Very Best Of’. This is coming as a 2CD2LP or Deluxe 4LP Fold Out Cover Edition, and is the first best of that will contain Motorhead’s full career. EAGLES have announced that their live album ‘Live From The Forum 76’ will get pressed on vinyl for the first time, and finally on the future releases for this week is the announcement of ED SHEERAN’s brand new studio album ‘=’. This one is coming as a CDVinyl or Indies Exclusive White Vinyl. Quite a bit today, and more  to come for sure over the next few weeks!

Oh apologies folks, there is one more but we are not putting on the site as of now as we are not 100% sure if we will get the stock or not, but it is a nice one so we said we’d mention it. We have asked for 4 copies of a new BREAKING BAD (Music From The Original TV Series) 5 x 10” Coloured Vinyl Record Box Set coming via Music on Vinyl. The set will be 120EUR, and there is only 400 being pressed. Hence we don’t know if we will get them yet! So if you are interested, pop us a mail, and we will note the interest, and if we get lucky and manage to get a few copies we will let you know. We can’t guarantee but will communicate if we run into stock issues and do not get any. Here is a bit of info on the set :

Right so that is it from me this time, back to the boss-man!
Thanks Bob!
The Orchard for the 10th of September have the SPIRITUALIZED reissue of ‘Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space’.. Great album.. We were only allocated 5 copies and were sold before we even had a chance to sell them.. Frustrating from a retailer’s point of view when you could sell 25/30 copies.. If anyone wants to go on the list for the repress let us know sher.. CD available alright.. Nice reissue on vinyl of RYAN SHERIDAN’s ‘The Day You Live Forever’ limited gold vinyl coming via Rubyworks on the 10th.. There is also a brand new STEVE HACKETT album on Inside Out ‘Surrender of Silence’ on CD, 2CD or 2LP/DC version also..

Lastly VAN & ERIC CLAPTON are together for a charity single.. The song is called ‘Mask / No Mask’ and Ian Brown plays harmonica on it… No he doesn’t! And that’s not the name of the song either… The proceeds of the song are going to Van’s charity for out of work musicians and you can’t argue with that no matter what your beliefs are..

Integral for the 10th of September have great new albums by AMYL & THE SNIFFERSCID RIMMATTHEW E. WHITE, SAINT ETIENNEPOKEY LAFARGE and the LOW new one of course..

Also we have a solo album due in from BOY ONE (aka Brian Foley.. bassist with The Blades).. The album is entitled ‘Calm Before The Storm‘ :
The recording of the album ‘CALM BEFORE THE STORM’ was very much a stop start affair interspersed by lockdowns, restricted travel and social distancing. Strange times indeed. However most of the songs were written before Covid reared its ugly head and so a variety of topics are tackled; White collar crime, Regrets late in life, Loneliness, Domestic violence. On the whole though the album is an optimistic affair sprinkled with its share of love songs..glam rock, summer love songs.. piano ballads.. All in all a rich tapestry of pop gems.
Brian sent us a copy of the new single ‘Broken Skies’ but unfortunately we are struggling to get it to link to the newsletter… But it is a damn fine tune… We are looking forward to hearing the full album

Deutsche Grammophon have a VIKINGUR OLAFSSON release ‘Mozart & Contemporaries’ 2LP clear vinyl..  New one from TRNA on Candlelight also..

Lastly from Warner for the 3rd of Sept via BMG is the 4th collaborative album between F.S. BLUMM and NILS FRAHM.. Sorry brand new RUDIMENTAL album also out on the 3rd..

I saw on Twitter that THE MURDER CAPITAL tweeted on Monday that it was 2 years since album 1, and 2 very soon.. Got me thinking.. TMC album launch was 15th of August 2019, with a lot of us in the Crane for it.. Special night (ask Young Adam.. We snuck him into the gig as ‘Music Zone Staff’ as he was underage and he was with us for the spine tingling sound check).. Great night altogether.. Will live long in the memory.. Had a few pints with friends in the Hi B after and a bit of  a sing song inside.. 15 days later and the shopping centre in Douglas was nearly burnt to the ground and our business evaporated with it.. (Small fry in the scheme of things and with hindsight, but at the time t’was stressful).. Life throws shit, that’s what it does.. A couple of sound sound members of our community have had shit thrown at them lately and have fights to face… Nothing but well wishes and love from us for them.. They have this.. As Knopfler and Emmylou said ‘there should be laughter after pain.. There should be sunshine after rain’… Chins in the air gents, ye have this xxx

Sony for the 3rd of September really (bar Pearl Jam which is sold out) have MARTIN GORE’s ‘Counterfeit EP’.. The Manic’s album which I am excited about (did I read Nicky Wire refer to it as the Manic’s ‘Pop’ album!) is moved to 10th Sept..

Oh another special Irish release I nearly forgot about.. PADDY CASEY has a new album.. I’d really like Paddy, seen him quite a few times.. Album 5 i think (maybe 6)… The album is called ‘Turn This Ship Around’ and here is the title track for your enjoyment..
There is 22 songs on the album.. Paddy is a seriously talented dude…

Hey folks,
Hope you are all keeping safe and well this week!
Kicking us off this week for a few pre-order bits down the line is the announcement of the highly anticipated new record by ROBERT PLANT & ALISON KRAUSS, entitled ‘Raise The Roof’. What an album is their debut ‘Raising Sand’ from back in 2007 I believe. Six Grammys. Didn’t really think that there would ever be a second outing in the pipeline but here we are. New single ‘Can’t Let Go’ picks up right where the last album ended. It’s great. Two great voices. Four formats on this one, two very expensive formats unfortunately. There is a CDDeluxe CDStandard Vinyl and Indies Exclusive Yellow Vinyl. Apologies on the vinyl prices.

Two nice ones announced just today via PIAS. GARY NUMAN’s fifth studio album ‘Warriors’ has just been announced for a limited orange vinyl reissue due at the end of September, and they have also announced a brand new PARQUET COURTS record ‘Sympathy For Life’, which is coming as a CDVinylIndies Green Vinyl or a Limited Deluxe Vinyl. This one is due for release late October.

Proper via Demon Records have two ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN reissues due also in October. 2001’s ‘Flowers’ is reissued on white vinyl, and 2005’s ‘Siberia’ is pressed as a 2LP Clear Vinyl, both limited and both long out of print records.

That’s it from mise for this week
Back to the boss-man!

Thanks Bob!!

Right Orchard for the 3rd of September have the 2CD reissue of the incredible WHIPPING BOY album ‘Heartworm’.. The 10 x LPs we were allocated are long gone.. But we are taking names for the Nov 26th reissue now.. So throw us your name if you want a vinyl copy.. Orchard also have a reissue of BEHEMOTH’s ‘Sventevith’ on various formats..

One last note folks.. We are running a bit tight on mailers and waiting for an order to land in to us.. If anyone who happens to be calling into the shop in the next 3 or 4 days happened to have any spare vinyl shipping mailers lying around at home, we’d happily take them from you if they weren’t needed. Would get us out of jail for the weekend..

Right sin é sin é for this week.. Got a bit carried away.. I missed ye so much I reckon..
Thanks for listening,
Ray, Bobby & Shane,
P.S… The aul tickets thing is still hoped for… Just saying… Hope.. I know.. Like our chances (hmm… do I mean that?)..
The horse is going full pelt already!

Joni Mitchell ‘Reprise Albums (1968-1971)’ Box Sets, A Much Anticipated Debut Record 1

Hi everyone,
Hope ye’r all well and the form is good.. Another day in the warehouse… Could be worse.. I’m always grumbling lately (cabin fever i’d say) but really hoping we can call & collect in a few weeks time.. Anyways, could be worse says the cranky man..

RSD.. Record Store Day Drop 1 is happening on the 12th of June and Drop 2 is on the 17th of July.. I will run through some guidelines / rules in case ye’r new to it all.. Some of ye have read this about 10 times before… It is our 10th year involved in RSD now.. It was conceived in 2007 I think, 2012 was our first venture and we have had some mighty days in-between filled with wine, song, wine and even more songs, not too mention a few few records moving out the dóras.. It has a few flaws (RSD) but for the good siopa it is a special and important day… Don’t know what the situation will be by the 12th of June but I do know I need to place my orders by noon on April 30th, so I need wishlists in by 6PM on Wednesday the 28th of April please..

Right so, I can’t keep anything for anyone.. I can’t hold anything for anyone.. You can’t pre-order it.. Basically I can’t guarantee anything (tis against the rules).. I can’t sell 2 of the same record to the one human being or the one human being and his feline either for that matter…

But if you are interest in something(s) then it would be great if you emailed in a wishlist of what you hope for and by doing that it allows me to fight for more of a certain record than maybe another.. By sending the wishlist you have a much greater chance of securing the record… I will also communicate problems / allocations / etc to the folks that wish list.. So if for example I have 6 folks wish lists for a record and i’m only getting 3 copies, then I will email ye and tell ye that at least 6 are looking and we only got 3, so set the alarm i’d say.. Wishlist is good and NB from our end… So don’t be afraid of it folks!! You’ll be dead long enough and sher what else do ye have to spend yer dollars on!! We still only have pricing on about half the releases but Bobby will send what we have under here and send the rest next week.. 28th April deadline so 2 weeks.. We have all the pricing by next week I hope.. Here are the lists we have so far..

Right so sin sin for RSD for this week.. Although no Bowie, no Bowie the forgotten man of music, the people just don’t get him??? Or will there be a grand late entrance I wonder??

Video from last week is now up here..

A special mention must be given to EMPEROR OF ICECREAM EP Collection 93-94 CD release this Friday.. Limited release edition of only 200 copies of this and it is a compilation of the first 3 EPs from the 93/94 period.. Lockdown has thrown a few nice surprises our ways also and Emperors music is one of those surprises.. The rumour mill has it that the lads have a lot of good new material written also so exciting times ahead and maybe even a brand new album at some point later this year!!!

So onto releases for the 23rd of April we have the deluxe reissues of JOHN LENNON’s ‘Plastic Ono Band’ and THE WHO’s ‘The Who Sells Out’, as well as new releases by DINOSAUR JRIMELDA MAYFIELD MUSICTOM JONES, MOTORHEAD, FLOWERED UPTOUMANI DIABATE & THE LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRAPETER FRAMPTON and ZARA LARSSON… We will have reissues by THE SELECTERSPIRITUALIZED, SOUL JAZZ RECORDS PRESENTS STUDIO ONE ROOTS, SKINDREDMORSE / PORTNOY / GEORGE, and a MARS VOLTA 18LP box.. On the CD front there is a 2CD version of EMMYLOU’s ‘Wrecking Ball’.

You will notice price increases on some Universal vinyl over the next few weeks and months.. Horrible price increases in the region of 30, 40 and 50% increases.. I will have more on this in the coming weeks but it ain’t pretty.. (I have a lot to say on it but for another time.. I’m not sure how many industries would drop those kind of increases on their customer and think it’s cool).. Records in March that cost me 12 Euro plus VAT… Some of them are now costing me 18 Euro plus VAT.. As I said I have a lot to say on it but for another day..

Warner for the 30th of April have the GARY MOORE unnreleased songs album ‘How Blue Can You Get’ on Provogue.. There is a new GOJIRA album on Roadrunner, brand new BIRDY album ‘Young Heart’ also.. Here is ‘Surrender’ from it, it is out on East/West Records..

Lastly from ROM for the 30th Of April is the new album by THE CORAL on 2CD and Indies Only LP… ‘Coral Island’ it is called...

PIAS for the 30th of April have releases by DROPKICK MURPHYS, ADRIAN CROWLEY, WOLLNY / PARISIEN / LEFEDURF / LILLINGER and also a few coloured CAN reissues..

Starting off there is a lovely JONI MITCHELL box set coming in June, called ‘The Reprise Albums (1968-1971). It is released as a 4CD or 4LP Box Set, and is released to mark the 50th Anniversary of the classic album ‘Blue’, which has been out of print for the last 6-12 months on vinyl. It features remaster versions of ‘Blue’, and the three excellent previous albums ‘Song To A Seagull’, ‘Clouds’, and ‘Ladies of the Canyon’.

Also announced on the box set front is the next in the BLACK SABBATH ‘Super Deluxe’ Series, this time with 1975’s ‘Sabotage’. It is coming as a 4CD set, or a 4LP & 7” set. It has the original album remaster, a full live show from 1975, and a Japanese Radio Show single.

There is a new 12” Picture Disc Vinyl reissue of BOWIE’s ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ just announced for release on May 28th, looks class!

A few other nice bits announced over the last week include a 20th Anniversary Edition remaster of THE SHINS ‘Oh Inverted World’ through Subpop. The CD and Cassette are due in June, both standard vinyl and indie vinyl formats to follow in July. Again, we apologise but only allocated 2 copies of the Indies Only LP, so again fastest fingers first on this release. There is also a new album announced by THE WALLFLOWERS. New John Grant & Black Midi, CSNY ‘Deja Vu’ Box, and A Special Declan O’Rourke Competition

Hi everyone,
Hope ye are all safe and well and in good enough form… Keep at it.. Not so hopeful of call/click and collect now for April 5th to be honest, but let’s see where the ball breaks i suppose first… I sense fatigue with out customers and it is damaging for a small business when folks asks for call and collect and we say we can’t… Sorry… And we lose the sale.. But we have always followed guidelines / laws / instructions on it and will continue to do so.. Let’s see where the ball bounces sher, 24 deaths I think yesterday, horrible curse of a thing.. Website open and we are on the phone everyday 021-4967119.. Sin sin with that for now…

I must give special mention to the new CATHAL COUGHLAN record… It’s really good.. Here’s the latest single ‘The Knockout Artist’.. I love the track after it on the album also.. Packed with fine songs to be honest..
FOR THOSE I LOVE also is another fine record.. Here is Birthday / The Pain.. another class tune.. Also out on the 26th

Maybe it’s my green, white and gold tinted glasses but I think there is some savage talent on the Irish Music Scene.. If you have a spare 50 minutes some night Coughlan’s Live Music Venue recorded some of their intimate shows from last Nov / early Dec and the quality on it is unreal.. The likes of Mary Coughlan, Paul Noonan (Bell X1), Lisa Hannigan, Mick Flannery, and may more.. It’s excellent.. Here it is if you would like to watch it.. ‘Behind Closed Doors’ :

A reminder also for our John Spillane competition running for anyone who pre-orders the album with us… Here is the info again

JOHN SPILLANE is set to release his first independent album in 20 years.100 Snow White Horses comes out on April 2nd. In celebration of that, we are running a competition to win: a signed Vinyl copy and signed CD of 100 Snow White Horses, a signed copy of John’s album Acoustic Series Vol.1 All The Ways you Wander, and a signed copy of his book, ‘Are We Brilliant or What’. To enter, pre-order the brand new album with us on Vinyl or CD and you will be entered into the draw! Recorded in London with Pauline Scanlon and produced by John Reynolds the album is inspired by John’s travels around Ireland. The decision to release the album independently allowed for a greater sense of creative freedom and these new songs are full of poetry, Irish mythology and wonder

Also here is the video from last week folks.. Congrats to the winner of the signed WYVERN LINGO competition!

Right so moving onto releases for Friday the 9th of April… East / West, an arm of Warner Music in the UK releases the new DECLAN O’ROURKE record ‘Arrivals’ on CD and Long Player.. I have had the great pleasure of listening to the album over the last few days and it’s a beautiful listen.. Vocally tops, great acoustic guitar work all through with the intermittent splashes of piano and strings.. Beautiful all through.. But the strongest thing about the record is the songs.. They really stand up and engage you from start to finish.. I think this album could catapult Declan to his rightful place, oh and btw it was produced (the record) by some fella called Paul Weller.. Saw a little interview of the two meant together and there seems a genuine fondness between them.. Show’s the esteem Weller holds Declan in to produce or co-produce as Weller says.. Fine listen folks, honestly.. Here is the title track ‘Arrivals’, great tune

We have a lovely competition around pre-orders of the album with Declan and Warner.. Declan played in the good siopa a few years ago, here’s a look at it if interested.. It was 10th of December 2016, over four years ago now!!

Anyways, back to the competition.. Pre-order the new album on CD or Vinyl with us and enter a draw to win one of 3 separate prizes..
3rd Prize : A Signed CD copy of the new album ‘Arrivals’ by Declan
2nd Prize : A Signed Vinyl copy of the new album ‘Arrivals’ by Declan
1st Prize : A great prize for Dec fans.. A Virtual Meet & Greet with the man himself where the winner / winners household can have a chat with Declan.. I suppose ye can ask him how is Andy doing?? What kind of tiles he has in his kitchenettes or what ye’r man who produced the album is like?? Declan will also perform a song from the album for the winner on the virtual meet and greet.. A lovely prize.. Thanks a million to Declan for the prizes..

To enter, simply pre-order the new record ‘Arrivals’ from us.. Sin sin.. It’s an excellent album folks by a great songwriter / storyteller.

Right so, Warner also for the 9th of April have a reissue of the brilliant self titled IBRAHIM FERRER album on BMG with the Buena Vista Social Club for music company on the album.. If you don’t know it i’s class.. Here is Silenco from the album..

Another sweet release from Warner for the 9th of April is the RHIANNON GIDDENS album with Italian multi-instrumentalist FRANCESCO TURRISI.. The album is called ‘Their Calling Me Home’, and is made up over covers mainly.. It’s released on Nonesuch, both these musicians are Irish based now so if someone can tell us the beach in the video for ‘Water Bound’ is shot on we’d be happy out… It’s somewhere on our shores!!

Lastly, one of note from Warner for the 9th of April is the reissue on limited red vinyl on Nonesuch also of musical pioneer LAURIE ANDERSON’s ‘Big Science’ album... First reissue in over 30 years..

Universal for the 9th of April have the TAYLOR SWIFT ‘Fearless : Taylor’s Version.. 2CD version of 26 songs including 6 completely unreleased tracks.. Taylor said she had loads of some she adored at the time and didn’t make the album so here they are on Taylor’s version.. FLYTE’s second album is released on Island also on April 9th on CD or indies only blue vinyl, called ‘This Is Really Going To Hurt’.. MAX RICHTER has ‘Voices 2’ on Decca on CD and LP.ARIANA GRANDE has the vinyl release of her latest album ‘Positions’ also on Island.. This is a limited coke bottle green vinyl..

Uni also have a SARAH JAROSZ reissue ‘Build Me Up From Bones’ on Concord.. I must admit this musician passed me by a little bit until i heard with John Smith on a song from his new album ‘The Fray’.. She is class.. I suppose 3 Grammys in the bag Raymond, what did you expect.. Anyway’s here is the title track from the forthcoming reissue

Bluenote through Uni have a reissue on the 9th of April of ART BLAKEY & THE JAZZ MESSENGER’s ‘Moanin’ on LP.. It’s an All Analogue reissue.. Lastly from Uni for the 9th of April on Mercury is LYNYRD SKYNYRD ‘Live at Knebworth 1976’ on CD/DVD combo, BluRay/CD combo (both these in a CD sized box) and also a DVD/2LP Combo pack..

Sony for the 9th of April have the new LONDON GRAMMAR album ‘California Soil’ on CD, Indies Only Vinyl, Standard Vinyl and  fairly limited box set.. We have 3 left of that.. Great voice, great sound.. Here’s ‘Lose Your Head’ from the album :

I’ll hand ye folks over to Bobby now who will run through some interesting further down the road releases.. A few beauts announced recently if memory serves me right.. Just on the JOHN GRANT one… The boxset we have been allocated one copy of it.. It’s super limited, really is.. Fairest way (ohh it’s expensive also!!) is a game of fastest fingers so will pop it on the site and who (if anyone) wants it they can buy it from there… An email could easily be missed so site is the fairest way.. Right here is the Bob-Man..

Hey folks,
Few nice bits today! As ray mentioned there is a new JOHN GRANT album ‘Boy From Michigan’ after being announced (only this morning I believe), on a few formats. There is CDVinylLimited Edition Deluxe ‘O-Card’ Vinyl, and as Ray mentioned the very very limited Box Set. This one is set for release on June 15th, looking forward to it!

Also announced this week is the new BLACK MIDI album ‘Cavalcade’. A few formats again on this one, with CDCassetteVinyl and Limited Picture Disc Vinyl. For the vinyl pre-orders of the new album, there will be a free flexi disc given out with the first pre-orders while stock lasts (still not sure how many we will be getting!). There flexi will be a cover song by the band, which fans will vote for through the band’s website, a nice one! This is due out May 28th. There is also a new BLACK MIDI 12” now up for pre-order on the website

The cracking ‘Déjà Vu’ by CSNY is due to be reissued as a 4CD / Vinyl boxset in May. It will feature the original album on CD and Vinyl, and a host of unreleased and rare recordings spread across 3 bonus CDs. An album that seems to have been out of print for quite some time, a true classic.

Finally from me for this week is a new MARS VOLTA 18LP boxset coming through Warner in late April, called ‘La Realidad De Los Sueños’.

That’s all from myself for this week!
Back to the bossman!

Thanks a million Bob,
The Orchard for the 9th of April have a remix album of the new ORB album and also NICO’s ‘BBC Sessions 1971’.. It’s really saucy for a 4 track but Tearbox the label say it’s a really quality pressing..

PIAS for the 16th of April have the reissue on Gold Vinyl 3LP of GOLDIE’s ‘Timeless : 25th Anniversary’ Edition, also on 3CD.. They also have AVISHAI COHEN’s ‘Two Roses’ on Believe Records…
Sin é for this week folks,
Keep at it,
Thanks for listening
Ray, Bobby & Shane

The White Stripes Finally Lands, New Dinosaur Jr, And One Busy Drummer!

Hi everyone,
Hope all is well enough.. Keep going folks, keep going.. What a 12 months it’s been.. What an 18 months for us.. Settled days ahead hopefully.. Looks like ‘call & collect / click & collect’ is another 3 or 4 weeks away… Sorry… Far from ideal for any of us.. I never thought i’d look forward to seeing such (mainly) unattractive heads again… But I can’t wait… It’s not about the cover of the book I suppose.. Anyway, enough customer (who feed your family and help keep your yachts clean) mocking for one day, here’ is what’s out this Friday the 26th of Feb..

All proceeds of the album are for Aware Ireland.. It really is a lovely listen.. Here’s a link to Anna Mitchell performing Beth Gibbons & Paul Webbs ‘Funny Time Of Year’ from the album..

Really enjoying the WYVERN LINGO record… It really has grown on me nicely… Anyone who buys or orders the CD or LP from us in the next week will be entered into a draw for an exclusive signed Long Player by the 3 members of the band.. Here is the lead single ‘Rapture’ from the brand new album ‘Awake You Lie’ :

Also some unbelievable trivia about the 50th Anniversary Edition of CAROLE KING’s ‘Tapestry’… 50 Years ago today (let’s say today for Hollywood effect), Carole King was recording ‘TAPestry’ in Studio B of A&M Recording Studios in LA… Next door (howya) JONI MITCHELL was making ‘Blue’ (lightning twice springs to mind!!) and at a studio down the road JAMES TAYLOR was recoding ‘Mud Slide Slim’.. A guy by the name of RUSS KUNKEL played drums on all 3 records! ‘I’m just going for a smoke Joni, i’ll bring my sticks’.. ‘I’m just going to the shop Joni, I’ll bring my sticks’.. Jaysus what quality!!

Myself and Bobby were doing a bit in Live at St Lukes at some Mick Flannery gigs a few years ago now and Valerie was supporting Mick… Two great gigs.. Valerie was lovely, very earthy, very earthy.. Well she took a certain fondness to Bobby.. Well in face to Bobby’s hair.. I think it went down like this amid conversation to Bobby.. ‘I love your hair, what do you do with it??’. At which point Mick smiled, shook his head and strolled off… And I have the pleasure of retelling the story today!! Sorry Bob!! Lot’s of folks jealous of your hair though.. You’re like Mufasa?? The Lion King… Here’s a tune from Valerie’s new record, we will be definitely giving it a good few spins here!

Uni also have for the 12th the new DEAD POET SOCIETY album as well as a deluxe reissue of THE ROOTS ‘Do You Want More???’

The Brexit thing is still a right pain in the plaice where I have no window.. There is a rant coming over it but time against me today and the doctor used say I had had to watch my B.P…

I’ll hand you over to Bob now (if he is still talking to me!!) and he will run through tasty releases that we got wind of or are just announced..

Howdy folks, Mufasa here!
Just to clarify, Valerie also was very surprised that a Cork boy-o had a head of hair as fabulous as my own!! I think this is what Mick had a good chuckle at. Ah great great memories. A great gig and definitely excited to listen to Valerie’s new record!

So enough of my hair! Onto the releases coming out over the coming weeks and months in the future. Again quite a few nice bits announced in the last week. We’ll start off with the announcement hot off the press of the new DINOSAUR JR. record ‘Sweep It Into Space’. It’s coming on CD, Standard Vinyl or two different Indie Only Coloured vinyl. Both the Indie formats also come with a bonus 4-Track Live CD, a nice edition!

There is a soundtrack release by ARCADE FIRE to ‘Her’ on vinylFIRST AID KIT have announced ‘Who By Fire’ a Live Tribute LP to Leonard Cohen which is coming on CD or Blue Vinyl. There is a LUCINDA WILLIAMS Tribute album to Tom Petty entitled ‘Runnin’ Down A Dream’, a JETHRO TULL 3CD/3DVD deluxe edition of ‘A La Mode’, a reissue through MOV of Therapy?’s ‘Infernal Love’, a new GARY MOORE release on deluxe CD or Blue Vinylnew GOJIRAnew CROWDED HOUSE including an Indies Silver Vinyl, a reissue of NADA SURF’s ‘High/Low’ on Coloured Vinyl, and finally a 3LP release of GOLDIE’s ‘Timeless : 25th Anniversary Edition’. On the CD front just announced is a deluxe version of TAYLOR SWIFT’s ‘Fearless : Taylor Version’, a new HARRY CONNICK JR CD, and finally a massive EUGENE ORMANDY CD set through Sony Classical.

Finally from myself, we are delighted that we will have for Irish/English songwriter and Cork based LEWIS BARFOOT’s new album ‘Glenaphuca’ on CD, due for release March 5th. Really nice folk music, and really nice songs. You can check out the lead single ‘Sweet Dreams’ here!

That’s it from me this week!
Back to the boss-man!

Right thanks a mil Bob… Right few releases from Warner for the 19th of March.. There is a new album from ANDREW FARRISS (Inxs) on BMG, ENFORCER ‘Live By Fire II’ on CD or 2LP.. There is a MEG MYERS LP out also, and a SAXON album ‘Inspiration’ on LP and CD… Last but not least is the NEIL YOUNG ‘After The Gold Rush’ 50th Anniversary LP + 7” Single.. It is being marketed as a boxset… I dunno about that!! Look the price, ah the price.. I will talk to the reps and see if there is anything we can do to ease the pain of the price… I know a good few of ye want it but can’t or won’t pay that kind of money… Pity for the retailer, pity for the record company, and pity for yourselves… Let me see if there is anything can be done.. Unlikely, but let me ask…

PIAS for the 19th of March have a sad release really.. STEVE EARLE & THE DUKES release ‘J.T.’, a tribute album to his son JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE, composing of 10 songs written by J.T. and one song written by Steve soon after his son’s passing at the tender age of 38… Justin Townes had battled addictions all his adult life.. He lived with his mom up to his teenage years but when Steve cleaned up, he started living and playing music with his dad… Soon after he started using himself and used drugs heavily on and off for the rest of his life until he accidentally OD’d last August.. Tragic.. The guy was bloody class.. Do you ever listen to him?? Well worth it I think.. Here is ‘Trouble Is’ from J.T.. I think i was off work last August when he passed… Rest in peace J.T. Earle..

His dad’s album ‘J.T.’ is out on New West Records on the 19th of March, CD, LP or Indies Only LP.. PIAS also have a  new 9 track from A.A. WILLIAMS ‘Songs From Isolation’ covers album..

Sin é for this week good lookers,
Thanks for listening as always,
Stay in by the wall,
Ray, Bobby & Shane

Ah man, the Top 20 International was savage close.. Only 9 votes separated Fontaines D.C (Double winners.. Conragts!!) down the Bruce in 4th.. 9 votes.. It was never so tight.. Great charts I think.. Fontaines did run away with the Irish album, but very close after that.. Pillow Queens 49 votes, John Blek 45, Bleeding Hearts 39, Niamh Regan 37, Silverbacks 33, Ailbhe Reddy 29… Very close!! First time ever ‘our’ gig won the gig of the year… Genuinely.. But it was a special night.. Will draw the name for the €50 voucher out of a hat ‘live’ on d’video on Friday…

My own personal favourite album last year (still now!!) and it’s so subjective.. We had hundreds of albums in for the international top 20… Hundreds… Tastes differ folks.. But I loved the Bleeding Heart Pigeons album ‘Stir’.. A bloody great album I.M.O… Here is ‘All For The Best’ from it  :

We have no stock of it at the moment but if anyone is interested I can contact the lads and see if we can get more!!

I also really like The Strokes, Waxahatchee, Bruce, Bob and especially Khruangbin.. To be honest
I the quality of the Irish albums are phenomenal in my opinion.. Every single album in that top 20 is really good.. Do have soft spots for Niamh Regan, Paddy Dennehy, Joe Chester, R.S.A.G and of course The Emperors!!!

Right, hand you to Bobby now for any upcoming albums etc…

Hey folks,
Hope you are all keeping safe and well. Quite a lot there this week, some nice announcements again!
Gonna start off with something a bit different. We have just put on the site for pre-order the brand new announcement from Rega, for their new loudspeakers called ‘Kyte’ Loudspeakers. We are big fans of Rega products in the shop, so really nice to see new speakers from them, first time we will have speakers from them in the shop. These are due to ship in Spring 2021, but if any interest pop us a mail and we can try get a more concrete date.

On to the tunes! There is another live NEIL YOUNG release announced, this one for late March is entitled ‘Young Shakespeare’, recorded 50 years ago for German TV, just two months after the release of the exceptional ‘After The Gold Rush’. What an album. There will be a CD, Vinyl or Deluxe Box Set with the CD/Vinyl/DVD.

A Sweet Foo Fighters Competition, New Tindersticks, And A Great Loss For The Cork Music Scene

Hi everyone,
Hope all is well with ye.. Another week passed I suppose, only a few more weeks.. It’s the longest time without call & collect, it’s the most restrictive lockdown we have had to be honest but saying that January was good considering how restricting trade is, so we can’t complain.. Probably done 60% of what I would hope to have done… So we are fine.. Heard the news yesterday of the Kino and was saddened to hear it… The whole situation just turned out to be unmanageable in the end i’d say… Great loss in the short term for the music scene here in Cork, but i’m sure the lads will be back stronger than ever.. Tough for them though, upheaval, shite to deal with, heart goes out to them a bit.. I know what upheaval is like.. The lads and their staff are excellent at what they do, have a love for it.. There will be many a great night ahead in their next establishment.. Bobby would have worked with the lads in the Kino and knows all the staff well.. Really tough time out there for a lot of folks in the music industry.. Hopefully by the end of the year things will be different. and we can support the music scene like we never supported it before… Best of luck to all the Kino folk in the future…

So bare with us, we are doing our best.. Lucky to be doing anything also… We are mindful of that…
Anyways, Sin é for this week I suppose,
Thanks for listening as always

Fleet Foxes And Arlo Parks, New Ben Howard, And The Video Is Back!

Hi everyone,
Hope all is well out there with ye… Jan is nearly put to bed I suppose.. The ‘Brexit’ thing is still painful but learning more about it all the time, so progress is being made… It’s long winded but where a lot of my problems lay was forms not filled out right by the supplier or couriers… The couriers are customs agents now and are responsible for collectiong VAT / Customs / Fees from importer (me for example)… So they email you to pay the fee and you pay it… Problem is (one of them), they are still emailing you 5 days later looking for the payment (which you have paid!!).. They are inundated with it / sending requests for payments / getting payments and ultimately releasing the goods… Long long story short, their systems are facing big teething problems and creaking with the volumes… Frustrating thing is we have a customs number and are set up for postponed accounting for VAT, so if paperwork is correct from supplier / courier we don’t get caught in the rat-trap.. Anyway, it’s not being done right sometimes and it brings problems… Anyway, i’m glad I started that… Night night… Are ye not asleep yet???

Right, the music.. Releases for this Friday the 29th include the fabulous ARLO PARK’s album on Transgressive Records, the BICEP album landed (Was due on the 22nd).. The vinyl editions are very limited folks.. PIAS for this weekend also have the new MARTIN GORE EPGOAT GIRL’s second album, and a JOAN AS POLICE WOMAN live album also..

Universal for this Friday the 29th of Jan have the new STEVEN WILSON album ‘The Future Bites’ on limited vinyl and CD… Here is ‘King Ghost’ from the new album

Universal are also reissuing POLLY JEAN HARVEY’s 4th album ‘Is This Desire?’ this Friday, as well as a separate Demos LP of sessions from the recordings… Uni also have reissues from THE MAMAS & PAPASTHE FLYING BURITO BROTHERS BANDJOHN SCOFIELD & PAT METHENY, THIN LIZZY and BOB MARLEY’s savage boxset ‘Songs of Freedom’.

Warner for the 29th (this Friday) have the ST. GERMAIN ‘Tourist : Travel Versions’ reissue and STEVE HARLEY’s compilation LP…

Music on Vinyl have a box on route from Holland to us which contains the MILES DAVIS ‘In Tokyo’ vinyl, ENNIO MORRICONE’s ‘Passion’ on coloured, limited vinyl, WILLIE NELSON’s ‘Heroes’ coloured / limited vinyl, the 3 UNCLE TUPELO coloured / numbered reissues, and also the STONE ROSES remix album..

The video is back!! We, some 2 of the 3 of us, have been doing a weekly VLOG for years… I’d say 2014/2015 was it Bob?? Anyway, we spend hours scripting them every week, and take them very seriously…. We show off / showcase releases for the week… Anyway, ‘the fire of Noel Gallagher’ put paid to D’Video in August 2019 so we decided to bring ’em back… This one is long winded a bit but normally about 5 minutes.. Up on the site and youtube now

Right soon releases for the 5th of Feb… Oh sorry before that… The Functionality of the Siopa is Website only, there is no call and collect or click and collect… We have no problem keeping records as said in earlier newsletters… So we are hoping that call and collect will be available to us again in 3 or 4 weeks time, it is a game changer for us, but I ain’t going to crib here, there are families being torn apart, we can keep the records tucked away, no problem. Sin sin

Right so the 5th of Feb.. One I forgot to mention in recent weeks, and a biggie it is and all… The new FLEET FOXES album is out physically on Friday the 5th of Feb… I haven’t got listening to it yet, but by a lot of accounts it’s a cracker of an album… In face quite a few folks put it in their ‘Best Albums of 2020’ lists they sent to us… The Board had a (EGM) meeting though and decided cause it was not physically released in 2020, it would not be entered in 2020 but will be for 2021… The board’s decision is final.. Saw these guys in The Opera House a few years back… Was it Summer 18 or Summer 19??? The morning after the gig I was driving to work and there was the guitarist strolling down the Rochestown Road, most if not all passer-by’s oblivious… Should have pulled over and invited him to the shop!! Savage, talented band.. Here’s ‘Can I Believe You’ from the new album ‘Shore’ :

Proper also for the 5th have a SUN RA LP reissue of ‘Fireside Chat With Lucifer’

Sony for the 29th of Jan were meant to have the MILES DAVIS ‘Kind of Blue’SIMON & GARFUNKEL ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ and MEAT LOAF ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ clear vinyl reissues, but now coming on the 5th of Feb… Also from Sony on the 5th is the new FOO FIGHTER’s CD, LP or Iimited LP ‘Medicine At Midnight’.. I remember buying the first FOO’s album on CD back in the day… Circa 25 years ago i’d say… 94 maybe??

PIAS for the 5th have the BLACK COUNTRY, NEW ROAD album..

Warner for the 5th have the new STAVES album and a reissue by GEORGE BENSON

I was deeply saddened yesterday to hear of the passing of Cork Soprano CARA O’SULLIVAN as i’m sure thousands more were… I knew CARA a little from coming in and out of the shop down through the years for various things (sold a few cds also) and she was a great character, always bubbly, always looking for a laugh or laughing.. A really warm person.. I didn’t know Cara really well but I was (like the whole music community in Cork) knocked for six yesterday… Ahh.. A great personality.. This here always gave shivers down my spine but ever more so now… Here is Cara with the RTE Concert Orchestra doing the theme for ‘Once Upon A Time In The West’.

I hope Ennio is looking for you Cara girl, wherever you are may you rest in peace.

Cara could bound into the shop, say ‘hows it going?’, i’d say ‘good girl how’s things?’. Blast out a line of a song that was playing in the shop in “her” voice (magic!!) and crack a joke about something and leave.. Whirl wind but such a warm, pleasant one.. R.I.P Cara

My own opinion, it’s very challenging and very tricky.. Issues for us, delays big time, VAT Issues, Customs Duties on some items… Deal me arse.. Or if there is a deal, what would no deal have been… Everything we sent to the UK in December (not much thankfully now, maybe 15 orders, including a Planar 1 is being ‘returned to sender’… us!!)… Here is word for word what our courier emailed us on the 15th Jan.. ‘Apologies, customs have stopped all parcels going into UK until further notice. Unfortunately this was out of our hands and all parcels are RTS’… Anyway, it will iron out (hopefully) but it’s a mess at the moment… Just an update on delays here so folks know… Bowie Birthday single due today / tomorrow finally, shipped on the 11th of Jan… Shame Indies Only LP shipping out of the UK today i’m told, CD here as is other vinyl… Sleaford Mods due today / tomorrow.. Alice in Chains ‘Facelift’ due also.Kurt Vile has landed also.. There are loads of little problems but this week things seem to moving a bit better… Uni and Warner stock moving the best.. A sign we are getting back on track! A Few I failed to mention up to now.. Rhino are running what they call ‘Start Your Ear Off’ campaign of once off coloured vinyl pressings so we will have very soon TALKING HEADS ‘Speaking In Tongues’ €24 and ‘The Name Of This Band Is’ €24, THE CARS ‘Shake It Up’ €20 and BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD’s ‘Best Of’ also for 20 bucks… Can’t go wrong there folks… Pure class.. I think that’s about it for releases for this Friday the 22nd… We will get there folks, bare with us… It’s a tricky working environment anyway at the moment.. Website only… Pair it up with our deal / no deal Brexit.. But things do seem to be moving this week.. Also if you see anything on these pages that you want.. We have absolutely no problem putting it away for you until click & collect, call & collect returns or until the shop re-opens… No problem, just let us know.. NEIL YOUNG’s home-recorded, solo acoustic album ‘THE TIMES’ gets its vinyl release in February following the CD release late last year. A couple of classics, more recent material, and even a Dylan track recorded solo by Mr. Young. Can’t go wrong with that!
